Absolutely horrible experience, no only is the frond desk incompetent but so is the doctor. First visit, requested referral for psychiatrist. Turns out referral was sent and not required. (incompetence). Language barrier a massive downfall, not understanding. The front desk is an absolute mess, registered nurses or secretaries that are absolutely lost. Appointment made three weeks in advance, show up to appointment, turns out it was never actually booked. Horrible. Nurse/receptionist, downplays responsibility turns out previous employee was fired or quit. "Not my fault" says the nurse. Left hanging, request to speak with doctor. Front desk acknowledges but disregards. had to get doctors attention at first opportunity. Doctor apologies, agrees to see me for five minutes. min you ive mad arraignments three weeks in advance. Doctor rushes me out the door without a completest or caring assessment. Tells me to make another appointment. This place should be shut down. If I could give Zero, I would. I have chosen doctor Vigen Abovian for my parents few months ago because of his reviews and closeness to home. This doctor lacks compassion towards the patient and professionalism. Also, he is very rude, profane, and indifferent. I do not talk even talk about professional ethics. His only concern is for money & money. We wasted 1.5 hours after waiting to be seen by him with my cardiac patient dad for nothing. He prescribes unnecessary cholesterol medications for a patient who does not even have high cholesterol and instead of listening about patient's complaints, he talks about everything possible but not about the reason of the patient's visit. Definitely switching to another doctor who will be able to provide a better service and who can treat their patients more respectfully.This one does not definitely meet our family needs and expectations on medical service. Also, being more polite towards patients would be helpful. Will never take my parents to that office again. read more

I've had way better experiences as a new patient at a doctor's office. I guess I caught him on a bad day. I went to him for a general checkup and a few other concerns I had. He walks into my room, doesn't introduce himself, sits on the chair and asks me why I'm here. It caught me a little off guard, however, I told him everything I needed to say and he was very dismissive and came off very rude. He was talking to me like I'm stupid and I have no idea what I'm talking about. I absolutely hate it when people talk down to me, let alone professionals in the medical field. If it wasn't for the 2 ladies at the front desk, Lianna and Kristine, I would not return to Dr. Abovian. They were super helpful with all the paper work and setting up my future appointment. As far as Dr. Abovian goes, here's some advice from a PATIENT--be a little less dismissive, and listen to your patient's concerns without talking down to them like they are stupid. Also, introducing yourself would be nice too, especially to new patients at your office. Overall, it wasn't the best experience as a first time patient. This is my second appointment with Doctor Abovian. I really didn't want to write this review, but this is the first time I was actually afraid to ask questions about my health. Doctor Abovian was impatient and dismissive with me; I felt very uncomfortable and he made me feel guilty for any request I made. The impression I got was that I was wasting his time, especially after he informed me that most of his other patients, unlike me, already have some unfortunate illness. It shouldn't matter what my concerns are and I shouldn't have to be compared to other patients. I rarely go to see a doctor and when I do, I go to seek their advice toward any concerns I may have and if necessary, to take any steps toward preventing possible health problems. I pay nearly $300/month for health insurance and after waiting nearly 2 months for my appointment, I find this very unacceptable. I'm sure he is a very skilled and capable doctor, but unless you are already diagnosed with an unfortunate illness, I recommend looking elsewhere as to not waste your time, and his. Like maybe Urgent Care. That's where he recommended I go at the end of my appointment. The receptionist was very kind though. read more

Wish I can give zero stars. This is a review from 6months ago and I'm only still with him till now, because I actually like my physical therapist he recommended. As soon as I'm done with my therapy sessions, I'm going to switch to a new doctor. RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL In May, I had serious back muscle pain to the point that I wasn't able to sit or stand without having a sharp pain. It was from an injury a year ago and has been bothering me on and off throughout the year. I went to see Dr. Abovian for the first time, already waiting over an hour for my appointment to see him, and all I got out of him was a rude, unprofessional attitude. First and only thing after I explain about my pain to him is that he will prescribe me some pills and was asking 'anything else?' I said, I don't want to be on medication if it's only going to help me temporarily. But since I've waited so long to see him, I thought I should ask him for more (or ANY) advice so I wasn't wasting my time. (Which ended up being the biggest waste of time since I felt like it was such a struggle to get anything more out of him.) I asked if he can give me any other advices like physical therapy or home exercises. He straight up googled "exercise for back pain" and showed it to me then 'anything else?'. I was already very irritated by how much lack of attention or care he had towards me. I asked if he would recommend me going to see a 'chiropractor'. First response was my insurance doesn't cover any of that practice so you can't go see a chiropractor. I told him, it's fine if I have to pay out of pocket, I'm just curious if that would actually help. He kept getting back to me about my insurance not covering it and "if you're fine paying, yeah maybe. Anything else?" UGH I left the office so upset and furious I had to come back to my car and calm myself down for 15mins before leaving. Never in my life I had someone treat me so rude like that and it made me feel like it was all because I have a shitty insurance and he was judging me for that. I only did NOT write a review right away because I was so upset to even write it. The only thing I'm glad is that I got the physical therapy sessions out of it. I only call in now to get more therapy session approvals, but as soon as they can't provide this anymore, I'm switching to a new doctor. read more

Gone are the days when Dr.Abovian and his staff used to care for their patients. I have never seen an office be so unprofessional. I don't have much to say about the Dr but according to his staff or to be more specific Liana, if you are having an allergic reaction to a medication go to an urgent care or an emergency room then maybe she can send an urgent request to see the specialist that prescribed you a medication. Funny thing was she didn't even suggest for me to come see Dr.Abovian and when I asked she said "come sit here and wait he isn't even here" like she is being sarcastic and making fun of me. I am...utterly baffled by these reviews. Maybe I caught him on a bad day, but he was pushy, constantly interrupted me, rude, dismissive, and most importantly, impatient. I have a bit of a complicated medical past, and this was my first appointment with him to establish him as my primary care (since my old one dropped my insurance), so one would think that he would like to hear about all of that, especially since I made it clear that my reasons for seeing him were very likely related to my medical history. A full understanding of my past and chronic issues would obviously help him do his job in making a diagnosis and finding the best treatment. The only reason I'm giving him two stars instead of one is because he is clearly quite a capable doctor, so it's not like you won't get your treatment--assuming that your reason for seeing him is simple and easily explained within five seconds. More complex cases should look elsewhere to someone who will actually listen to their patients. read more

Okay.. where do I start? I've never had any doctor treat me the way Dr. Abovian treated me. I was waiting for him in the room and he came in with like the worst vibe & body language ever. As a psychology student, I over analyze everything but I was hoping to be wrong about him. He did not introduce himself, also okay for me, I'm not picky about doctors. I told him about my situation of how I'm switching my neurologist and I want a new one. I have Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy and I have to go for follow ups every couple months Incase I have a seizure. I gave him the report of all my follow ups with my old neurologist so he can see my condition. He literally made it seem like I have a cold. " I'll just give you the meds you don't need a neurologist, since nothings happened to you recently you don't need it" okay first of all, I have EPILEPSY. don't mock me and treat me like I'm dumb with your shitty attitude. It's not all about pills. It's very scary for me to know that he would just medicate an epileptic without knowing that all epileptic patients need a specialist. Oh, and talking over me didn't help. On google he has 5 stars but not all of us are idiots. You had to do some damage control due to your lack of compassion & rude behavior. By the way, asking a patient "Why are you here" or "what do you want" is not appropriate. As a doctor, it's your job to give advice and recommend a solution for the problem, not ask the patient. If you want to come here, I'd recommend WebMD, it'll leave you more satisfied with less attitude. And stop telling you family members to write you 5 star reviews, it's 2019. Everyone can figure it out. The reason this doctor is still in business is because of the older Armenians who can't speak English and have to deal with this lol. read more

Good professional doctor. Very detail oriented. Office is clean and nice and Nurses and receptionists are very caring and friendly.

At first I was a bit apprehensive about Dr. Abovian just because I've had bad experiences with Armenian doctors in the past. The first impression I got from him was that he came off a bit dry, for lack of a better word, but I figured I'd give him a shot since I was already there and I'm glad I did. I had a few issues and within a week I received my approvals and recommendations to see specialists for all of them. He is straight and to the point, he listens to everything you say and really puts in the effort to help you figure out what's wrong as soon as possible. As far as the um nurses/receptionists (sorry don't know exactly what to call them) there are two, and they are both very kind and greet you with a smile when you walk in.
