Along with plenty of newest releases on DVD and many older titles on disc , you will find, countless movies from the 80s and 90s that never made it onto DVD. You won't find these videos on a streaming service. So many good films in any category you want. Drama, comedy, action, Horror, Sci- Fi foreign independent. Make sure you have a VHS VCR to view these wonderful movies you can't get anywhere else. Don't have a VCR you can easily find one at Salvation Army or thrift store for 5 bucks. With over 2400 movies you could rent 3 movies a day five days a week and hardly make a dent in-the vast inventory Unlike a streaming Service you can actually discuss the movies you rented with a real human being. This is, simply, the best video store ever. The consistently great service shines amongst a sea of crappy and best forgotten competitors over the years. National chains dissolve and fade away, whereas Video Visions continues. Why? Let me regale you. Absolutely, number one, without a doubt, the most important part of this store are the people working here. The owner has always hired good people and trained them well. They are not drones. They have verve and spunk. They are friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. If they had no videos, I think I would still go there and bask in the customer service glow that just doesn't exist in many places. It is rare to enter this store and not find customers engaged in long discussion with staff and other customers, covering a myriad of topics and interests. Come back an hour later for a cold soda, and often the same customers are still there! These people are wickedly intelligent and have a great sense of humor. It is a people-friendly and dog-friendly store. They have dogs of their own, which they treat like family. Very friendly dogs (labs) who will sometimes fetch movies for patrons (the dogs have favorites, too). Now, as for the movies - wow! I have never seen such a complete collection in any other video store. The back catalog is what makes it. Other stores have had lots of the same movies. Here, they may get a few copies of a big release. But the joy comes from the fact that they have consistently purchased a wide variety of films. You will therefore find a large assortment of foreign films, classics, war, westerns, low and high budget sci-fi, many music videos from various bands, TV series, fishing, hunting, instructional, educational, childrens, and seasonal movies. Lots of old Cartoon series, Dramas, Romance, Action, Comedies, Comedy shows and live performances. Also local history videos about the area, the railways, etc. These are organized in a Library-like fashion. The staff can direct you to a specific movie in a matter of a few seconds. However, even if it is not busy, I love that they give you access to print outs of the entire catalog. You look it up on the portable catalog, and there is a system for finding the exact movie. Once you know it, no movie is more than 10 seconds away from your grasp. It is mind boggling. A movie review book is also provided for those who are having trouble finding something that piques their interest.. If you are using one of these Netflixy-like or Redboxy services, do yourself a favor: skip the movie dispenser, avoid dodgy behavior like sending movies to you from far away and trying to "throttle" your viewing habits to save on postage on supposedly unlimited service. $2.25 is a very reasonable price to watch a movie. It's something like $1.10 for an additional night if you call them and tell them you are not returning it the next day (you can also tell them in advance). $2.25 and you support a local business and your own interests. These people carry VCRs and DVD players. Doubt you will find those at a dispenser. Cables and accessories are stocked. As well as all that, they transfer audio and video. This means if you have those old family recordings, concerts, etc, they have the equipment to move it to DVD, CD, etc. Criminally low prices for these services mean that you can really take care of it all, but you will feel like you are ripping them off. Now the number of titles has jumped significantly! Over 22,000 movies to choose from!! I've now been coming here for just 2 years, and have no intention of renting from Netflix or Redbox ever again. You can pick out a movie for a night or two and its only $2 a night as opposed to online rentals or on dams movies that are insanely priced. Renting from Saturday to Tuesday is only $3.25. I've never been disappointed when leaving here. Not to mention the owner is incredibly friendly and welcoming ready to get you anything you need! He's also very personable and I've been known to stay and chat a while. Even if its after closing, he'll stay open if your still in there. Give this place a chance. Was just in Chatham for the day and I was very happily surprised to see a videostore that was still open. All of the video stores near me closed years ago. This one was open, the owner is friendly, and they even still have tens of thousands of VHS tapes for rent. This store is a nice hidden treasure for cinephiles. read more

Video Visions has been in this location for more than 25 years. Think about that for a second. A 25 year old video rental store. Places like video visions are a dying breed. Thousands of VHS tapes, and DVD's, tons of weird rare stuff you won't find on netflix. It is not "artsy" which is not to say that it doesn't carry a lot of great foreign stuff, but just that it is focused on american hollywood movies. However, within these parameters (which are HUGE) I would be surprised if they did not have something. The entire gamut of A, B, and C grade movies in every possible genre. Also, the owner is really nice, and is opinionated on movies. This is an important quality for a video store owner. He is not obnoxious however. He is really nice.
