What an absolutely wonderful place. This delightfully quirky bookstore rambles across two buildings: the main shop, which is already packed full of treasures on multiple floors, and the newly-completed seasonal "book mill" building (built right over the water) which the owner describes as being intentionally disorganized to encourage browsing. I failed to take many pictures because being in here is such a fun, engrossing, woodsmoke-scented experience: my phone stayed in my pocket for pretty much the duration. Everything from the smell to the wonderful stop-motion short film playing in a little cubbyhole to the lovely owner and employees and the interesting rooms to discover (there's almost an entire floor devoted just to massive photography books!) is like a kind of amusement park for book-lovers. The books are also priced to move, which is great. I 100% plan on going back to West Stockbridge largely just to bask in the atmosphere of this bookstore again.

Very good used bookstore that is quintessential Berskhires. In two adjacent buildings, one of which is a barn, sit a lot of older (new, discounted), used, and rare (first edition) books. The staff were very pleasant, and I found lots of great choices. read more

A charming independent bookstore in a lovely location, the selection of books is excellent here, despite the smaller space. You can find some old gems here, with all the used books here. They also have new books as well, and prices seemed reasonable. Service at the bookstore was friendly and had a nice conversation with staff. With all the browsing you can do here, it's a nice place to spend an afternoon. read more

My husband and I love visiting this jewel of a bookstore, filled with used books and a curated selection of heavily discounted new books and book-adjacent items. I always find unknown books of interest, and love to go through their selection of pamphlets. I have never seen so many books on weaving in a bookstore. We tend to pair a visit here with one to the fabulous Rodger's Book Barn down Route 22 outside of Hillsdale, NY. It makes for a great book-related day trip. read more

I had a great conversation with a person who even researched where I could find a photography book I was looking for and gave us resources to follow up with. I love this town and this bookstore. The owner, Eric, brought new books all the time. It's always a surprise every time I visited and I always find special book I want to read. Talked to Jeff a couple of times, he would give you the best suggestions on book all the times. I love this little town and this book made this place so much better. A must visit! read more

I just love this place! I've purchased online since COVID-19, but we'd stopped in several times before. Can you imagine I was able to request a Dante's inferno, antique in Italian with French liner notes, and a book about metaphysics over the phone, by description? Me neither! Also was able to get a priceless book of shipwreck stories I found online for quite a lot more! Prices are reasonable for the quality, and their customer service is top-rate. You really feel they understand and know everything about their products, and care about their customers' experience. Will be back as soon as I can! read more

One of the best bookstores I've encountered... and I am old enough to remember Guttenberg. Why? The selection is plentiful and seemingly right on. I can never leave without buying at least one book and usually more. Service: the nicest, most knowledgeable people. Comfort: there are comfy chairs throughout in which you can take a book and sample it. Also, and not unimportantly, if is within walking distance of two great coffee houses. read more

Love this bookstore in charming West Stockbridge. Great selection of books and good prices; many paperbacks were 40-50% off. Right off exit 1 from I-90. Have something to eat at Six Depot and stop at the bookstore after. read more

I love this place. It's comfy, small, eclectic, well-organized, friendly and has knowledgeable staff. I went in here recently and found a book I was interested in that had a price of $85. When I asked about the price, the salesperson did a little research, realized the book was overpriced and offered it to me at $15. Great service. I love that it overlooks the river and has a little porch on which to sit. Otherwise, it is a little crowded. They often have great sidewalk sales for the passersby. read more

This bookstore has a fine and eclectic collection, good and reasonable prices, and a friendly environment (complete with rocking chairs!) to sit and peruse the merchandise. My wife and i found the proprietor helpful and knowledgeable. This place is well worth a stop should you be in need of engaging reading materials to complete your enjoyment of the beautiful southern berkshires. read more
