PLEASE READ FULL REVIEW: Two years ago, I was in a bind as an out-of-towner when my alternator died on a camping trip. Not only did this place get me out of a bind, but they did great work and gave a fair price (which, in my experience, is very rare when one is an out-of-towner). Since then, I have recommended him to all of my fellow vacationers at my club in Essex County. HOWEVER: I returned today with brake issues and had a completely different experience, much more like what you would expect when you are up the creek without a paddle (i.e., when they don't see you as a prospect for future business). I guess all the friends I referred failed to drop my name! In any event, I am rescinding my recommendation after taking this bath. Hopefully, my previous super-positive review successfully deleted. My advice: don't drive past other mechanics to reach Viele's if you are in a bind. Expect that the price will suck, take your lumps, and move on. Be safe. No more reasonable prices for out-of-towners here. (Work was still sufficient on this hard-to-botch brake job, hence, I'll refrain from giving the lowest possible rating despite experiencing the lowest possible satisfaction.) read more

I'm not a professional mechanic, but I know my way around a vehicle a little - and I've seen too much to be fooled by someone who's not the real deal. Randy and his shop are Class A rated. I'd trust them with any repairs I needed to any vehicle I have ever owned. Number One: THE SHOP IS CLEAN! You can all but eat off the garage floors. I can see that the bays and tools are organized and handy from looking in from outside, and that's a key signature of professional mechanics and management. The office and waiting area are clean as a whistle too; and everyone is very polite and friendly in addition to being knowledgeable and helpful. Prices are VERY fair, and they'll quote you up front for any work to be done. For maintenance, repairs, and towing I rely on Viele's as my go to and recommend them every chance I get. read more

I am from Stillwater and currently work in Warrensburg. I had an awful sound coming from the back and then I couldn't reverse the car. I stopped in an it was busy, and Randy took the time to come out and look quick at my back breaks. I asked if I could bring the car in, for the following day to repair. He stated yes. The following day, I checked in with his wife (I like a family business). I went to work. I guess things got hectic for the shop, but they handled it with grace. It was a Friday, and I was worried, they may not get to it. Randy's wife assured me; it would be all set by the end of the day. Randy stayed an extra hour and completed the job. It needed back breaks, rotors and calipers. Plus, I had one headlight out. It was completed and at what I believed a fair price. The car is running wonderful. Randy also made note of a few other items, for possible repair at another time. The place was clean, and the customer service was impeccable. I was nervous, because I hadn't gone to anyone up this way. I saw the yelp reviews that basically stated, what I am now. I will defiantly go back. I had front rotors and brake pads installed on my car, and was charged for premium components. After less than 20,000 miles, the brake pads debonded from the metal backing plates, and the rotors were so corroded that they couldn't be removed from the hubs using normal methods (resulting in extra shop charges for me) - these were clearly not premium components. The retaining screws holding the rotors to the hubs were so grossly overtightened that they broke when being removed. This was not the first time i observed overtightened bolts when my car was serviced by Viele's - I had a previous experience with overtightened wheel lug bolts after they changed tires. I will not return to Viele's and will find other mechanic shops that I can trust. read more

We were up here on vacation day one our Outlander started acting weird on way up from Long Island. Long story short we got a bad #1 cylinder. He was able to change plugs etc and get it great enough to get home at a reasonable price and took us right away. Can't thank him enough. Definitely use him read more

Horrible!!!! Waited 2.5 hours with FOUR YOUNG KIDS for driver to come (turns out it was the OWNER!). He explained he went to wrong gas station where car was broken down, and apparently when I offered him the keys, it OFFENDED HIM so much that he said "screw this, I dont need this" and LEFT US. I will be calling the BBB and filing complaints with them and AAA. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! read more

So thankful to have been recommended this auto shop on I-87 after my car engine overheated. Randy and Nicole were so pleasant to speak to. Randy is very knowledgable and calm and was able to get my car working for my 4 hour drive back home. He stayed late to help and was very kind. My car's wheel bearing started to go on the ride upstate to Lake George. I did some looking around and Viele's had great reviews. I took a gamble and went there for the repair. I was a little nervous being a "downstate tourist," but they were honest and fair. Apparently some locals feel they may be expensive, but it was cheaper than what the repair would have cost back home in the NYC Metro area. Plus, Randy was honest and the repair was done the right way. If you're in the area for vacation and need a repair, I would look no further. Finding a new car garage is stressful. You just never know. I had met Mr. Viele awhile back and we had a positive conversation, he gave me his card and so when the time came for a new garage I gave Viele's a try. I am very happy I did. This week was my second visit there. NYS Inspection, oil change and new wipers. The young woman behind the counter could not be nicer and is very helpful. I had an 11:30 am appointment and I checked in and the car was taken in on time. (Nice!) The job was done in less than an hour and the mechanic comes out to see if there are any questions. The price was very fair. The shop is clean and organized. The waiting area is clean and stocked with reading material and has a TV. The mens room is spotless. I found a new local garage and could not be happier. Thanks to Mr. Veile and his team for making it so easy! I recommend this shop based on my personal experience there. read more

If I could give Randy and his team 10 stars I would. Walked in today with and electrical issue with no lights on my RV or Tow car and Randy and his staff couldn't have been more helpful. He assigned his tech Bill to diagnose the problem and then he proceeded to spend the next couple of hours fixing it. My service experience couldn't have been better. Attentive, professional staff and the minute you walk into this establishment you can quickly recognize the pride they take in everything! A friend was helping a family member, trying to pay Viele's Automotive Services for the daily fees of a car they had impounded. It was over the weekend and a call was made to verify that someone would be there, hoping to get the car as soon as possible. After being told there would be, they waited over 2 hours but no one showed up. The next day, instead of an explanation or apology for not being there the day before, the fee had increased for the extra day they had the car. Needless to say, my friend was not happy and made a comment or 2. At that point Viele's refused to release the car until the sheriff's became involved who did manage to have the car released with the extra days fee. read more

The shop was closed midday on a Saturday when my VW Beetle suddenly died at a local Sunoco station. I called AAA, and lucky for me it was Randy Viele who responded to my call. He called my cell to advise that he was already in the area with his tow truck, and would be arriving shortly. Ten minutes later, Randy drove in, checked the battery, gave me a jump and told me to follow him to his shop, about a mile up the road. When we got there, he opened up one of his service bays, had me drive in, and immediately installed a new battery! Frankly, he couldn't have been more accommodating about the entire situation. I had to drive over to Boston the next day, and if Randy hadn't been there to help me with a new battery on Saturday, I likely would have had to postpone my trip until at least Monday! To top it off, while he was replacing the battery, he also noticed that the hood latch was sticky and not fully engaging, so he immediately cleaned, greased and tested it to ensure that it was working properly, including the associated safety catch. If I lived in the Warrensburg area, I would definitely be having my cars serviced by Randy Viele. This is the kind of automotive service that you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. read more

Randy Viele is about as good as a business owner as you can get. He's done a lot of work for me and has cut me a break on prices because he knows not everyone is flush with cash these days. He's been as good as his word when it comes to the work needing to be done, and if something needs going over, he takes care of it. Exactly the type of garage you want to go to. read more

Very greedy owner with no sympathy. If you got into an accident in that area, these guys would charge you a ridiculous amount for towing and repairing, even if you don't have insurance. So drive carefully and pray that you never have to deal with them, because they're ready to rip you off! read more

We were vacationing in the area and had a problem with the starter in our truck. We decided to go to Viele's because they are a AAA approved station. They were very nice and had our car fixed quickly and we were on the road in less than 2 hours. The shop was very clean (even the bathroom) and well taken care of, which I find is a sign of a well run business. They did not overcharge and we actually paid less than the quote they gave us. I highly recommend using them. read more
