Before he could leave, the volunteers said they were willing to stick around for a little while so we could walk through. The museum had many full size dioramas depicting life in American history. Each area was very interesting with unique artificats, many I have never seen before. This museum​ is not huge, but there is plenty to see and the opportunities for many conversations to be started. The volunteers were amazing! They answered our questions, chatted with us and very helpful. I recommend you stop in and say hello. You won't regret it!

I probably spent as much time outside taking photos as I did inside! The museum itself is clean, well organized, and filled with exhibits covering aviation, space exploration, and the remarkable career of Oklahoma native General Thomas P. Stafford. Admission was $7, and it was worth the drive. I grew up in St. Louis along route 66 so I could relate to a lot of this history. This museum brings up so many good memories and makes you feel very nostalgic. It was so interesting. They break up the history of Route 66 by the decade starting in the 1920s. This museum focuses mostly on Oklahoma's history of Route 66, but they do bring up things from all of the other states involved along the way. After seeing so many of the Route 66 sites in Oklahoma, it makes me so badly want to drive from Chicago to Santa Monica! Maybe I will one day.

The City of Apache is very near and dear to my heart. I used to spend many endless summers there as a little girl visiting my grandma and grandpa. The perform a passion play called the prince of peace which first ran during Easter 1926. Make sure you wear good solid shoes as there are many rocky areas. The site also has a memorial for the Oklahoma City bombing victims, a Veterans Walkway, and an 11-foot marble Christ statue. This past April they performed the 100th annual play.

I spoke with a very pleasant female security guard and she was very knowledgeable and friendly, she answered many of mine and my sisters questions about the bombing. She went out of her way to make us not feel rushed in answering our questions, then she thanked us for being there. I will be back!

The outdoor memorial is beautifully designed and incredibly peaceful. The Field of Empty Chairs, the reflecting pool, the Survivor Tree, and the "gates of time" create such a solemn and respectful atmosphere. Every detail feels intentional and meaningful. Even on a return visit, walking through the site brings a heavy but important emotional impact that stays with you. The indoor museum is also excellent -- well-organized, informative, and respectful. Whether it's your first time or your third, this place leaves a lasting impression. It's educational, reflective, and incredibly well-maintained.
