Thomas Gullett, owner of ViewTech Microscope Service, has been servicing the microscope that I use at work for many years. Normally, all it needs is preventive maintenance, cleaning and calibration; then it functions as good as new.
But the last time that he was on site, I mentioned to him that I had an issue with the red warning LED on the power supply occasionally turning on. Tom discovered that the power cord of the power supply that goes to the lamp housing was damaged causing this concern.
He also made recommendations on ways for the microscope to last longer, such as installing a fume extraction system (to remove solder fumes when soldering), and offered suggestions on how to get more use out of it like obtaining a 7X lens for more working distance.
The only downside is that since Tom is located in Auburn, a travel charge is involved. But with his many years of experience servicing microscopes, it's worth it. read more
