Updating on the day our fence is now completed. I wish we'd gotten more than one bid! This estimate was only good for 15 business days though. We received our bid on 4/18 and today is 8/14, so almost four months. Not sure if it's standard, but it was two different crews on the two different days. Everyone was very polite and professional. However, there were things miscommunicated and not communicated. The ONLY reason we got a new fence was to keep our dogs contained. We did not know that there would be a 4 inch gap under most sections of our new fence. Viking came out today to finish the job and added 5 boards to the bottom of 5 of the panels. My husband is going to finish the other gaps, because at this point we just want to be done. If I thought our dogs were secure in our backyard with this new fence, I wouldn't be petty and mention the three very long nails left in our driveway or our busted planter box that was left next to the fence. Those are the boards sticking straight up in the picture. Part of this disappointment is on us, since this is our first fence purchase we didn't know all of the questions we needed to ask. read more

Something is wrong with this company. Scheduled an estimate, on the day of the scheduled estimate , I was told the estimator was sick. I rescheduled the following week, it was a no show , so I called the company and asked them if somone was going to show up. I was told the estimator was sick. She told me she left a message, but no message was left . It appears most likely to me a staffing problem or poor scheduling management. Don't waste your time with this company. read more

Yikes! We got a quote for a fence in May, come August still not a word. We finally called and spoke with their receptionist to inquire about the status of our fence. She transferred us to another gal (voicemail) I left a detailed message no called back. I called again, a few days later and the receptionist again transferred me to the gals voicemail so I hung up and called again. She explained that the gal was in but then left basically a bunch of excuses as to why no one had followed up with us on the status of our fence. Come August, we're tired of waiting without response nor a date for install so my husband calls to inquire about canceling. They express to us that as long as we haven't special ordered specific materials that we are good to be fully refunded of our deposit. Another week passes no call back, nor follow up, and my husband finally called to cancel. My husband inquired about our deposit and then were told that they keep 10% off the total job not the deposit! So has asked to speak with the manage for explanation - no call back. He called every day for several days not one person called us back. So, they kept $800 of our deposit for a fence that never even has a scheduled date for install. I recommend you run as far away from Viking fence as humanly possible. read more

The three Gentlemen who came to my residence and repaired the chain link fence parts that were damaged by the yard care persons were fast and efficient and pleasant to talk with and they done an excellent repair. I would highly recommend Viking Fence to anyone who needs fencing or repairs and thank them for a excellent service. Wonderful Staff! They built dog runs for our animal shelter. They were quick to draw up plans and had the projects done in a timely fashion. The staff were very understanding with us when we had to put the project on hold and then approve it again. They were also reasonably priced. They called yesterday to confirm the address and the time. 15 minutes before they were due to arrive, they call to ask what the address is. They were in another city miles away. Don't use this company. They gave me an estimate and wrote up a contract for a wrought iron railing around my deck. Then they stopped communicating with me. I would call and be told so-and-so would call me back, and no one would call. I eventually went to their office and was given different reasons why my project wasn't done. In the process of getting a fence put up on the left side in the backyard. When they told me they would call me when they would come to start, I was told it would be week in advance; that wasn't the case. I got a call last Monday, telling me they were coming Wednesday morning, therefore, forcing me to cancel my plans for that morning. They came right on time Wednesday to set up the base posts for the fence; when they told me they were done, I was told they will call me in a few days (to give the cement time to dry and hold.) I come home today (Tuesday) to find the fence truck outside my house and a man almost done with the fence. They didn't even bother to call me to tell me they were coming!! I go inside to put some things away and all. I later hear the sound of a truck starting up and I see it go. He didn't bother to tell me he was done or he was coming back later or anything. I then walk to the right side of the house where we wanted a gate put up and attached to our neighbor's fence and find that it's not completed! He just left the wood boards there on the floor! What the hell, man?! The fence and gate on the left side was fine but leaving the gate on the other side uncompleted and without speaking to me about it?! Very unprofessional! Not happy about that... Will update once the gate is put up (if at all...) Update 8/31/12: So they came in yesterday (Thursday) - again, they were out there already with no prior mention to me that they were coming...they finished the gate and actually spoke with me for once when they finished. They explained that on Tuesday, a machine they were using for the gate drained out and they had to stop and had to come back yesterday. They could've told me that instead of pulling the ninja disappearing act on me...*shakes my head* - no complaints on the work done though; fence looks great. read more

Viking has built 3 different fences for us over the years. The most recent one was completed as promised with very good communication at every stage of the process. All employees were helpful, friendly and professional. The time between accepting the estimate to the actual build was extended due to Covid and I think, lots of clients lined up ahead of me, but it was completed when originally promised. Mostly good review. While the wait was very long due to you know, Covid cause everything is about Covid. The wait time between setting posts and installing the panels was much shorter than expected though. Negative side was they hit my water line and set it spewing until I could get the well house shut down. Positive side, a supervisor came out immediately (Bremerton to Harstine Island) and repaired the waterline on their dime, but could not guarantee the work, which was understandable. The setters also did not install the very last post leaving it to the second team and they were confused as to why, but they did it anyway. Another negative was that the second team did a really bad job of cleaning up the debris left behind. I ended up with a strand of chain-link wrapped around my front axle and came close to losing a brake line over it. Also finding more fencing debris still and hoping I don't lose a tire over it. The fencing job itself is top notch now waiting to see if they are going to give me the military discount they had on the original quote. read more

I had 2 posts that were rotted and had to be replaced . Viking fence sent out two very friendly and courteous men that proceeded to fix my fence and clean up after themselves . Great service ! Great Company . I'd call them again if I ever need more fences fixed ! read more

If you need a fence built, call someone else! They cut every corner to keep their costs down and their profits up. They tried to use different materials than quoted. They also did a bait and switch on the cost of the chain link. In the end, I spent way too much time trying to get them to correct their mistakes and replace rotted boards. They also damaged landscaping and left garbage behind. They managed to make all of my neighbors made by playing music too laud and blocking the road. What I got was a sub-par fence built out of split posts and cheap cedar, damaged landscaping, and an angry wife and neighbors. It is contractors like Viking that make me do the work myself read more

The process (and by process, I mean dealing with the office staff), has been painful. I contacted Viking Fence about installing a Farm Gate on a vacant lot that I purchased. The office staff was very quick to respond to my inquiry and quickly scheduled a site visit with a salesperson. Scott, the salesman, met me at the lot and explained the best solution for my needs. We made an agreement on the style of gate needed. The office quickly sent me the quote, I agreed with the pricing, and my project was scheduled. Due to the high demand of this company, I had a lead time of about 7 weeks, which I was OK with. The installers showed up on the date/time they said they would. The install was done perfectly and the guys were true professionals. My site was cleaned up and they were on their way to the next job. Never again! Viking Fence's customer service is the absolute worst!!! We have used the company twice. After our first bad experience, we hoped it was the exception rather than the rule. And now, amidst our second bad experience (and still not done), we are shaking our heads in disgust. No craftsmanship, terrible materials, and the women who answer the phone make it particularly difficult to talk to anyone who knows anything or can make any decisions (they're famous for the "he'll call you right back" maneuver and then you never hear from them again...). Even after I demanded they fix the problems, they built me a fence of split posts, split boards, and half mangled wood & wire. Our wooden fence needed repair and we were impressed and pleased with Darrel. He is a hard worker and got the job done. He is old school and we like that. There were no surprises when we settled up. Cannot recommend in good faith. I have used them once in the past and the work was more or less satisfactory for what I paid just to be fair. The estimate I got today was for three times the amount I paid last year for the same length of fence plus a gate. Shoddy gate work that I was told was still under warranty and would be repaired. Material is decent enough but the design is flawed. When 20 feet of fence with a gate costs more than an entire fence 80 foot stretch of fence plus a gate they put in last year there is something seriously wrong. Also the 2x4 securing the board with the gate latch split within the first six months. Gate no longer latches. I mean I would not have complained if it were fixed. Instead I get a ridiculous estimate and the gate is still broken. I want to be fair as can be as the staff was polite, but when it comes right down to what is being provided. No. Just no. Avoid at all costs. read more

We originally used Viking about four years ago to install a combination of fences and they did a fine job, we just never bothered leaving a review. Recently we contacted them to install a walk-in gate in our existing fence. When I called the phone was answered by a real person, did not have to wait for a callback; someone came out to give us an estimate in a very reasonable period of time; we got our estimate and accepted it. Since this was a small job they fit us into their schedule very quickly. The gate is well done, the guys were all polite and nice to our dog. Our experience with Viking Fence has been totally five-star; our experience with their supplier has been a total negative experience. Viking Fence from the start has been positive , upfront, and so great in apprising us of what to expect at all times. Our frustration ultimately came down to, not with Viking Fence, but with their supplier. The supplier would promise product, then fail to produce. Ashley, Mike and John (the co-owner of the company) worked so hard to get our gate installed in a timely manner. Ultimately, it came down to me having to author a letter to the co-owner, John, explaining our frustration in completing our gate. Ashley immediately stepped in and advised me that she would instruct her staff to manufacture the brackets the supplier was unable to, or unwilling to supply, and she assured me that John would be apprised of the situation and that he would be supplied with the original of the letter I had sent. John responded to my letter immediately upon receipt. John and I discussed what had transpired and he apologized for the problems we experienced with the installation of our gate, and asked me "what can we do to make this right". An agreement was reached and through the diligent efforts of Ashley (the A-Plus Employee); Mike; and John we are so happy with the outcome. Our gate is beautiful and all of the employees of Viking Fence are committed to ascertaining the satisfaction of their customers. The office sent out a gentleman to review the work; 3 gates and a small run of fencing. We needed quotes for cedar as well as aluminum. The guy was a nice guy but after a week of waiting for his quote the office promised it would be done the next day. 4 days later he indicated it would take another 5 or so days since the aluminum fence company hadn't provided any numbers yet. We waited 2 weeks for the appointment, then after 2 weeks we won't have the quote. No follow up, no proactive communication, really unprofessional. read more

Really bad customer service. The women in the office can't answer any questions. The installers are really really bad. I had both cedar and chain link installed. The wood portion is very crooked, not the correct width or height. The chain link has the expensive privacy slats. They are creased, torn, backward and bent. My only saving grace is that I had them install a small portion of the fence needed just to keep a neighbor out. I plan to have the entire back yard re-fenced and an electronic gate installed. I WILL NOT BE USING VIKING FENCE EVERY AGAIN!!! Search other sites, read other reviews. You'll find that you should use another fence company. read more

Used them about 5 years ago. Sure, I ended up with an adequate fence, but that was the least I expected. That's why I hired "professionals". I had numerous issues, including the fact that they dumped a 50 pound glob of cement in the wooded part of my property, then tried to deny it was them! At the end of it all, I wrote the owner of the company a 5 page letter that was detailed and fair. His response? Crickets. Hopefully they have improved by now, but I would not risk my hard earned money to find out. read more

Do not waste your money. They do not use the property lines given and will not correct the issue when notified unless you pay them 3/4 of the original price. I was already weary just by the negative reviews but I called Viking anyway and had Greg the estimator come out to my property at the beginning of May 2014 to give me an estimate on a 16' automatic gate for my driveway (that took 2 weeks in itself). This is a reasonably simple estimate IMO, just needed the materials since I was to install it myself, so what should have took 10 min to write up and send took an additional two weeks to get an Email; might I mention the only way I even got that was by calling on a Friday morning and of course "Greg is not in the office" but I left a message with the receptionist and I finally got an Email Monday afternoon with my bid. On Tuesday I called back asking for Greg who once again was "not in the office", and left a message with the receptionist for him to call me to make some changes. I got a Call back the next Monday from Greg wanting the details etc and told me he would get the revised estimate out (surprising). SO once again its mid June now and its approaching another 2 weeks since I last talked to him so I call, and I get "Greg's not in the office" well then I get Greg's CELL PHONE number and call but still cant get an answer. Is it really that hard to call someone back? or at least have someone in the office who you can talk too besides the bubbly receptionist who is no help ? Slow is an understatement with this company nothing was done in a timely manner. Maybe they are understaffed or just have horrible customer service who knows. So much for trying to help local businesses, Ill be taking mine somewhere else for this one and ward off others who need fence work done; they obviously don't want it. As an estimator for a large construction company myself who takes pride in their work and knows how this stuff works, I would give Viking fence 0 stars if I could for their lack of professionalism, and would defiantly not even consider using them for a substantial project in the future since they failed at the residential level; their bid will be going in the recycle If I ever receive another.
