We rented about 4 rooms and one of the suites for us and our families and was able to experience several different room types and views. If you don't like your view on the lower floors, ask to move. But we highly recommend staying on the higher floors as a few of the lower floor rooms don't have a view. The coffee and breakfast they bring you in the morning is delicious! We had a decent sized room with a small balcony looking out into the Main Street. The front desk staff were very helpful. Imma told us about the sights to see in the area and the restaurants that were open in the off season. We had looked up a few restaurant we had wanted to visit prior to arrival and Imma called all of them for us to check if they were open before we headed out. Breakfast is on the top floor from 8-10. They had a bunch of cakes, and the standard sliced meats and cheese, boiled eggs and bread. My only complaint is that it starts kind of late, but when we were in a rush to catch the bus and went up at 745, they let us sit down early for breakfast. Overall a great stay at Palazzo Tasso. I'd definitely recommend it to others visiting sorrento.

The hotel has a 15 day cancellation policy to receive a full refund. I notified them 7 days out, but obviously, life threatening emergencies don't generally cooperate with hotel policies. To be clear: I did not stay at the hotel and I did not meet the 15 day cancellation policy. That being said, I did provide the hotel with a surgeon's letter and full contact info to verify our story at day 7. I missed their cutoff date by 8 days. When I explained our situation to the hotel via emails, I was told there would be NO refund. Period! Okay, I understand hotels have policies and can't refund everyone that cancels for any reason. I would think/hope this reason was a bit out of the ordinary for them...but maybe not. What would have been a nice touch/customer-friendly would have been to offer us a full credit for another stay, or even a partial refund as a sign of goodwill. Heck, even refund us 1 night. Nope. No refund. Okay, it is what it is and that was $610 of hard-earned money lost. That being said, every other hotel, airline, rental car, tours, etc., were kind enough to refund our money....and for that I am very grateful, but not Palazzo Tasso!! So, when we do visit Sorrento this Spring I will make sure to avoid this hotel...that is not the type of customer service I want to reward. P.S. It's a charming boutique hotel with stunning, unbelievable views from the balcony of our room (though note, balcony privacy is limited). We were fully prepared to give a 5-star review. However, a disturbing incident on our final night completely changed our perspective and revealed a shocking lack of duty of care from the management. While returning to the hotel via the steep, dark alleyway approach (approx. 50 steps), we found two young women in clear distress. One was nearly unconscious--limp, unable to speak, with dilated eyes--while her friend, who seemed only slightly intoxicated, was struggling to help her. The friend stated they had just been drinking at the Hotel Casa Albertina rooftop bar. As my wife is a nurse, we immediately stopped to assist. Concerned for their safety on the dark steps, we made the logical decision to help the incapacitated woman back up to the hotel lobby, the very establishment that had served them, so she could sober up safely and we could arrange a secure ride home. The receptionist's reaction was appalling. He was immediately hostile, refused help, and demanded we remove her from the premises. We were not accusing anyone of anything; we were simply trying to ensure a patron's safety. The hotel's defensive and aggressive stance was telling and deeply unsettling. I ultimately had to carry this young woman down all 50 steps myself to get her and her friend into a taxi (we confirmed they got home safely). The most unbelievable part was the manager confronting and yelling at us during checkout the next morning, reiterating that we were "wrong" to bring her to the lobby. The complete lack of concern for a customer's well-being is unacceptable. I cannot stress this enough: I would caution anyone, especially women traveling alone or in small groups, to be extremely aware of their surroundings and seriously reconsider patronizing this hotel's rooftop bar. The management's priority is clearly avoiding liability over ensuring patron safety. Their vicious reaction to our good-faith attempt to help was appalling and ruined our honeymoon's final impression. In good conscience, I cannot recommend this hotel or its bar to anyone. The view is not worth the risk.
