Had a walking tour rescheduled and somehow i ended up on a purple bus that ended up stopping here! The lady who guided us through the house was so knowledgeable and kind her speaking gave me chills! Her outfit was amazing as well. If you're around San Diego definitely check out this fun find!!! I took a cute fan and a complimentary post card at the end as well. Amazing!!!

On a whim I decided to text the number on the site to set up a tour- Louise gave me all the information and set us up to meet on Friday (they only accept cash, exact amount preferred). Parking out front was easy to find. You have to wait until your exact time to go inside. No photos on the inside, only the outside of the house. Already pulling up to it I was stunned by how beautiful it is! Louise took us inside right on time and collected payment- it was just us and another family so it was a rather intimate tour. Louise is so knowledgeable about the history of the house, the owner Jesse Shepard, and the era he lived. The home is jaw droppingly beautiful on the inside and Louise was a wonderful tour guide. This place is a true gem and piece of San Diego history. Although they are currently doing renovations, Louise did share they often have events (sounds like some pretty great ones during October) and the renovations are just a reflection of the care put into preserving this house and its history. Please go visit- you will not regret it!

We have always enjoyed doing something different and luckily for me I have a family that enjoys the same things (well, mostly). We do all appreciate historic landmarks, especially when they are local to our hometown. Haunted OC is one of our favorite places to go to find local (within the SD, OC, LA areas) tours rich in history and information. We have been on many of their tours, and they are all equally amazing.  The evening began with a brief introduction and a few do's and do nots in front of the museum. Upon entering we were given lanterns to help light our way along the tour. The inside of Villa Montezuma is just as beautiful if not more as the outside. Amazing hardwood flooring and stained-glass details throughout the home. Charles was our guide, and he is a wealth of information. He truly cares about the history and wellbeing of the home. We were able to tour both the 1st and 2nd floors. The second floor had a timeline of sorts with some interesting information about San Diego and the home. I have seen historic homes sprinkled around San Diego but prior to this tour never knew much about their backstories.  Not only are these tours fun, interesting, and well-done, but they also give back. Proceeds from the tour at Villa Montezuma helps ensure the restoration of this beautiful home as well as keeps the amazing stories of those who have lived there alive. If you are a local make sure you book your tickets through hauntedoc.com for the evening lantern guided tour. If you are not local, this tour is worth the trip out here.

We loved this! The guide was very educated and had a lot of neat information to share. Learned a lot. Definitely a very cool piece of history worth checking out!

At the time of this review, they had been doing weekend tours regularly for about a month. Great history with ties to the Winchester House & the Hotel Del Coronado. Absolutely beautiful! Worth the $15 cash entry fee. The only negatives are that I felt a little rushed and no interior picture taking is allowed. There's so much to see & look at in detail, I didn't feel like I had enough time. It is so amazing in there, *not* taking pictures seems like a minor crime! Definitely go, tho. They desperately need the money to repair a leaking roof.

The San Diego Air & Space Museum was our museum pick for this trip & it was a fun, educational morning! My husband is a retired Army veteran & enjoys planes, aviation history & anything military-related, so this museum was right up his alley. We could have spent hours exploring all of the exhibits, aircraft, artifacts & historical displays. One of the highlights of our visit was meeting a super outgoing docent shortly after we walked in. Somehow, he kept magically popping up throughout the museum during our visit, sharing fascinating tidbits & fun facts about whatever exhibit we happened to be looking at. You could tell he genuinely loved being there & his enthusiasm made the entire experience even more engaging & personal. (My apologies for not remembering his name. He was an Air Force B-52 pilot & bonded with hubby over their shared military service.) Another really cool aspect of the museum is its location directly in the flight path of the airport. Planes were flying overhead every couple of minutes, which honestly added so much atmosphere to the visit. Hearing & seeing aircraft constantly overhead while walking through the exhibits made the whole experience feel extra immersive. The vintage Pacific Southwest Airlines stewardess uniforms on display were awesome! The museum does a great job balancing serious aviation history with quirky, interesting pieces of airline culture & design history. This was definitely a worthwhile visit - whether you are an aviation buff or just looking for an interesting & interactive museum experience. We both had a great time!

I came during the Great Exchange and it was free if you have membership with a participating museum. It's also free for San Diego residents on the third Tuesday of the month. Two things that surprised me: The first being half of upstairs was closed to prepare for new exhibits. Secondly, several Gallery Attendants behaved very strangely and were definitely not friendly or welcoming. There were two different exhibits where I was viewing the museum app on my phone and witnessed the attendants walking around in circles quickly. It was distracting and odd. I got the impression they didn't want me to linger but I ignored them and they finally stopped. I asked a question to another attendant and he seemed annoyed like I was disturbing him. The friendly women security guards were absolutely wonderful! Lastly, free parking was available for several hours as long as you previously registered with the city.
