For what it's worth, I did win "Best Hair" in high school, so if that doesn't convince you, I have a couple more points that might ;) Price -- Unbeatable. I just moved to Los Angeles and I'm sorely missing those prices as I have to find a new barber. Even in that area, I doubt you could find a better deal. Quality -- Incomparable. Every cut I've gotten was perfect, and on instances where it was not, he takes the time to make sure it is. I was once away from the area for a summer and got a haircut at an "award-winning" salon elsewhere only to be severely disappointed. You would think professionals would all do it about the same, especially ones touting accolades like that but they don't, and Sipe's is a cut above the rest. As a bonus Jeff is a great conversationalist; he has a natural curiosity and interest in many topics like sports or movies and will happily put your game on the TV so you'll likely enjoy your time there as well. If it wasn't nearly 3,000 miles away, I'd still be going but since I can't, you can have my seat instead.

The old-school establishment is low on pretense but high on service and craftsmanship. Dave the owner/operator took me in without an appointment 5 minutes before closing & instead of rushing me out the door asked a ton of questions so that he could give me exactly what I wanted. He took his time and it showed. What makes this place unique is the attention to detail. Dave hit all of the areas that the people at the Chain stores always miss (eyebrows, ears, back of neck). When someone owns their own store it always shows in the final product. I would advise calling ahead for an appointment, as it seemed he was pretty booked up with regulars who have been keeping this place a closely guarded secret. When I read an article in the Trading Post about Buz's, I knew I had to give it a shot. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how cozy and small the shop really was, and how the people cutting hair were friendly and engaging their customers in conversation, it seemed as if these were regulars that were known by name - that's exactly what I'm looking for in the place where I get my hair cut. The cosmetologist cut my hair, and listened to exactly what I wanted. I'm very happy with this haircut, and don't mind spending $12 every 2 weeks to keep it up, and supporting such a wonderful, welcoming establishment. There's a cooler in the corner with drinks for $1, a nice supply of take-home grooming supplies for sale, a TV, and a nice breeze blowing through the shop. Overall, it's how I imagine the place my grandfathers got themselves groomed, but there's also a full service salon so as not to leave the rest of the family out. I'll be back for my next haircut/shave, and hope I can become a regular as Buz's as well. Be prepared with cash, as they do not accept credit or debit.
