All they had in the case were already quartered. I asked and the went to the back returning with a whole bird. Weighed it slapped a price on It and sent me on my way. Great experiences don't have to be huge, sometimes it's the little things that mean the most. Fast forward to this afternoon, as I walk in 2 employees greeting me. The store is clean, selection is adequate and the employees are courteous and friendly. Produce looks fresh, purchased salad fixings today and I'm pleased.

This store has the basic grocery items one might need for people living in town which is nice. They…read morehave a butcher and deli area in the back area of the store. The prices are not the lowest but they are not outlandish and they do have sales from time to time which is nice. They accept the commons forms of payment as well as things such as WIC or EBT/SNAP. They also process money orders through cash payment at their customer service both and have an ATM near the entrance. The cashiers have always been polite and handled transactions smoothly for me and my family. The store is older but has always been clean when we have shopped there. I really don't have any complaints just my own experience shopping there and my older teens walking down to buy snacks or to grab things like milk or juice for the family. We like having the store to shop at nearby and supporting local businesses.

I can't sing enough of the praises for the applesauce and pumpkin donut holes. They both are so moist and delicious. I can't say that I'm not one to frequently run to cake donuts but these were exceptional. They also sell a variety of other fun fall treats like popcorn balls, whipped maple syrup cream, frozen pies, apple cider and bundles of fresh apples. You can enter the store without having to pay admission for Conner Prairie. Note that the store is only open seasonally. The parking lot is conveniently located right in front of the store and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall, a cozy and fun stop with all the fall vibes.

I was treated to a caramel apple as part of a Yelp event and this was honestly one of the best caramel apples I've had! Fresh, crispy apple with rich delicious caramel that was just the right texture. Even the nuts were fresh and tasty! I bought a cider slushie and doughnut to enjoy at the picnic tables outside. This really is a lovely seating area, but be warned; the yellow jackets are in their usual fall frenzy and they looooooove doughnuts and cider. Ahhh...fall in Indiana...anyway...there is a lot of room to walk around the property without going into the paid section of Conner Prairie, and the yellow jackets thin out a bit away from the picnic area. The slushie was refreshing and delicious and doughnut was fresh and tasty! I also bought an apple fritter which was excellent even after sitting in its bag on my counter until after dinner; it was still crispy on the outside with just the right amount of glaze and the flavor was excellent. All of the chocolate items looked great as well; I must sample some of these on a future trip! The volunteers who run the Apple Store are friendly and incredibly efficient! Even though it was hopping at 12:30 on a Sunday, they moved people through very quickly.

I always thought that the screen that flashed at the check out had something to do with points. But this time I asked. I was informed that it's just "asking for a donation" and when I think about how many times I saw this and I wasn't asked I was shocked. I have no problem giving something as a donation if it is for a good cause. Well me alone is at least $25 per month that they would get because I gas up both cars. How many other people are not having a chance to donate that might if given the opportunity?

It wasn't a long time, but in an empty store with two employees visible, I felt ignored. Then I thought, maybe they think I'm not ready, due to where I was standing. So, I walked up to the register and watched Jon stare intensely at the beverage dispensers from the kitchen area. He came over and assisted me, hurriedly, and then rushed off. He seemed annoyed when I asked if I could have a receipt because he had to come back to do so. Because I'm nosey, I stuck around to see what the issue was over by the drink dispensers. I watched him walk up to what I believe was the coffee machine and watched as he grabbed a cup from underneath the dispenser and brought it up to his lips. Turns out that he was just jonesing for a hit of caffeine!

I had never heard of a Ruler store before moving to the Muncie area. I didn't know what I was…read moremissing! Ruler is basically Kroger's version of an Aldi. The products are Kroger brand and some name brand as well. The prices are super cheap and comparable to Aldi. You get a cart with a quarter and get your quarter back when you return it. You bag our own items, bags are $0.10 each or you can collect empty boxes from around the store as you shop for free. Some items I pass on getting here because I can get them for the same price elsewhere, mainly freezer items. But it's a stock-up store for great prices on boxed and canned goods ($0.26 for a box of mac & cheese!), cereals, coffee (under $4 for a box of Kcups), produce, and dairy items.

It's worth the annoyabce though because they have very good prices on all of their food! It kind of has an Aldi feel. Since it is owned by Kroger, you can find lots of Kroger brand items at an even less expensive price; like all natural peanut butter for $1.49!
