This spot is a Central Indiana fall classic. They've been around for more than 40 years making apple fritters, apple pies, apple cider donuts and pumpkin cider donuts. I can't sing enough of the praises for the applesauce and pumpkin donut holes. They both are so moist and delicious. I can't say that I'm not one to frequently run to cake donuts but these were exceptional. They also sell a variety of other fun fall treats like popcorn balls, whipped maple syrup cream, frozen pies, apple cider and bundles of fresh apples. You can enter the store without having to pay admission for Conner Prairie. Note that the store is only open seasonally. The parking lot is conveniently located right in front of the store and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall, a cozy and fun stop with all the fall vibes. read more

I had been to Conner Prairie before, but had never made it to the Apple Store until now and am now thinking I need to make this an annual trip! I was treated to a caramel apple as part of a Yelp event and this was honestly one of the best caramel apples I've had! Fresh, crispy apple with rich delicious caramel that was just the right texture. Even the nuts were fresh and tasty! I bought a cider slushie and doughnut to enjoy at the picnic tables outside. This really is a lovely seating area, but be warned; the yellow jackets are in their usual fall frenzy and they looooooove doughnuts and cider. Ahhh...fall in Indiana...anyway...there is a lot of room to walk around the property without going into the paid section of Conner Prairie, and the yellow jackets thin out a bit away from the picnic area. The slushie was refreshing and delicious and doughnut was fresh and tasty! I also bought an apple fritter which was excellent even after sitting in its bag on my counter until after dinner; it was still crispy on the outside with just the right amount of glaze and the flavor was excellent. All of the chocolate items looked great as well; I must sample some of these on a future trip! The volunteers who run the Apple Store are friendly and incredibly efficient! My only wish is that The Apple Store was open all year round! Why isn't it open all year round? Apple cider donuts are good any day of the year, don't you agree? In any case, I try to visit this place during the fall when it opens for the season, so I can get my apple cider donuts and pumpkin spice donuts. These donuts literally melt in your mouth. Like literally, as in, they actually do. You need to try them, if you haven't already. Only my favorite place of my childhood! It wasn't until recently that I realized that when people talk about the "Apple Store," they're usually talking about the Mac computer store... To me, the only Apple Store that exists is the one with caramel apples, located at Conner Prairie. The best caramel apples are from here. The caramel is delicious and super loaded into the huge apples. They also sell frozen cider slushies, apple fritters, caramel apple bowls, chocolates, and popcorn. The staff is kind and efficient and the proceeds go to keeping Conner Prairie running. Conner Prairie is so special and educational and I love supporting them by eating! Why not!? read more

They have plenty of tasty treats to pick from - caramel apples, donuts, etc. I'm partial to the pumpkin donut holes myself...super moist! This is usually a once a year visit for me. Fall isn't complete without a trip to the iconic Apple Store at Conner Prairie. In its 31st year, the Apple Store operates Sept. 1 to Oct. 31 by a group of Prairie Alliance volunteers who go through nearly 15,000 apples in the span of eight weeks (!!!). Money raised from Apple Store sales benefits Conner Prairie's educational programming and exhibits. The Apple Store is on the north side of the parking lot next to the SOTP entrance (it's clearly marked "Apple Store.") You do not need to pay admission to CP to enter (although I recommend you tie your visit with a trip to CP because it's AWESOME). This is a small but mighty farm market store with fall decor, baskets filled with apples, apple jam, apple butter, apple pies...yeah, you get the picture. Must love apples. Grab some of your favorite local artisan products, too, like Indiana Pickle Company, Salsa Me Crazy and B. Happy Peanut Butter. I was so stoked to see these additions on the shelves! The real winners are at the back counter. Cider slushies, popcorn, caramel apples, caramel apples with nuts, toffee apples, salted caramel apples, and this year, a special pearlescent bicentennial apple with the works: caramel, nuts, chocolate, icing and sprinkles. OH and DONUT forget a Jack's Donuts of Carmel! They make an irresistible apple sauce donut (perfection) and pumpkin donut. How bout them apples?? That's what I said when I saw how big the fresh apples were at this adorable store! I FINALLY took a trip out to Connor Prarrie this weekend specifically to check out The Apple Store. Luckily this store is open to the public and not limited to just Connor Prarrie visitors (take a right when you first pull in and its towards the back of the parking lot). The store itself is not very big but there is quite a selection of fresh & local food items including apples of all varieties, jams/preserves (blueberry, strawberry, pineapple, gooseberry) as well as both apple and pumpkin butter! When you walk in the first thing you'll most likely notice is the smell of freshly baked donuts. On the morning I visited, there were apple fritters and donut holes - pumpkin & apple. I went with the apple donut holes which were moist and had a nice blend of apple and cinnamon flavor. They also have a huge assortment of candy apples - some with nuts and some dipped in chocolate! I believe some were even rolled in nuts and then dipped in chocolate!! Definitely a candy apple lovers paradise :) There are some home decorations as well - mostly Halloween and fall themed. The apple store was finally open for the season the last weekend of Symphony on the Prairie! In all the years I had never been inside. So many yummy items to buy! We got some apple spice donuts and a fresh sliced caramel apple! Both were amazing. They sell whole dipped apples, but we figured it was easier to eat and share during the show. It was a super packed night. We visited before the show started and while the lines were long we got through very quickly. They sell fall themed items as well as snacks and some local fare. I make it a point to the go to the Apple Store every year. It's a tradition that a friend and I have started and it's a fun thing. Not only that, it gets us to Conner Prairie, as well. They have lots of kitschy things, ceramic platters, decorative items, candles, etc. And of course, they have apples. Apples dipped in caramel, apples on their own, apple cider, apple slushies, apple donuts. They also have pumpkin spice donuts (by the way...the donuts are stupidly good). But it's worth the trip over for some of the most yummiest treats fall has to offer. While a little pricey (especially after produce prices skyrocketed in the wake of this past summer's drought), the Apple Store at Conner Prairie has become a fall tradition for our family. We love grabbing a gallon of cider, picking up some carmel apples, and perhaps even a cider slushie or other treats. My personal recommendation is getting a bag of popcorn, and asking for a bowl hot caramel in which to dip the popcorn. It's the best "caramel corn" you'll ever have--if a bit of a mess. Small little store with its own parking lot off to the side of the main entrance to Conner Prairie. It has Halloween decorations and tons of chocolates, candies, peanut butter, pickles and jams. There are caramel and chocolate covered apples. I'm in a sugar coma from the excellent pumpkin donut holes and pumpkin and apple cake donuts. Wow they were well made. I bought an apple pie slice and a small Apple cider slushie. It tastes like liquid apple sauce but amazingly refreshing and delicious. Good place to come and gain weight. :) read more

Nothing is better than a caramel apple from Conner Prairie! I have driven an hour just to get one and bring some back to my friends. The caramel apples are absolutely divine, but also the apple cider and apple cider slushies as well as all the candy are all delectable. My family and I intended to go to Conner Prairie while we were visiting Indiana. Unfortunately, we went on Halloween and it was closed. However, the apple store was open!
