The food is always consistent and always amazing. This is my absolute favorite restaurant in the Youngstown area.

So disappointed... the place came highly recommended by a friend and yet I struggle to find much positive to say about the experience. The first issue which should have turned us away at the door was the noise.. blaring music turned loud enough to be distorted causing diners to shout across the tables, in such a small space really was unnerving. As far as the food goes, the two items we were told to try were the rice balls and the brussel sprouts... the rice balls were just blah, tasted like fried cheese with marinara sauce. Dull. The brussel sprouts were burnt chunks and inedible . My ribeye was the only positive in the whole meal, it was cooked perfectly and tasty but the sauce on the side was not good and the arugula was even worse. My wife had the cod which she enjoyed well enough but complained of the small portion size and the no bread offering. Bottom line is we should have went next door because that place does it right. read more

Finally tried this place and the food was SO good! We had the kettle chips as an app for the four of us and ate every last chip! I had the Spring St. Chicken as an entree and it did not disappoint! I had leftovers and they were just as good the next day. Our server was also terrific and I loved that their beers were all local. Would definitely recommend and will be back! read more

This is without a doubt one of the better restaurants in Youngstown, Good sized portions combined with great food and service makes this a special place to dine. I've attempted to go to this restaurant several times, but there does not seem to be any consistency with hours. I also feel as though it's a little bit confusing that there is a gym next-door called studio pump, but that's not of any fault of VP. Nice friendly place. Large amount of craft, and non standard beers. Nice variety of drinks, and food. Crowd is generally middle aged and mature. Food is upscale and good quality. Edited this to 5 stars after eating here multiple times. The food simply put, is the best around. I have never had a poor appetizer or meal in the dozen times I have eaten there. It is just the best place around. I have eaten out at the local restaurants hundreds of times and this is the top of my list at this time. If I had 1 small complaint. I would like a little more rotation of the menu. But the specials help. read more

I can't say enough about this place! I've had over half the menu and everything has been fantastic! A few of my favorites would be the Cali burger, the pork shanks, paella, and I can't ever get enough of the fries! I look forward to checking the daily specials at 3pm on their Facebook page. The beers on tap are always unique. As a beer lover there's always at least 3-4 I've never had, including local beers. Wine list is always great as well. You could tell they put just as much effort into selecting their drinks as they do the food! Everyone I've turned onto "the pump" loves it! read more

I visited here once with a friend who visited when they first opened and was highly displeased. Despite that experience we got some small plates and were pleasantly surprised with the friendly, attentive staff, and the quality of the food. I ordered the muscles and hibachi vegetables which were both really good. The two of us ordered a ginger cocktail that wasn't the best. It didn't have much flavor and what flavor it did have wasn't enjoyable. Overall I will be back. I do wish the prices were a tiny bit cheaper considering portion size, but the quality of the food is good. read more

We ate here last night for dinner. We were a party of 9, and servers had us seated in a timely manner. The menu is t huge, which I loved! The children's menu is also simple, but don't let that fool you, children received a large amount of food. Dinner was delicious!! The amount of food was abundant and delicious, no one from our table left hungry. I will definitely be back and will recommend this restaurant to anyone looking! read more

I've always envied folks lucky enough to live near one of those restaurants featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Well, no more! With an eclectic mix of far flung cuisines, Asian to Italian, the Village Pump will impress you. It'll take several trips to sample the menu and the wait staff is knowledgeable in helping your selection. Prices are modest, the quality is not. Let's hope Guy Fieri stays away, it's tough to get a table now! (Our favorites: paella, spicy Asian noodles, pork short ribs and fish sticks.) read more

Super friendly staff and amazing food! We go here a couple times a week and we have never had a bad meal since they have opened. Obviously we aren't the only ones that feel this way because the place has become somewhat of a local hang out where we have become friends with so many people that also frequent there often. Love that they have new specials daily in addition to all the other great items on their menu. They also have a great selection of beers on draft that changes often (that Will the bartender is very well versed on). It is an overall great atmosphere with awesome service, great people, and some of the best food in the area. read more

We came for an early dinner, and were really impressed by the menu selections, quality of food, and atmosphere. My husband really likes IPAs and they had quite the selection! We had the scotch eggs which were really good! The portion sizes were good as well. We will definitely come back! read more

One of the best restaurants in Youngstown! All the food is awesome. Personal favs: Scotch eggs, pork belly, Caribbean jerk cod, ribeye, Spring St chicken, house burger, hibachi veggies, Brussel sprouts. Never had a bad meal! Great beer selection too! Staff is very friendly and makes you feel "at home". Eaten there a bunch of times and always leave saying how good it was! If you haven't been, definitely need to try! read more

Great place but I kind of lost the ordering challenge so I'll talk about everyone else's food. The vegetables were amazing bar none. Brussels sprouts had crispy brown edges and balance well with the vinegar. Yum yum veggies were well yum. Salmon, burger and stir fry were top notch. My appetizer was disappointing. Not bad not great. Wine list was decent and on the lower end of mark ups. Beer selection is broad and eclectic. I'd definitely return. Maybe order all veggies. read more

Food quality much lower than the server/owner's menu description (and hence, our expectations) would suggest. They do not seem to understand the meanings of the terms "organic" or "gluten-free". For people with food allergies, severe intolerances, or autoimmune diseases such as Celiac, this makes all the difference. Rubbery chicken and sopping salad were both very disappointing, but since the deep fryer is shared with other breaded items containing gluten, the one highlight (taste-wise) of the meal (falafel) is not something our family can enjoy again. read more

We wanted to support a new local restaurants. We went a Thursday evening, the place is small, tables are very close together so it is loud. We order drinks which were delivered quickly, order the mediterranean appetizer and WOW what a disappointment. Very small plate and overpriced.
