The reviews were good so instead of another place we came here. It's 1:40pm on a Sunday. We were given a brunch menu (very limited) thought about leaving so we could get a burger but decided since we have 8.5 hours left to drive we would just get something. Not 5 minutes after we place an order the table behind us gets a full menu, with burgers and sandwiches on it. Am I a bit PO'd.... YEP Also the waitress doesn't smile. She looks miserable, geez, at least make an effort! So I ordered chicken and waffles and my husband ordered a few wings. As for the food..... The chicken tenders are AAMazing! Waffle is good and the hubs like the ginger lime wings although a small side of sauce and a few celery and carrots would make a better presentation. But for the diamond in the rough. I can only assume it was the manager/owner that delivered our food. I asked why we had a limited menu as I read here on Yelp I should have the prime grilled cheese. This man offed it to me on the house now that is some great customer service. I had to decline bc we have such a long drive ahead of us but he hands down was so kind. So I'm going with 4 stars. To sum this up I would happily come back just bc of his kind service! As we were finishing up Doug the owner came by again and he is a great reason to visit this place. Don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case, a restaurant by its exterior. I almost made that mistake when I walked into this place. What looks like a nondescript bar with a modern twist is actually a goldmine of appetizers. My family of five descended upon the place today and we ordered a slew of appetizers. Let me tell you, it was a feast for the ages. The place was immaculate, the staff was warm and welcoming, and the service was impeccable. I had a hard time choosing a favorite, but if I had to pick, it would be the Brussels sprouts and crab Rangoon dip, closely followed by the lime wings. We're all from different parts of town, but we'll definitely be back. It's a hidden gem worth discovering. read more

We have been spending the day at the hospital. We came to this place as it was highly recommended like the best place to eat around this area.. It has been nothing but a full disappointment. Even though their hummus appetizer is good and the food also was tasty. They don't have enough servers to keep up with the volume of people that are showing up. Our food finally arrived 36 minutes later. This place is definitely rocking, but unfortunately it's making everybody else disappointed because you can tell by looking at some of the people here they're tired of waiting for the food. They are more worry about cleaning than making sure that the food comes out at a decent. They're even taking more time to even bring the billed. Looking around the couple that was seating in front of us got their food and it was wrong to the point that they didn't even touch the food. Sending the whole meal back. However, they took so long to come back to check on them that they decide to cash out and just pay for what they had and leave. I do not blame the servers management should be pre-plan on a Saturday night, especially with nice weather to be busy. I am an out of town, but I can tell you one thing I will never come back. The place is clean. The music is good and the food was tasty, but that's about all it is. read more

Dropped in far a quick bite and walked into Bingo night. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. It was a little louder than normal but very comfortable. Service at the bar was good. Mark was attentive without being annoying. The food was good. I had the pesto chicken wrap which was good. Could have used more pesto and there was a nice amount of chicken. Stopped at Risers while passing through Youngstown and it totally hit the spot. Great beer selection--especially the local brews--and the food was solid all around. Our waiter recommended the Sriracha chicken sandwich and wow... absolutely divine. The vibe was chill, the prices were fair, and the staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about local breweries. I do not always give out fives, but we had a wonderful brunch / lunch at Risers on Saturday. We walked in around 12:45 and sat at the bar. We were greeted by two workers immediately and given a brunch menu...which ended at 1:00. The bar and restaurant were clean and decorated great! My husband got the breakfast burrito and said it might have been the best breakfast burrito he has ever had. He said the flavors were amazing and unique. I had the chicken fingers and they were so fresh and the breading was amazing. The fries were good too along with the honey mustard and ranch. The only thing I can complain about was the ketchup...so so bad! I say Heinz or nothing!!! read more

Service was great - we sat at the bar and she came to help us before we sat down. It's a typical bar with tables and bar seating. Quite a number of items to choose from including weekly specials. We were on our way home and looking for a new place to try in the area and I recall seeing this on a Facebook page. I'd say don't judge a book by it's cover as it is tucked away in a grocery store plaza. There is a small patio and when you walk in, it is a beautiful bar with plenty of TVs and mixture of hi top and low tables. There was a specials menu, special drink menu, and regular menu was extensive and more than regular bar type food. We started with the crab rangoon dip with fresh wonton chip drizzled with sweet chili sauce. It was so fresh and tasty. They also had a large oversized pretzel with dips, hot chips and onion dip. They also had large salads which looked excellent, assortment of confit wings, burgers and wraps. I ordered the mac n cheese and added fried chicken. It was so creamy and the chicken was so fresh and tender. I only wish there could have been a drizzle of a sauce to break up the richness. My husband ordered the sriracha chicken sandwich, it was so big it did not even fit on the bun. He said it was amazing. He also ordered a special cocktail ( he worked in the industry for awhile so he is particular with drinks/food) said it was excellent. The staff was amazing and friendly. This place is hopping on a Friday night, but we were greeted promptly, drinks ordered and brought, manager checked with every table to make sure that the wait staff was doing their job. It is a noisy sports bar with muted TV's, and Country Music playing, but not too noisy to have a conversation. They serve locally grown chicken a variety of ways. I ordered the Blueberry salad with grilled chicken, my husband ordered the flaming hot chicken tenders with fries. They have fried or baked fish on Fridays only. We only had appetizers, but they were delicious. The chips are enough to serve a crowd with the yummy French onion dip. The pickles and homemade ranch were just as good. Went to Riser for the first time last Sunday for brunch. Our server was Haley, who did an excellent job. She is very professional and personable. I opted for the brunch bowl, which is two eggs any style over diced potatoes, sausage, bacon, onions, peppers, and cheese. It's served with two slices of crusty bread. Delicious and filling. Youngstown restaurants with unique menus are few and far between, but look no further than Riser! Tucked in a grocery store plaza, it doesn't look like much from outside, but it's a pretty cool place. I came here with family on a Saturday night, and the cozy restaurant was pretty packed. We sat at the bar and were greeted soon after. The bartender was not overly friendly, but the service was quick and efficient. They have plenty of local beers on tap as well as mainstays, but go local! The Birdfish IPA was awesome. We started out with the peri peri chips which were on special, and came served with a peri peri dip. OMG. THESE CHIPS. I'm usually not one to go with a basic appetizer, but I'm so glad we did. They were super thin, crispy, salty, and just so good. They have hot chips on their everyday menu, which I assume are the same just with different seasoning. You've got to get these chips!!! For dinner, I had the bacon jam burger. This was really tasty and had textural elements that made for a really good bite. The french fries were OK- a little soft rather than crispy, but they did the trick. My mom had wings, which were really tender and delicious. The lime-ginger wing flavor was really different but recommended. My stepdad had the hot chicken, which comes with all your hot chicken necessities: cole slaw, bread, pickles, and the most delicious mac and cheese. The chicken was a little greasy, but good. Everyone was satisfied, but not overwhelmingly so. Also, none of our stomachs felt great the next day...... Overall, it was a good meal, but not anything to write home about. Riser definitely has one of the more unique menus in Youngstown, and it was a nice change of pace from pasta and pizza. There are plenty of creative menu items, they just need to work on their execution. But those chips. I'd go back just for the chips!!! Just moved to Boardman and have been looking for a good place to grab a bite and have a beer. I stopped into this place for lunch, Thursday, 25 March, 2031. Walked in and really liked the interior. Big bar with a lot of TVs. Great for watching a game. Decent selection of draft beer, I prefer draft to bottled beer, and whiskey. Pretty extensive menu. I had the Poke bowl, it was delicious. The server/bartender never stopped moving. She was the only server. Taking care of the bar, tabels and patio. Constantly making sure everyone had what they needed and checking with the kitchen. So I'll start by saying the wings were pretty good. They're not breaded and they're fall of the bone tender with a plethora of sauce option. I understand this is bar food, but, my salad came with literally HUGE pieces of onion layers on it. Like there's no one on planet earth that could ever eat that amount or size of onion in an salad. Okay okay so I could cut it up, right? Yes, I did do that but let's be honest, it doesn't create the thin onion pieces that are traditionally on salad. I ordered to go and I feel like this is pretty classic not caring what goes on carry out orders because the customer isn't there to complain.
