This is your above average on stop road trip quick stop for drinks, caffeine, subs, snacks, stretching your legs, gas, and so on. Located right off the 40 highway, the Village Store has a gas station attached to it with pretty standard prices, an indoor Starbucks mini station, the Village Sub shop, and a standard 4-5 aisle selection of junk food and snacks for the road. I stopped 3 times in search for healthy energy drinks in a 120 mile distance coming from West/inland and this was the best selection I could find. Drink wise, the best options to my liking included Vitamin Waters, Non-dairy Muscle Milk, Organic energy drinks (with 44g of sugar), and the self serve Starbucks station. For food I enjoyed a #13 spicy chicken and black bean sandwich at the Village Sub, which was supposed to be wrapped in a tortilla but the gal working was new and spoke little English, plus the sound barrier that protects the sandwich bar from bugs and people's germs made it difficult for her to hear me - wheat bread was still tasty though for $5 road trip food. The parking lot here is very large and accommodating and there's picnic tables outside and in for groups and families to eat at together, plan their next routes, etc. There were bathrooms inside to the back center, though I didn't try them myself. The line moves very fast and the customer service was kind and attentive at the front counter. Overall, just a good quick stop for a decent bite, refill, and stretch out.

Stopped by to grab lunch while we were in town. Subs and service were great. Would definitely go back if in the area.

Very clean bathrooms and store. The subs are really good but the gas is the highest around.

I was told to go through the exit door, so that is how I knew I missed the correct entrance. Before I got to the restaurant, I admired the decor outside. The water fountain display with the red wine, and the other decor. They created a welcoming atmosphere. When I entered the restaurant, I was immediately taken to be seated in the dining area. The high ceilings and attention to the little details were noticed. The grapevines interwined with the twinkle lights were a nice touch. I enjoyed the space between the tables too, so guests didn't feel on top of each other. I was told that much of the wood used was repurposed cypress, which adds to the authentic rustic charm. I was offered a sample of wine, but they only had alcoholic versions, so I was given a glass of water. I went with the citrus salad with grilled shrimp, and the waitress made sure the raspberry vinaigrette dressing was on the side. The salad had fresh mixed greens, grilled shrimp, avocado, tomatoes, pineapple and feta cheese. I really enjoyed the avocado in it, as it added a creamy texture. I did get to order the scuppernong non-alcoholic version with my meal. It came out in a plastic cup, though, rather than a glass. So that was a little disappointing. My waitress was friendly and attentive, and was the one who mentioned the World's Largest Adirondack Chair to visit, so I appreciated learning of another stop to add to my list. The Bistro at Duplin Winery was a great experience. I am usually a little hesitant to visit a winery as a non-drinker, but I liked that Duplin Winery offered non-alcoholic versions, so I could enjoy the flavors too.

In keeping with my string of world's largest, Duplin Winery, in Rose Hill, NC, is the World's…read morebest-selling muscadine winery and the oldest winery in North Carolina. It opened back in 1972 and has been family-owned for three generations. Their wines are typically made from muscadine and scuppernong grapes. I learned that they also carry Mothervine Wine, which comes from clippings of the 400-year-old vine in Roanoke Island. Duplin Winery was allowed to take clippings from this Mother Vine and established a new vineyard. Legend suggests the vine may have been planted by Croatan Native Americans or settlers of the Lost Colony. Scuppernong grapes are a white muscadine variety that is North Carolina's official state fruit. Duplin Winery is also known as the winery of the South. There is a large parking lot. The building's exterior looks rustic. Inside, you will be greeted when you enter the door. Remember to get your basket or cart, as it is difficult to carry items without one. The first room has the wines and food products. They had a section for sampling the dips, salsas, crackers and other items. The other room has the wine tasting and gift shop. Then, beyond that, there is the Bistro. I was delighted to find non-alcoholic wines. They offered Muscadine cider, Scuppernong (white), and Muscadine (red). I left with all three. While I didn't get to try the specific Mothervine wine, I did get to try the Alcohol-Free Scuppernong at the Bistro, which features the same historic state fruit variety that made the Mother Vine famous! The gift shop has items to find those perfect gifts or just something for yourself. From the rustic charm to the friendly greeting at the door, Duplin Winery truly lives up to its reputation as the 'Winery of the South.' It's a great stop for the history, the gifts, and the delicious sweet treats.

I think the "cheese platter" is misleading there, we thought we were going to get more of a charcuterie board type of thing.. 30$ for 4 tastes of wine and some crackers/ dip, so maybe worth it ? I wouldn't go again
