I really want to rate this store a sort of 3.5 or a 4 minus. We really like going here and do find…read morenice things . But despite a nice variety of items, the prices can be high. I was very disappointed in the childrens clothing. They can only sell what they get donated but I noted condition issues and not much available in some sizes. I thought many of the items should have been on rack of 50 cent items because of the heavy wear of the items. Specialty items like nice gift items, vintage and antique items have antique shop prices not thrift shop. Maybe they need the high prices to support their location costs and their charity support. But there are very few deals. However they have a few racks of $1 items and clearance, and we've picked up several great deals hidden away on these racks. I have also found some nice shoes on my visits. I like this thrift shop but I agree with other reviews about prices. I did see a dress from a designer I know gets $200 new for a dress retail that was $20 in this store, but the dress itself was going to be looking for that one buyer who would look good in the dress. Just because a dress is designer doesn't make it valuable if no one wants it! Anyway, I think it is worth a trip and remember to bring your own bags and ask about discounts.

But I came along anyway and was very pleasantly surprised! We went in to buy my grandmother a quilt for her new bed. We had some great options- some beautiful ones for $85+, and some cheaper (but still nice) ones around $40-50. We found a $45 quilt that she will really like. My mom felt that some of the prices were much better than you'd find in other places, and some of the prices were about the same. Along the way, we all managed to get sidetracked. I bought an adorable green striped apron for $12. My mom bought a bunch of striped dish towels for 50 cents each, 2 kinds of pillows (one blue with white seashells and one with red/blue stripes) for $10 each, and potholders. My sister bought some sheets for a twin-size bed which were really cheap (I believe about $15 each). The people working in the store were very friendly and offered to help us multiple times. The store wasn't very big but had a lot of fun things in it (even for someone who doesn't like linens!). It did, however, get crowded- even though we were there about 10 minutes after it opened. I spent about $180 on 4 sale bras, a camisole, a leather fall top, and a pair of casual summer pants in a funky print. The bras I purchased last year, also on sale, have become my favorites so I was looking to add more. At this time of year all the jewelry is 50% off as are many other items. They carry some new fall and winter items as well as plenty of after season summer outfits, from mix and match from an Italian company, to mother/daughter bathing suits, short shorts and long trendy jeans. I visited California this summer and many of the items have a distinctly California coast vibe to them. One lady was shopping for a long dress and she looked good in at least two of the ones she modelled, all on sale for 50% off. Last year my mom purchased a number of the Italian one size outfits and was looking to add pieces to them, but the sizing this year was smaller than last year. The proprietor told us many people had trouble with the sizing this year which may account for why she had more left than one would want end of season. I find the items to be affordable for a bit higher end beach wear especially at off season. The proprietor knows her merchandise and is very helpful with questions about fit and quality. I know all of the items I purchased last year became wardrobe favorites, and I was slightly disappointed not to find the same number items I really wanted to take home. Never the less we may make one more stop before the week is out. I would say the clothing and accessories are mid priced for a beach town, different than you find in other stores, a bit beach trendy and would appeal to a mature buyer for some items and a younger buyer interested in California style beach wear. Let me say it is further up 3rd Ave than most of the shops so you can miss it, but there is convenient parking and worth a visit if you are shopping in the area.

Boutique at the Beach has some of the most adorable CA style clothing I have come across outside of CA. And the prices? They are extremely reasonable. I purchased 14 items on my first shopping trip there- I couldn't stop! I will definitely be a frequent customer and stop by often to make some additions to my wardrobe! Thanks for such a cute shop!
