Salon Massimo has a beautiful crew of skilled, talented and personable hair stylists! I love Bella who has colored my hair for years and does my eyebrows perfectly!!! I receive constant compliments on my brows and hair. My teenage daughter will ONLY let Bella do her hair and recently let Bella give her highlights for the first time ever !! My teenage son will ONLY go to Massimo for haircuts!! They won't go anywhere else but Salon Massimo . Also, if Bella isn't free, I am more than 100% comfortable and confident to go with any other stylist. So yes, I travel from Old Saybrook Connecticut to Branford to have our hair done. I absolutely loved my experience at Salon Massimo, and specifically with Kira. Myself, my sister, and my mother all had our hair and make-up done on my wedding day in September. Kira did both my hair and make-up for my trial and day of. She was incredible, such a talented stylist and make-up artist. So just to be clear I, shaved bald for many years, did not have any direct service at the salon. My Fiancé however did and let me say I have no idea how much it cost but I would have paid 10 times as much for the look on her face when our son and I came to pick her up. She walked across the street like a model and had a glow around her as if she was the center of a renaissance painting. They made her feel special and more importantly she saw herself the way I see her everyday as the most beautiful woman in the world. read more

I left my hair dresser of fifteen years and have been trying for the past two to find a new one. And I'm so happy I don't have to look anymore. I originally ran into this little gem of a salon for my sister in laws wedding up dos. And everyone was very pleasant. So I decided to give this place a go for a haircut, since my hair is literally split at the bottom. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm to make a future appointment and she said jazmin could take me right then. They close at 3 on Saturdays. Jazmin was really friendly and asked me what I wanted and then she added some things and kept asking me how I felt about it. (I'm so weird about cutting my hair) and I thought that was great. She was really kind and asked questions - but not annoying like I feel like some hairdressers are. Another thing to note was that I was the only customer she was working on! Believe it or not, most hairdressers fit in my cut around other coloring or foiling. And even tho she knew I colored my hair by myself, she didn't try to upsell me her color or anything. She went through all the products she used and why and why she liked them. She did a blow out and I was on my way in an hour - amazing! Ask for Jazmin! The hair cuts are very reasonably priced at $55....my original hairdresser got up to 75.00!!!! read more

Salon Massimo is really a gem! I got a haircut today (done by Massimo himself) and I was so impressed with the level of service. I was welcomed with a smile and offered a beverage. Massimo took time to ask me what I was looking for, then give his honest professional (and very polite) opinion. I was also given step-by-step instructions on how to easily maintain the salon-quality styling I had just received. The salon is very clean and modern, but not at all stuffy. The staff is welcoming and Massimo seemed like a genuinely nice guy. They seem to have struck the perfect balance of elegant professionalism with a comfortable kindness. I went here over a year ago...and my hair still isn't right. They were very lovely people and the salon was nice looking, they got me in for an appointment right away. The lady who cut my hair used a razor scissor and damaged my hair so badly. Initially it was a cute cut...but after a month my hair was more frizzy and actually splitting up the whole hair shaft. I eventually got a cut from another salon and the hairdresser told me the damage was due to the razor. I realize she probably didn't intend to damage by hair but still. Danielle didn't just cut my hair. She gave me the full hairstyle experience. It was my first time at the salon and they made me feel like I had been coming for there years! I brought in a reference photo and she worked with me to figure out how to best adapt it to my hair and made it work for me. The entire time she explained the best products to use, how to maintain the cut and offered coloring advice (already booked my next appointment!) She also took the time to show me several different looks I could achieve with the style, from low-maintenance casual to full curls for a night out. You can tell that she genuinely cares about educating her clients about the style's upkeep, which I totally appreciate! Most importantly: I love my haircut and can't wait to come back! (This is coming from a broke, 20-something who usually goes years without a professional cut and style. I just was never able to justify the expense. So, that's a pretty big deal.) The salon itself is nice and clean, and in a great spot right in the center of Branford with lots of parking. Everyone there was super nice, especially Cara at the front desk - she even made me coffee even though it was 7 at night! Plus, they have an excellent referral program. A friend of mine who goes frequently referred me to the salon and we both end up getting a discount. A typical cut starts at $55, but with the referral I paid a very reasonable $34. The discount gave me incentive to try out the salon, and after such a pleasant and positive experience, I would be happy to pay the full price for future visits. read more

I got my hair cut today at Salon Massimo. It was my first time there, and I couldn't have been happier! Massimo gave me a great cut with pretty layers, he got rid of my dead ends without taking off too much length. Jasmine styled my hair afterwards, she showed me different techniques to blow dry my hair or curl it, walking me through each step. I've been to at LEAST 4 different salons in the past two years searching for someone that knows how to highlight/lowlight my hair properly! I've paid top dollar each time ($250 - $300) only to walk out of each salon disappointed! That all changed yesterday when I visited Salon Massimo and had Massimo himself color my hair! Not only did he take the time to LISTEN to what I wanted, he also managed to give me the exact color highlights/lowlights I've been trying to achieve for almost 2 years now! Not only that but I also got an awesome cut! The salon itself is clean and beautifully decorated and his staff is friendly and welcoming! I felt right at home on my very first visit! I've finally found the stylist and salon I will continue to go back to over and over! My teenage daughter was quoted $140 for her foil, then proceeded to burn her hair so badly that the employee screamed for her to get to the sink NOW ! She tried to correct the mistake, then charged her an extra $160! Her hair fell out by the fistful! I went to Debbie at Salon Massimo on the recommendation of a friend. My friend is a very tough customer and I figured if she spoke so highly of Debbie she must be good. My friend was right. Debbie is amazing. I've never been one to experiment with color, only some highlights, but Debbie and I have had some fun over the past few years with color! No matter what she does it always looks good. Her highlights are always straight and even and her cuts make my flat, straight hair actually bounce. Ever since I started going to Debbie I get TONS of compliments on my hair. The only downside is that it's expensive. Massimo has been cutting my hair since I moved to the area from CA about a year ago. In this period of time he has returned it to health (it was shot from overprocessing) and it has never looked better.
