We have driven by many times and wasn't sure about trying it. After getting up the courage we walked in and it was very clean, a little warm and surprisingly humid. But staff working was super friendly and very attentive. Since we were here for lunch we opted for the calzone. My first request for spring rolls as an appetizer was unavailable (apparently not arriving on the truck) but the second option of pot stickers was made well, crispy and the breading wasn't too thick. We also tried a cup of cowboy chili which was very taste but too much like soup. But the calzone was amazing. I've had better sauce but that's not to say this sauce wasn't good because it was. But the calzone hand made here, the breading perfectly seasoned and cooked perfect, buttery garlic top! We will definitely come back for the calzones read more

Wheatland may be a small town but you'll be surprised by the quality of food at this place. They have authentic Italian pizzas, Calzones to die for, they have 21 day aged ribeye steak, Kobe steak and money more. Our kids loved everything that we tried from Vimbo's. Burger and fries! I was looking for something good while passing through Wheatland. This place is not nice by any means, but I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. We were traveling from Mount Rushmore to Denver. We are seniors traveling in a small motor home and planned this stop to break up the trip. The Best Western suggested we eat here and said the hamburgers were good. This little place was nothing fancy, but the food and prices made up for that. Be prepared to wait because they seemed to be very short staffed. The young man who waited on us seemed to be waiting on the entire dining room. I had the cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. My husband had the belly up burger (hamburger with a fried egg on it). These were the best hamburgers that we have had in a long, long time. The beef was perfectly cooked. It had pickles, onions, and tomatoes that were very tasty. We also had the salted caramel cheesecake. Everything was great. We saw the pizza some of the other patrons had ordered. It looked scrumptious. We contemplated getting one to go, but it was just too much food. The case at the front of the store had cannolis and cupcakes that made my mouth water. We stopped for a late lunch and we're very pleasantly surprised. The front and exterior might look scarce but we did go way after lunch so maybe we missed the rush. The staff was very nice and everything was clean inside. The cheeseburgers are so big and tasted fantastic. I ordered a large pepperoni pizza for my kids to share and it was so big we had enough left over for dinner. They also had some really tasty cupcakes for dessert. Started off going to the place across the street. It was packed and no one is wearing a mask. So we decided to come to Vimbo's. We're hesitant because there were not a lot of cars in the parking lot. I had the 5 topping calzone while my wife and her sister had the crab legs(blackboard special). All three plus 2 sodas came out to $74.00. Overall, the food was tasty and all enjoyed. The service was not the best as both servers looked to be 18 years old. They didn't know what utensils to bring for the crab legs. Otherwise, things went well. I like the food. That's why I gave Vimbos two stars. However, unless they give the place a thorough cleaning - scrub the floors, wash the tables, switch out the condiments for fresher ones, I can't go back. The comments about the original Vimbos included how dirty the place was and that no one cared. When this 'new' Vimbos opened under new ownership, we had high hopes. At first, the restaurant was clean and showed promise. This last visit we needed two tables to be pulled apart. The grime between the two tables was nasty. The floor hadn't been cleaned in months. The employee's attempt at sweeping has obviously been to push the crumbs, ect under the foot of the table. The mustard was aged and not in a good way. Wheatland is a small town with a limited amount of sit-down restaurants. There is no reason Vimbos can't succeed - if they can clean up their act. read more

I'm sure in Wheatland this may be considered fine dining (asindicated by the crazy 4.5 star rating), but you'd be better off at Arby's or Taco John's. The ketchup was fermented, the silverware dirty, fried items hard with no flavor, and terrible service. Do yourself a favor, save yourself the overpriced ($67 for 3 adults/2 kids at lunch) terrible food and just fill the family up at Arby's....at least you're less likely to walk away with a bacterial infection there! read more

If you are in the area (we were staying in Guernsey), this place is worth a try. Hubby and I shared a Wagyu beef sandwich that was huge and delicious! French fries were fantastic as well. The kids' meals left something to be desired, however. Chicken strips were generous and looked good, but the mac & cheese was just boxed (and not recently made) and kiddo refused to eat it (I didn't blame her!). My boyfriend and I ate here 8/30/19. First Visit. The service was superb. The food was spectacular! I had the salmon and he had a HUDGE hamburger. Every day is a slightly different menu.
