(They also have an 8-hour cold drip should you so desire.) The shop is tiny, but if you're lucky enough to snag a stump you'll be privy to some of the most amusing customer conversations. Hungry? They were whipping up waffles last time I was there. But don't get your tastebuds in too much of a tizzy, it's just waffles, so if that's what you want, consider yourself a winner. If not, well, tough luck. But let's be honest, you're heading here for the coffee because it's undoubtably Manly's best, whether hot or cold. And hey, I'm sure they'll even put the ice cream in there if you ask nicely. Just don't ask for decaf. Or larges.

Waffles with optional chocolate. Because they do it simple, they do it well. The waffles are freshly made as you order. The chocolate is freshly melted Belgian chocolate. The coffee is either their standard blend, or a single origin that rotates every few days - and they are fastidious about how they make it. The actual café is just a hole in the wall with a few boxes & logs that serve as stools. The popularity of this spot ensures an intimate buzz and more often than not, a friendly conversation with the locals. Well worth a visit.

Great place all round…read more Smooth tasty coffee with a few different bean choices for those who want to splurge. I got a cappuccino and it was awesome. Extra points for having powdered coco on top instead of chocolate. Ordered the poached eggs with bacon and spinach which ticked every box a bacon and eggs should. My mates got other things on the menu which looked just as good. There is also a sweets cabinet for those coming here in the afternoon or who can justify eating a Cronut at 9am. Sadly I am not one of those people and so could only look longingly at the cupcakes, brownies and Cronuts- but I am determined to be back to get one! The atmosphere is really relaxed and welcoming. All the tables are recycled spools (I think that is what they are called??) and the chairs have padding made of coffee bean sacks. It's well put together and works for this industrial, beaches location. All the staff are heaps chilled and friendly which only adds to everything. If you are after a be good cafe in Mona- this is the place!

Constructed on the far left hand corner at the bottom of the escalators at Chatswood Interchange, it's difficult to miss as you can see the steam rising from Barista magic at work. It's busy, in a worker bee sense. People come and go clutching coffee, whilst 3 artisans work their craft. I rolled in here with my two elderly companions on Wednesday post lunch, and we were drawn to the little padded seats at the back, which also opens through to the other side. Ordering, then taking a seat, our talking point became the shelves in front of us with coffee and train paraphernalia. I grabbed the HONY book on display and attempted to explain the concept to the ex-journalist at my right. The book (from 2010) unfortunately contains only the images and captions, not the stories that we have all seen on Facebook, but I think she got what I meant. Soon after, the coffees arrived. Soy Latte. Flat White. Cappuccino. Our cappuccino drinker said the flavour was lovely but she wanted it "hotter". The flat white drinker remarked in earnest tones that it was wonderful. I just drank mine and smiled. Yes it was damn good. One of the best Soy Latte's I've had. No bitterness. A smooth, flavourful brew with some complexity to delight my tastebuds. Isn't "winning your loyalty" an interesting concept. When I stroll through Chatswood next I would find myself hard pressed to try another coffee place, and there are many... If I did try another coffee place, I'd feel like I was cheating on TSE. That's what winning your loyalty is all about.

I also get stuck making it for the rest of the family (especially D2) because they claim they cant make it like I do. Yeah right. Every weekend or so I head over to Siboni's to get a bag of their "Cordon Bleu" blend. I say "their" because the first thing you see when you walk in is a whopping great roaster with pipes going everywhere and a tray full of the most amazingly aromatic beans being spun round and cooled by a contraption that looks like it could make bodies disappear. Its now on its second owner but the Cordon Bleu is always the same and always great. I've tried beans from Joe Black (5 Senses) Corduroy (Little Marionette) Toby's, peaberrys, Jamaican Blue, Sumatran, Ethiopian, Indian Monsoon, single origin, beans that have been through an Indonesian cat and they are all really great. Its just that I think I've grown accustomed to Siboni's - "Sibs" as its known round these parts, and we have a history. The hours are from the 60's - closed on Sundays and at other odd times. The bloke can be a bit taciturn but the lady is so friendly and helpful. Many a time they've stayed open for 5 extra minutes for me when I forget to grab a bag and only remember just as they are about to shut up. They also have a great range of coffee machines and they make a brilliant coffee if you're up that way. They even have my little Saeco - tucked up the back behind all the glamorous show ponies, bet they won't still be going strong having made a cup of coffee every day for 17 years. ...alright... I haven't had beans that have popped out the ding of an Indonesian cat, but only because I haven't found the shop yet.

Literally all of them, like some giant baby has been using them as toys and is jamming them all into one room of a huge Barbie play house for it's own infantile amusement. It doesn't make any sense, only, it totally does. The cafe is Seachange. and the reason it's so beloved by locals is three-fold: the servings are huge (no fleck of steak on a giant white plate here), they're happy to change absolutely anything on your order without any pissy whining or "No, the chef would kill me" type excuses, and the staff and management are unbelievably friendly. Wulf (sp?) made sure our group got a table inside to protect the little baby we had with us from the sun, and even though he was run off his feet stopped by the table a few times to drop jokes. I had the acai brekky bowl with banana and strawberry and bircher, at $15.90 it's the healthiest way to start the day while still feeling like you're eating ice cream. The Local with tons of bacon, eggs, and a potato rosti is also a winner, as is, oh, pretty much anything on the menu. When you're done, slop across the road and roll about on the beach like a walrus. Trust me, it's great.
