So too was the cucumber salad with sweet and sour brine I loved the vibe and everything this place had to offer including the exceptional service

The place was packed upon entrance so it may benefit to schedule a reservation for a larger party. As I was by my lonesome, I sat down at a table and began to take in the atmosphere. The hall was breathing with life of people enjoying drinks and chatting, so don't expect a quiet dining experience. My waitress recommended I try the sausage variety as an appetizer so I gave it a go. The food came out after about five minutes. I could be intoxicated by the delight of visiting Europe but the sausages were so delicious and fresh. The mustard and horseradish which accompanied the dish were delicious and complimented the protein so well. For the main dish, my waitress also recommended the Chicken and Rice. The food followed my appetizer about five minutes after. Upon first sight, the portions and composition of the plate spoke to me in a commanding yet soft whisper. The chicken was so tender that it melted off the bone. The rice was so dense yet fluffy. Each bite combination sprinkled with the gravy made for a euphoric taste in each chew. In other words, the food was incredible. This restaurant provided to perfect opportunity to try out traditional Czech food without leaving a hole in you wallet. The pricing, the vibes, and the seemingly unlimited beer made for an authentic experience. It is definitely worth a visit here, or at any of the Lokál chains if you find yourself in Prague.

Warning : this is the definition of the idiom 'tourist trap.'…read more It's expensive. They don't give you a whole lot of meat, and the meal was not to my liking. I ordered -/ for the first time -- beef borsch . Borsch is considered a culinary staple to the believed Czech people. And I love them, but dom of their eatings are questionable ... First , Czechians use a very liberal definition of a dumpling .... A dumpling to me, is noodle or dough that often has a savory of sweet filling like pork, jelly. Heck even a pierogi is a type of dumpling with variations across European countries like Poland. Here, the 'dumpling' is nothing but a spongy doughy piece of bread . How is that a dumpling is a mystery to me. The borsch had some spice, but the blast radius of the aftermath made me rethink the quality of the meat, which was scant in the stew-bowl. With Pilsner and their complimentary sfter meal house-shot, I got to say this was too much money for Czech standard of living and comparable to the prices you'd be accustomed to paying in the USA or London. Not a good deal at all. Still, not the worst stew dish I've tasted and the customer service was pretty good.

POTATO DUMPLINGS *modified menu item* 5/5 The modification was to not add bacon. I thought these were delicious! Perhaps they can provide an option with a sauce (maybe mushroom) to have a more flavorful vegetarian option. But in general, very tasty. HOMEMADE LEMONADE RASPBERRY 2/5 There are no lemons in this beverage. Though I was informed by my family that lemonade in Czech is interchangeable with juice, so having raspberry juice should have been the expectation. That being said, even as a raspberry juice it was mid. It tasted like raspberry flavored water. Though the hole raspberries that were added were so yummy Overall, it was a nice place to have dinner. I'm not sure if I'd go out of my way to recommend them to friends, as I am vegetarian so I couldn't try many of the meals. My family did like their meat dishes though, if that helps.

We ordered the beef cheeks, which were served cold (likely as intended but not what I was expecting). Flavor was fine but not great. The burger was also just okay. For something so standard, it was passable but not likely to order again. Our favorite dishes were 1) the duck and 2) potato and vegetable patties. Duck was crispy, hot, and had pretty good flavor! The vegetable patties were also crispy and balanced, slightly sweet. The beer list was limited but we liked what we ordered. Hate to be a broken record but we've had better while in the city. Wouldn't recommend this place to a friend since it was just average.

Rather than look at the menu, I made my decision by viewing the desserts. For an unknown reason, rather than being placed upfront, the tiramisu was placed behind a box of pralines. I do not recall the last time I was served tiramisu in a dish. In between two layers of the mascarpone were the ladyfingers. The bitter cocoa complemented the overall sweetness. I was amused, and slightly caught off guard, with the vending machine in the men's restroom dispensing cologne. None of the other restaurants I visited in the city had one.
