HOMEMADE LEMONADE RASPBERRY 2/5 There are no lemons in this beverage. Though I was informed by my family that lemonade in Czech is interchangeable with juice, so having raspberry juice should have been the expectation. That being said, even as a raspberry juice it was mid. It tasted like raspberry flavored water. Though the hole raspberries that were added were so yummy Overall, it was a nice place to have dinner. I'm not sure if I'd go out of my way to recommend them to friends, as I am vegetarian so I couldn't try many of the meals. My family did like their meat dishes though, if that helps. read more

Warning : this is the definition of the idiom 'tourist trap.' It's expensive. They don't give you a whole lot of meat, and the meal was not to my liking. I ordered -/ for the first time -- beef borsch . Borsch is considered a culinary staple to the believed Czech people. And I love them, but dom of their eatings are questionable ... First , Czechians use a very liberal definition of a dumpling .... A dumpling to me, is noodle or dough that often has a savory of sweet filling like pork, jelly. Heck even a pierogi is a type of dumpling with variations across European countries like Poland. Here, the 'dumpling' is nothing but a spongy doughy piece of bread . How is that a dumpling is a mystery to me. The borsch had some spice, but the blast radius of the aftermath made me rethink the quality of the meat, which was scant in the stew-bowl. With Pilsner and their complimentary sfter meal house-shot, I got to say this was too much money for Czech standard of living and comparable to the prices you'd be accustomed to paying in the USA or London. Not a good deal at all. Still, not the worst stew dish I've tasted and the customer service was pretty good. read more

This place will be one of the ones I'll stay in your mind for a very long time, the location is premium and the food, service and ambiance was outstanding. The drinks came out right away, and the food quality, portions, and flavor were on point. The waiter was super helpful and friendly and ensured we enjoyed each dish. After lunch, he brought all of us a shot of some house liqueur on the house as a thank you for coming in. Terrible dining experience! The male waiter's attitude was absolutely unacceptable. I didn't have any change for a tip, so I went across the street to buy a milk tea to get some change. When I returned with the change and my milk tea, the waiter used a threatening tone and expression to reprimand me. I want to clarify that my meal already included a drink, and there were no signs indicating that outside drinks were not allowed. Perhaps this restaurant doesn't have a tipping culture, which made the waiter feel entitled to rudely scold customers, completely ignoring our goodwill of trying to give him a tip. On a weekday evening at 8pm, the quoted wait time for a party of 3 was 45 minutes. Luckily a large table that sat 10 opened up in the back of the restaurant and we were able to share this with another couple. 45 minutes turned into a 10 minute wait...score! After being seated, our waitress immediately came to the table with menus and a basket of complimentary bread, and also took our drink orders. She continued to be pleasant and attentive throughout the meal, which was great. Decided on the Kingswood hard apple cider to drink, which was okay. It was cold and refreshing, but was kind of flat and more on the dry than sweet side. For our meal we started with the steak tartare (made from veal) and share the smoked pork knee. The tartare was very good and went well with the toasted homemade bread that accompanied it. The veal was of good quality and minced nicely. Mixed with anchovies and shallots, the tartare had great flavor. The smoked pork knee was huge and could be easily shared between two people as a meal. It was roasted in dark beer and spices, so it had tons of flavor. I wished the pork skin was crispier, but enjoyed the very tender meat. The dish didn't come with sides, so don't forget to order some carbs/veggies to go along with it. This traditional Czech meal seemed to be the thing to order here as all the tables in the back of the restaurant were devouring it. After we finished our meal, we were given a complimentary Czech alcoholic beverage (and C a lollipop) along with our check. We weren't sure if we were supposed to sip it or take it as a shot, but it went down smoothly. Definitely recommend Restaaurant Mustek if you are in the area. I ordered their roasted pork knee but disappointed because it was over cooked in other words, well done. The pig skin should be reddish and easy on the eye and it turned out not so good at the picture. But it is delicious and so good except for the over cooked skin. This is a great affordable eats for a place on the main strip from Wencesclas Square into historic Old Town Prague. I've been here twice on two different occasions and enjoyed it both times I've been here. Some tips: 1. How to find it? It usually has a roasting pig wrapped in foil sitting out from. That's the indicator that you've found the restaurant (being how restaurant names in CZ all seem to look alike) 2. The wait. It seems like its peak hours throughout the day even if you're looking for a table of two - its always packed. They usually makes guests wait outside being that the entrance is a bit tight and they like to keep a clear walkway. Don't worry. The tables clear out pretty quick. 3. Go for their pork roast special. Probably one of the most tender and succulent meat dish for an amazing price. It comes with pickles, a mustard-like sauce, fresh chopped horseraddish, coleslaw, and some salad greens. read more

I've always avoided the 'toursity' parts of town, but just came to this restaurant for the first time - I feel foolish for having not been there before. It was great and I highly recommend it. 1. MENUS. The menus had pictures and were in four languages. They were easy to understand! I'm all for being local and it felt like a cop out, but it sure was easy to order. 2. APPETIZERS. The appetizer list was long, looked tasty and had most of the traditional Czech starters (except for garlic soup). We split a ham appetizer that was tasty. 3. DRINKS. My colleague ordered a beer and I had a glass of wine (which came in an airline bottle). Expectations were met, not exceeded. 4. SERVICE. The service was quick, there was a TV showing the chef preparing meals. The server wasn't particularly friendly, but was knowledgeable and fast. 5. NOVELTY. My colleague had a pig knuckle on a spit. Busy with slightly slow service (although they were great about checking in, bringing bread and drinks). The food is excellent and the service is too. We have come here twice so far while visiting Prague. 1st night they had a jazz band playing which was nice. Great host at the front door made us feel welcomed right away. Had the potato & mushroom soup as it was a cold night and it was just what was needed.Second day came here again after being totally ignored at another restaurant and after asking twice for menus we left and came here. This is my first time in Prague, and per friends and guidebooks I did not have high expectations on food or service. That being said, I loved this place! Right between old town and lesser town, restaurant mustek is perfectly positioned to snatch tourists looking to try the local fare. I ordered the standard sized Pilsner Urquell, while my companion ordered the "kid's size". I highly recommend the beef goulash, it's delicious and the presentation is remarkable. Yes, this restaurant is located on one of the busiest streets in Prague. And sure, there is a hooded squire out front tempting passers by on the street to enter. But it is worth it. The restaurant's comforting aroma and warm interior are so welcoming and homey. The garlicky potato soup belly-warming but not too heavy. The goulash is really full of flavor, with tender bites of beef. Bread, served with the meal, comes out warm and fresh and perfect for sopping up the juices and sauces of these heavy Germanic dishes. I would highly recommend this place. It's accessible, delicious and pretty much perfect for any navigationally-challenged visitors and meanderers. read more

This is our first time in this amazing city of Prague. We sat for dinner on one of the swing sets outside the restaurant. It's a set that seats four people with a table. This restaurant gets 5 stars for being a great tourist restaurant without being "too touristy". It is conveniently located between Old Town and Wenceslas Square in the prime tourist location but has reasonable rates and great food. The staff were friendly and courteous. They had a pretty extensive menu with both pictures and English translations which made ordering easy. There were three of us and we all tried something different and all of us enjoyed our meals, again at a very reasonable price for the location. We sat outside on the swinging seats which only added to the atmosphere and allowed us to enjoy the sites and sounds while we ate. We would definitely go back. read more
