Stay far away. I still have nightmares from what went on. You cannot be present for the sale, all cameras have to be off, and the wifi has to be disconnected. All part of the con. They load up their big van with all the valuables on tables up front. Or they give their friend Marsha free stuff so she can continue to refer them. You cannot return until the sale is over (I returned before the end). The money is all neatly counted out already (predone for sure). Vinny's line is "we had a bad day, and all the crazies were out". As the pair go through items, they are careful to go on an adventure in knowing their client, especially during often sensitive times of loss, closing a family home, etc. Their genius is never judging the potential shoppers; everyone has unique interests. Therefore, they don't overly stage items such as jewelry, artwork, clothing, collectibles and curios, they allow shoppers to enjoy the adventure, too. Yet, Vinny and Anna are meticulous in security efforts, making sure the client receives the best value for items, and their clean-up is conscientious. I will never forget my transformational experience with Vinny and Anna, individually and collectively. We met with Jim when we went to visit the house and get some of the few items we wanted to keep. We liked and trusted him immediately and knew we would use him for the sale. However, we didn't sell for another 8 months. Once the house was in contract for sale, Jim worked with us remotely. He went to the house and coordinated with our real estate agent to get in. He took inventory, sent us his thoughts on value and strategy, took photos and handled all logistics. We flew in Friday, Sale was Saturday, and house was empty on Sunday. Done. Jim is a pleasure to work with and does everything, turn-key operation. The expertise of A Better Choice was unmatched by any other firm that viewed my mother's antiques. One of the owners, Frank Christopher, identified a famous but unsigned 19th century portraitist; identified unsigned Roseville pottery; and spotted the signature on a Mon Levinson piece. Their purchase offer to us almost tripled the next-lowest offer. Their competitor then offered to match this price, but we stayed with A Better Choice. I reached out to 21 estate liquidators, auction houses, and antique dealers, in dealing with my deceased mother's over-stuffed apartment. Seven came to view the contents, and only three offered a guaranteed price to clear out everything. Genevieve Celentano, the second partner, oversaw the actual move-out. She was pure kindness and order, in an emotionally difficult situation for me. And A Better Choice cleared out everything, including the under-sink cabinets. And cleaned up after themselves.
