I don't normally write negative reviews, but this business definitely needs one, and people need to be aware. I am a native New Yorker and can spot a PROFESSIONAL CON ARTIST when I see one. SASH is one of them. He's nice on the outside, but he's good at fooling new customers. I gave him the benefit of the doubt based on his reviews and trusted him. NEVER ignore your gut. He is indeed a SCAMMER that has been fooling people for decades. You'll realize that after the great conversation he has with you. They will try to remove this review but I was a real customer. Believe the other reviewers telling you the same. I brought in several pieces of jewelry for repair along with tipping Sash, expecting professional, long-lasting work based on the reviews. Unfortunately, within approximately two months, ALL OF MY JEWLERY BROKE/FELL APART. I was SO disappointed because the purpose of having jewelry repaired is to ensure that it is fixed properly and lasts. The quality of the workmanship is EXTREMELY POOR. He then proceeds to blame his poor workmanship on your jewlery (similar to what others said here). That was NOT the case. My pieces are all genuine and well-made. I've had pieces repaired decades ago that have never split open like this. In my opinion, Sash came across as VERY misleading. He talks and distracts you with conversation. He spoke about family and friends, who seem to be the ones receiving the highest level of care (and the ones writing the good reviews), while new customers receive poor service. He also intentionally adds on additional charges without confirming with the customer, that was fine with me, but at least provide the service you charged for. I am posting this review so that other customers can make an informed decision before spending their money here. If you are looking for reliable jewelry repairs, I would recommend considering the other jewelry repair businesses on the same floor. I went to another guy and he did a fantastic job. Sash is a hidden (literally) gem, in a quaint workspace on the mezzanine level of a Diamond District building. I brought him a challenging project: the resizing of a Hopi silver overlay ring. He was very transparent about the process and the risks, and the final result is fantastic. See before and after photos. Sash is great! My white gold wedding band needed to be resized i.e. made larger. It had a design on it that we wanted to preserve, so cutting it and adding new gold to it was to be avoided, if possible. Well, Sash did it! He "stretched" it out and preserved it's appearance. It fit perfectly. He then cleaned and polished it, so it looked better than when I brought it in. The price was a very reasonable $50, and I was able to stay for the 30 minutes that it took to complete. I might also add that Sash is pleasant and friendly. I wrote a pretty comprehensive 5 star review of Sash in the past that was one of his first on YELP, that many people have read and found helpful. But I would have to say my most recent visit had me docking a few stars. My earlier dealings with Sash had always been great. He gave quality work with a good attention to detail. My most recent visit however had been a bit lackluster. I had Sash set another platinum diamond ring for me. This one had been bought from a sample sale in the city. The platinum ring was preset with a CZ as it had been a store sample. I wanted to do an easy (or so I thought) 1 to 1 swap of the CZ for the diamond. And downsize the ring by 1.5 sizes. The diamond had an almost identical diameter so this would not be a problem, I had been advised by multiple jewelers. So I went to Sash, a guy who had done good work for me in the past. I am a bit meticulous to small details but I am willing to pay extra to have the job done right the first time. I came to Sash in the afternoon. I don't know if I came at a bad time but he seemed a bit agitated. Okay I understand, you are allowed to have a bad day. I've been to Sash's shop so I know that he makes money by getting work done quickly with his laser welder, which allows him to get people in and out of the shop. I immediately showed him the ring and the setting and he got straight to work. He clamps the ring into his vice and begins to remove the diamond. He replaces the diamond after clamping it down with his tools, haphazardly returning it to me. And I take a look at the ring, all 4 prongs were misaligned, the diamond was crooked, and they were not light, but heavy tool marks on the ring from the pliers that looked like a middle schooler went at it in his metal shop class. After which he gave it a quick polish and handed it back to me. It came back shiny but with tool marks (deep gouges) and scratches all over it, and inside the ring where the sizing was done. The ring was also not squarely set. A common practice in diamond setting. https://www.ganoksin.com/article/squaring-the-diamond/ But he acted like I was being OCD because always insist on this. (As should you.) When I got the ring back. The ring was completely unacceptable. I wish I had taken a picture of it. Then he began to tell me that because the ring was "old" it was brittle, and it would be "risky" to reset it. I am not a metallurgist, but I do know that one of platinum's properties is it durable, much more durable that gold. Even though the ring was a platinum iridium 95% the ring should have easily been able to have been reset. I am also not a jeweler, but I know enough about jewelry to know swapping a CZ is a fairly common thing to do. Based on Sash's work before, (which was good) This was completely unacceptable and amateurish. I pointed out to Sash that the table of the diamond was not squarely set. He hesitated but frustrated he reset the diamond back and forth, till I had it done right. (The way it should have been the first time.) I had to point out all the tool marks and it he took it twice and with the laser welder he was able to push the metal back into place to make it look good, then my ring was quickly polished out, as if to get me out of his shop. Only after this "micromanaging" did the job get done right, but it wasn't his best work. There was still some light scratch marks that I will have to come back for, or go to another jeweler. All in all a 3/5 experience. I am a big fan of Sash I really am. He is capable of some excellent work, and for some very good prices, I know, I have come back for repeat business. But I also like to do good honest reviews for people like you coming off the street to him for the first time. And if this is the way he works now, you have to pay attention to your finished product. read more

I have a tennis bracelet that needed to be resized. I was full of trepidation when part of my engagement band broke off, because it was a family heirloom with intricate hand-made pattern on the exterior portion of the band.
