I thought I'd be charged a range of $25-$35 plus tip. ( You have to remember, it was barely a touch up ). When I went to the end to pay, I was told $62. In my head, my jaw almost hit the floor. I couldn't believe that it was so expensive. The staff was very friendly, but those prices are far too high. A few years ago I got a haircut in Europe and they offered me wine as I was waiting and the maximum price that came to was $40. So a haircut and wine, $40 bucks. So hearing a $62 charge + $8 tip. Total was $70. Was the haircut good, yes it was ok, but definitely not worth that price tag. I hate to say it, but I'll definitely not be returning. Toooo expensive. I didn't get any product for my beard or hair either. So it's just too expensive.

I've been getting the same haircut for maybe 10 years now (I find haircuts to be a tedious and usually uncomfortable ritual). My biggest complaint is usually how far off the mark my given barber is from what I wanted, but there are lots of other factors to evaluate. Sometimes the barber might take twice the time of another, and yet I walk out with half the haircut because I'm tired of squirming and smirking in my seat, or maybe my wallet is starting to feel a little exploited, or the barber is just a little rough with his tools. Well, at Ernie's, I had no complaints. For an oldster, my barber was a very light touch with his instruments - no hair pulling, or fingers fumbling at my scalp and he was done before I knew it. In fact, I was already quite happy with his interpretation of my never-changing hair, but he was more than happy (almost insistent) to tweak it further. And when it came time to pay, $17 seemed more than fair for his time. Maybe I caught my barber on a good day - an early Tuesday morning at the beginning of his work week, before a day's or week's worth of standing on his feet might reduce his limbs to a leaden drag - but I know I'm going to pay him a second visit.

He did an excellent job, made pleasant conversation, and you could tell he had a lot of experience cutting hair. He even used a straight edge razor to get a close shave around the neck and ears. The cut was around $20 overall and I'm really happy with it! You may have to wait a bit normally, but if you want to get more than your money's worth I recommend the wait. Another thing to note is that it is a unisex haircutters, not just for men. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a new barber.
