This is my first time here since this placed open over one month ago. I was very impressed with how clean this place is, the space is bright, spacious, and they offer a variety of services. They are centrally located right on a main street, with plenty of pay-and-display parking in the back. The main entrance is all glass which allows for lots of natural sun light to shine in. A private entrance at the back is available for easy access to the parking lot, and to add just a touch of extra value and service. The Staff is supper friendly, well knowledgeable, highly trained, and offer you a nice selection of natural and organic products for treating your scalp and hair, to shaving soaps, to great brushes for shaving and for your hair. A nice selection of classic products is also available. This place is a really great place to come to relax and get pampered in a very manly and male oriented atmosphere. The services offered will take care of you from head to toe, with a focus on natural products and treatments to keep you looking your best while staying healthy. I highly recommend this place guys! Haven't even made it there.. talked to the owner requesting hair cut, shave and nails service.. she was absolutely rude when I asked her if I can get nails services in less than 1.5 ! Coz that's too long! She started lecturing me about hepatitis A and C and hot it takes time to clean and she added : this is not a service for u! A totally rude stuck capital B on the phone! What she didn't know is we were 9 men looking for a place to get hot towel shave and hair cut regularly, and we totally passed on her By the way, Kathy, who answered the phone at the beginning, was a very polite and helpful lady.. probably if we didn't talk to the owner we would have been already in heir Spa by now read more

Saw the reviews for this place on Yelp as I was nearby waiting for a massage. I had a date with my lady Saturday night and wanted to look my best so I tried to squeeze in a haircut in 25 minutes. I felt bad walking in and saying, "You have 25 minutes to cut my hair, please do a good job", and if they would have said, not possible, come back in a bit, I would have understood. Not my man Al, that guy was totally up to the challenge and cut my hair with precision and most importantly speed - and got me pretty much the hair cut I was looking for, and at the very least made me look less like a slack-jawed yokel and more like a well put together gent. They might have been a little too ambitious as the cut ended up taking about 40 minutes after washing, but that's not their fault for being professional and thorough, that's my fault for giving them an unrealistic time frame. The Business offers all sorts of services just for men, including straight razor shaves, massage (both RMT and none) as well as an assortment of aesthetician services like nails and waxing. For the well polished man, I believe this is your spot on the Kingsway. The place is only a year old and has a great location near Royal York and Bloor, easily accessible on the TTC (bus and train) and has ample paid parking on both the street and surrounding Green P lots (plus there is a cigar shop around the corner). The price of the cut came to around $40 which is about what I pay at my regular spot. So will I change based on price and service, maybe, maybe not. Presently, I'm undecided BUT I will be back for sure to try some of their man-specific services in the not too distant future. read more

Worst hair cut I've ever received. Hands down. But everyone has off days, I can accept that. What I cannot accept is the owner of the shop failing to call me back to schedule another appointment to fix it. 3 times she told me she would call back. After the second I asked if I should call her back (apparently it's difficult to read her appointment book) and she rudely responds "no, I'll call you back"... she never did. I show up to the salon to show her in person the gong show that I'm wearing on my head (Co workers and friends asked if my girlfriend cut my hair) she says again she will have to get back to me with a time slot. I asked for a refund because I will need a new hair cut ASAP. She says they don't do refunds because "it is still a hair cut" I paid $45 for a garbage haircut then had to pay another barber $30 to fix it. I guess that's what happens when the owner needs to pay herself for sitting in a chair all day not returning phone calls. Absolutely terrible customer service. Avoid this place. Oh yea, any guys out there ever had someone use thinning sheers on their side burns? It's painful read more

I called to make an appointment for a few hours in advance and was happily accommodated. The owner, Kim, is very sweet and great to talk to! Absolute sweetheart if I'm honest. The woman who cut my hair listened to what I wanted and asked my opinion on anything she wanted to add, which turned out great! I was very happy with the cut! On my way out I had another great chat with Kim! I was delighted with the service! I've unfortunately only been able to go once as I've needed to leave Toronto for a few months but when I get back I will be returning to The Business for more quality service :) read more

I had THE WORSE haircut in my entire life and not only can't compare to my 20 years of Vidal Sassoon experience. When I let the owner know my experience, I got a long but empty texting match instead of the requested refund. Don't attempt to try them, if you have any better than basic haircut in the past!!!!!!! Went in for a simple cut, trim the sides a bit off the top, a pretty "typical" mens haircut. The barber Csada, was very nice but did not seem to listen very well to what i had asked for. I asked for a fade and he cut the entire sides of my head all to a 1, too high to fade. I asked for the top to be all even, this was NOT the case. the outlines of the back were done poorly. Of course as many men know, at the shop they style your hair, so when my hair was styled the mistakes were not noticeable, they were covered by layers of uneven hair. The barber didnt show me the back of my head as they usually do, and at the time i hadnt noticed but when i got home my family told me it was poorly done; not clean at all. It was not until i arrived back home and my family members pointed out all the very noticeable mistakes on my head (uneven hair, trimming not clean, styled to cover the mistakes). I decided to call the shop back and this is when the situation took a turn for the worst. NEVER had i ever dealt with such an UNREASONABLE person like Kim when i expressed my dissatisfaction. Because the shop is so well reviewed i was under the impression they were over a higher standard, surely $54 for a simple mens haircut would be done to satisfaction and decency but i truly felt the cut was not honest for this price point. After explaining this to Kim on the phone she tried to twist the narrative, saying all i cared about was the money. THIS IS COMPLETELY FALSE. I paid the money willingly at the shop when the cut was done, but like i mentioned the styling of the hair covered up how uneven it was, to the point at home i contemplated just shaving it all off. Kim on the phone would not listen at all. She would interrupt every other word. She would not acknowledge my issues. She would speak over me. She kept trying to say that i was mad about paying so much, when i explained that i was okay paying what i did for a good cut, but that is not what i received. Nevertheless Kim insisted i come in for them to fix it, but i wanted her to reimburse me a percentage of the cost, for having to travel twice (gas) and because the cut was not to the standard of their shop. This to me is fair because now i would have to cut my hair shorter than i originally wanted because it was done poorly in the first place. I told Kim i was hesitant to let the same person who ruined my hair to cut it again, she did not care. No sympathy, no understanding, nothing. Finally i went back in. I tried to explain all the things that were wrong, some things the barber acknowledged (proving my point this cut was not to standard). But Kim would not acknowledge anything. Even when her employees (the actual barber) would. In the end she resorted to trying to kick me out of the shop. She would not respond to my concerns but once she grew tired of listening she tried to kick me out. I was not being belligerent, i did not insult her or say anything rude in the slightest. i simply brought up my issues, showed the proof on my head, had acknowledgment by her own staff, the same person who cut my hair. But because she wouldnt respond to my claims she grew tired of hearing my plea, so she resorted to trying to kick me out because she could not justify not refunding me in part for the situation. This is the lowest thing an owner can do. Not own up to mistakes and kick someone out to save a percentage of the cost... disgraceful, disgusting, unprofessional. You can tell that she rarely has people tell her no, she cannot deal with confrontation in any logical form. she results in a childish "my way or get out" attitude. At the end of the day, i leave more disappointment with Kim than anything. She is the textbook definition of UNREASONABLE. She will dismiss what you say, she wont acknowledge concerns or issues.If her opinion differs from yours, she will try anything and everything to change the narrative to something that it is not. she will make implications. Kim will ask loaded questions. She will not help you if you have any concerns with the service, standard, or guest satisfaction. IF YOU ARE A NEW CUSTOMER, KNOW IF YOU ARE DISSATISFIED YOU WILL NOT BE HELPED, COMPENSATED, REIMBURSED A SINGLE DOLLAR AND BE TREATED LIKE CRAP FOR AN OWNER WHO DOES NOT CARE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY. read more

Just wanted to say what a great experience I had at "The Business". First the decor is stunning clean and modern. My barber Chris was amazing. Followed instructions and was a master with the straight blade doing all the details old school!! The hot towel and the scalp massage were just the icing on the cake! This is a place for guys to get most, if not, all of their grooming needs met from Facials, Pedicures, Massage, Straight Razor Shaves and many more! The staff is friendly and professional and Kim has taken great care in selecting just the right expertise in her employees but also their personalities! This place came highly recommended by a friend and I moved into the neighbourhood recently so thought I would give them a try. This place makes a great first impression because of the terrific customer service, decor and great tunes. The hair cut did not disappoint, they listened and delivered including a wash, head massage (which is a game changer) and hot towel - very relaxing. Unfortunately, this place wins my award for my worst ever haircut. The receptionist was very sweet, the place is fairly new and clean, but otherwise, it gives off an amateur hour impression. The hair cutter was a little rough around the edges and had a very strong smokey odour. Even though I expressed what I wanted clearly with my cut, he quickly cut it and then said, I thought you would be better off with this cut - it was really terrible, my friends and family agreed.
