It is said that this phenomenon began in Serbia around the time of World War I. Just Google your location and see if there is a Love Lock Bridge in your city! That's how I found this Love Lock Bridge in Houston! It was quite challenging to find! It took three days of attempts. It's at the beginning of Eleanor Tinsley Park. I parked by the sand volleyball court and walked back to the overhead pedestrian bridge. A couple of times, there were people taking selfies and at other times, there were photo shoots happening! It really is a cool place - especially around sunset time! I told my friend in Japan about this Love Lock Bridge and she said that there's one near her town! I can't wait for the day that she finds it and I hope you let me know if you find one near you!

The only thing required is a camera and some halfway decent lighting. Daytime is ideal for obvious reasons, but I think the mid-afternoon point is a good time where the light isn't too harsh and the transition to sun down makes for a cool effect. The sign is more than just the words, "We Love Houston" on it. With the right angle, the city's skyline is perfectly lined up with the letters and this is why it becomes the most ideal photo-op. EaDo is already the destination for graffiti art touring, this is really the ultimate bonus. The landmark is located right next to 8th Wonder Brewery (#1) in the backyard. This is a long review because I've worked on it for a long time…read more.. If you asked me to pick one place that defines Houston, it would be Buffalo Bayou Park. I've spent countless hours here running and riding my bike. Some days it's a quick evening jog, other days it's a long ride from Eleanor Tinsley Park toward Memorial Park or connecting through the trails to the University of Houston. No matter how many times I come back, it never gets old. The park has been the backdrop for so many of my favorite Houston memories. I came here for Free Press Summer Fest back in the day, Freedom Over Texas fireworks, the Art Car Parade, Pride celebrations, marathons, half marathons, 5Ks, and even the Texas Independence Relay. It's one of those places that feels completely different depending on the day. Sometimes it's quiet and peaceful, and other times it's filled with thousands of people celebrating everything that makes Houston unique. It also reminds me of some of the city's hardest moments. I'll never forget walking down after Hurricane Harvey and seeing the bayou swollen all the way up to Allen Parkway. It was hard to comprehend just how much water had moved through here. Seeing the park recover over time has been a reminder of Houston's resilience. One of my favorite discoveries has been the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern. It's such a unique experience and a reminder that there's always something new to explore, even after years of visiting the park. What I love most is how connected everything feels. The trails weave through the city with incredible downtown views, public art, green spaces, bridges, and plenty of places to stop and take it all in. Whether you're training for a race, out for a casual walk, riding your bike, or just enjoying the skyline, there's a reason people keep coming back. Buffalo Bayou Park isn't just another park to me. It's where I've made memories, challenged myself, celebrated with the city, and found a place to unwind. Every visit reminds me why I love living in Houston. I already can't wait for my next run, and I hope to see you out there.

This is one of the best place to bike in the inner loop with the separated biking and pedestrian trails. Connects to the heights and all major neighborhoods. A lovely place to get a walk or bike ride in on the evenings or weekends! There are quite a few manicured grass spots for picnics or to bring a book, as well as shaded areas. I have always felt very safe at this park. A 'not so hidden' gem as parking can be a little tough, but leads to not very busy trails. I never realized how beautiful this park is compared to the days I would only drive by!

I mean, who can pass up a cool memorial that is similar to the Washington monument in DC but it's in Texas so bigger (of course). We came on an afternoon during the hot, mid-June sun and there was not a soul there. The indoor museum was closed and we thought the whole park was closed at first, but no, it was just hot and most sane people were indoors. Hey, we're Minnesotans, we thrive in harsh weather conditions, mother nature be damned. We wandered around the grounds to see what this place had to offer. The monument with reflecting pond was cool to walk around, it is a really tall monument that can be seen for miles. Not a lot of stuff is built up around it though, so it feels way out in the middle of nowhere. It was also somewhat unnerving that we didn't see other people. A few more crazy people like us came after awhile and eased our nerves. It seems most people give a quick walk around the tower and then leave. Unfortunately, there was no battleship on the property as some other sites and reviews mention. That was a bummer, I would have gladly paid to take a look at that piece of history. That was kind of the ticket I used to get my family here, so once they figured out there wasn't a boat here, we packed up the car and left. Still a great piece of history that holds a special place in the heart of Texans (and the nation) everywhere. Interesting historical story to read about later too after visiting the site and seeing it first hand.

Everything was closed. 97'f certainly didn't help either. It is literally a small alley with colorful umbrellas and murals. Someone must have sprayed some graffiti as there were white paint covering the murals. Stayed for 3 minutes and left. Plenty of street parking. Walked over to the next block and there was a gallery scene painted on the exterior wall. I'd discourage to come all the way just for the alley but check it out if in the area.

They were having a Harry Potter theme as today is Harry Potter's birthday. Our family of four got sorted with the Sorting hat and we each got a button for our House. I was able to buy two succulents, two bracelets, a pair of earrings and order a custom Hawaiian shirt for my husband. We enjoyed walking through after having breakfast and supporting local businesses.
