It's a different kind of Friday night these days but you can still enjoy craft beer. I tend to usually have to lean towards gluten free beer if I lean towards a beer so am happy to know I can still go grab a good cold one from this place at the end of the work week. They've got my West Coast go to - Omission Brewing Co., one of the first good gluten free beers to hit the market. Smooth, light tasting. Usually fairly priced. This place used to be GREAT!!!! USED TO have a fantastic collection of craft beers!!!! it was my store!!! and it was close to home! Now, it has changed ownership and COMPLETELY changed for the WORSE!!! 95% of the craft beer is GONE!! all they have now is a cooler with a few craft beer selections where I can get the same at a grocery store!!!!! it WAS at one time pretty much the only place I could find with a great selection of craft beers. apparently now the new ownership only believes in liquor....very upsetting for us craft beer people..... I will most likely never go back.. and I will advise anyone else who enjoys good craft beers to NEVER walk in the doors of vine and Barrel again till something changes.. read more

Although as an elite yelper, there's not much to say about here that hasn't been said. Incredible and awesome selection one of the best in town. Their service can be hit or miss depending on who you interact with. At times, they will interact with you happily. Decently stocked store, conveniently located on the east side of Hixson Pike. Recent expansion has served the location well. Prices are in line with other stores in the area. Store inventory tilts toward mainstream (popular) brands, however some sizes are not in stock. Very weak in tequila selection. Parking better on the side (non-pike) lot. read more

I normally only rate restaurants, but I decided to rate this liquor store to speak to their service. First, the good. Their selection is good. I have almost always found what I'm looking for here. Now the bad. Their customer service is terrible, especially so. No one ever offers to help you find anything. And at the register, not a single employee will look at you, much less smile or ask you if you need anything else. I can't remember the last time anyone even uttered a word toward me or my significant other in there. Surliness. Contempt. That is what they seem to specialize in. And we're never going back again. While I was in the store the owner was walking around carrying a BB gun, as I was attempting to check out he shot at a poor wren that had become trapped inside the store over my head. Not only did he shoot a gun in a store full of people, but he shot a native bird protected by the migratory bird act. read more

This is the best store for beer near me and I think it has great selections. I wish it had a few more options in the single beer category as I am a big fan of variety. I haven't tried the growler fill because I always forget about it and never have my growlers with me and really, how many growlers does a girl need to have? They don't have every beer I could ever want, but I normally don't have an issue finding something to try. The selections in the cooler rotate quite a bit so that to me means fresh beer. I hate when I buy a beer and bring it home only to find it must have sat for quite awhile and now tastes like doo. I haven't had that happen with beer from here. read more

I go here at times to get what I need. They often have a larger selection than many other stores. My one gripe, however, is that they tend to come across as unfriendly. It's not that they are rude, because I have not found that to be the case. It's just their customer service feels cold. It doesn't feel like they are happy to have your business. Any eye contact is met without the benefit of a smile, or thanks for shopping with them. My family members express the same thing. They buy a good quantity of alcohol for different occasions, and they also stated they didn't like going there because of the cold customer service, and have found a different store to patronize. I do customer service and have long learned that good eye contact and a genuine smile will go a long way in making customers come back. I drive by them often but find myself not stopping because it isn't a pleasant shopping experience. I have found another store that opened recently and they are the polar opposite, inviting people in for special events, greeting you as soon as you enter the store, etc. They even special ordered something for me (found out where to get it, even) at fair, market price. Most importantly, I feel welcome there. (Eagle Liquors, Hixson, TN). And no, I do not work for them and am not related to anyone who does. I know Vine & Barrel make good money, but they could make SO much more if they could get personnel to smile and greet customers, and let them know they appreciate their business. read more

I was looking for a limited release Goose Island Bourbon County beer that had a suggested retail price of $9.99 a bottle. I called v&b when they opened to see if they had any in stock. They told me they did and that it was $12 and a limit of one per person. I showed up 30 min later and asked the guy at the counter where I could find them. He sent me to a guy in the back to find out. When I asked him, he acted like he couldn't be bothered with my question and sent me back up front to get them behind the counter. The guy at the counter rang me up and told me $40. I told him I had called earlier and was quoted $12 per bottle. He went to the office and asked the owner about the price. When he came back, he told me they were still $40, even though I was told a different price just 30 min before. I understand it's a private business and can sell their items for whatever they want, but when you tell a customer one price and change it right after and won't honor the stated price, I want nothing to do with that business. Especially when they price gouge. If you don't need help and just want a quick grab and go, it's probably ok. If you're looking for speciality or limited bottles, go elsewhere, like Riverside Wine. I called them and they were friendly and courteous. There were selling each bottle for $9.99 and even put one on hold for me because I was 30 min away. That's the way you run a good business. read more

When their computer system is down and unable to process credit cards their terminal displays card declined. With several people waiting to checkout the old man clerk seemed to be enjoying saying your card is declined. I told them repeatedly it was their system - a person knows that their Titanium Amex Platinum card is always good. I should have left and gone someplace else - but they opened the other register to take customers there - but guess what - the old man continues to say your card is declined. The young man working knew the system was down and was calling the owner to fix the situation. The old man needs to learn manners and stop accusing people of using a bad credit card. Their terminals have not accepted chip touch or Apple Pay for over a year. Their inventory was the lowest I have ever seen and their posting of large pics from their security cameras of shoplifters have made this business better suited for lower Main Street. They have lost a long term customer. read more

They have the Biggest and BEST priced selections of wine in Chattanooga. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. At Christmas I was shopping champagne and 3 other wines stores (not grocery stores) had the same brand, year etc of bubbly for nearly 20.00 more at all them . So glad to have this store close by . I'm guessing the awesome prices are because of the quantity in products . If you like beer their selection is huge as well. Plus you taste test on occasion. read more

Their craft beer selection stays up to date on the latest releases and Tommy is always available to help and makes great recommendations. The liquor and wine selection is also quite large. This liquor store has a great selection of wines, beers & Spirits but their customer service skills are the worst I have ever come across. They are just so rude and have no interest in creating any sort of rapport with their clients whatsoever !!! I purchased a bottle of Marsala wine which was $6.70mper bottle, took it to the checkout and the lady just grunted at me $14,60 and I said sorry and she just looks at the till and said that because I have input twice, no apologies, is there anything else we can do for you, have a nice day, nothing.
