There was 10 of us, but only 4 who drink beer. My sister and I enjoy wine and I spotted this gem right across the street! We split a tasting for $15 and tried 4 samplings of wine. Chardonnay- which wasn't dry enough for my sisters taste, cranberry- we both enjoyed this light wine, blueberry which was lightly sweet and lastly strawberry. The strawberries were harvested from Plant City and this was like summer in a bottle. I picked that one to take home. Even my sister was impressed with this bottle. Cranberry was her favorite. There were a couple other ladies who came in as we were finishing our tasting and they left with several bottles and very happy. I love the shop and I am sure to be back!

But I would not know that unless they mentioned it. Anyway I was given a price of $11.99 which was a good price. Well I get to the store. I ask a guy who works there about the wine I was looking for and instead of saying "I don't know the answer." he gives me the wrong answer. I almost start heading back to downtown to the winery but the traffic was crazy. So I pull over and look up the wine online. The guy should have said, "I don't know." instead of giving me bad information. So I paid for the wine which ended up being $1 more than I was quoted but the guy at the register was also cranky because I was so frustrated with the entire situation of stupid. Well I did calm down but this is the last time I will ever go back there. I would rather go to Walmart which I absolutely dislike and I would never spend a nickel at Broudy's because he could give two tosses about St Augustine except for all the money he will be making. So if I really need alcohol or wine there is a drive in store by the Winn Dixie which is totally out of my way but they might have more intelligent and nicer staff.

Grace was our lady that helped us with our wine tasting as well as letting us taste a couple of the Sauvignon Blanc that my mom wanted to try she was amazing. My 2 cups of red wine were about $20.21 and then on top of that I tipped her five dollars; she deserved it. She was very nice and very kind and letting us know what types of wines were in the wine tasting, as well as how much the wine tasting was for four wines. If you haven't been here, it is a little local mom and Pop place that has wines, beer, and seltzers. The ambience of the area that we were in was warm and inviting wanted you to get the best drink you could while staying for a little bit. 10/10

But I was floored at just how bad the service was on my latest visit. Looking at past reviews of this shop on Yelp, clearly customer service is an issue. I walked in fully expecting to buy several bottles of wine for a party. It was more connivence as I noticed bottles were priced well above double what they should have been. This was downtown St. Augustine, and I figured it was up-priced per the tourist market. But what I didn't expect was the worst customer service ever. I went to get a chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc, only to have the shop keeper literally yell at me, "Don't touch THAT!" as I went to the cooled wine selection. I looked down and I saw a sign (below the waist) that said only the shop keeper can open the refrigerator. Weird, but fine... I was asking for the price of the bottle. The shop keeper was screaming from across the room and didn't even bother to come over and help. The wine was Konos, a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. I lived in New Zealand for a few years and knew of this cheap bottle. She told me it would be $22, which is about double what you'd find in any other store. She then offered me to "taste" the wine if I purchased a glass since they served it by the glass. All this was screamed from across the room. Let me add, I was the only customer in the entire store. It was so rude. I kept trying to be friendly but she was really just not a kind person. As I was debating what to purchase, the shop keeper then screamed at my daughter who was looking at umbrellas. "DON'T TOUCH THAT!" This is where I draw the line. Call me a protective parent, but screaming at my child aggressively is beyond acceptable. I could understand if she was pulling bottles of wine off the shelf but it was an umbrella. My daughter started to cry. This shop keeper should be fired. Yelling at the CUSTOMER then their kid? This is completely unacceptable. I decided, no thank you. I'll take my business elsewhere. I walked a few blocks over to The Gifted Cork where I was treated with respect and the owner gave me recommendations while was kind and sweet to my daughter. I walked away from The Gifted Cork with 4 bottles of wine as gifts for my family. This spot? Well, you get this Yelp review and hopefully others will be warned to stay away.

Even tried their most popular: Sunshine & St. Augustine Rose which were both a white balsamic vinegar that were unique and fantastic. They have a nice variety of merchandise. Such things as: pastas & sauce, stuffed olives, bbq sauces, jams, spread & other novelty goods & specialty pantry items. (see pics & video) Staff was helpful in finding items to bring home with me & that could go in my carry on luggage (also offer shipping). We bought several things for ourselves and several things as gifts for others. We also learned they do special pairings and post recipes on occasion if you follow them on Instagram too! The owners are extremely passionate and knowledgeable about their business. As well as choosing the best quality products for their customers. They have 4 locations in Florida currently. That is un-brine-lievable! Note-This shop offers in-store refills for customers who bring back their bottles which allows for a sustainable solution for returning customers.
