I mist say I was thoroughly disappointed by the experience. Not only was the instructor's final product nothing like the painting on the website, but the quality of the paints and brushes was lacking. Half the time was spent waiting while Mark went downstairs to unlock the door for some late guests or refilling drinks and the other half of the time was spent painting on vague instructions. The most interesting part of this experience was watching paint dry, because honestly, I've had a better time doing our own paint night at home with a couple canvases, some nice acrylic paint and brushes, and some Bob Ross videos on YouTube. Pros: Convenience if not having to buy supplies. Cons: Lacking paint supply quality. Lacking instruction. Hidden location on the 3rd floor of Computer Central. I'm really not sure how to start this review... My partner and I had been trying to figure out what kind of fun activity we could do together that wasn't too expensive but also enjoyable for the both of us. Recently, we got into painting together at home by following Bob Ross' (the OG painting home) painting tutorials on YouTube. My partner came up with the idea of a paint and wine kind of night with a painting instructor, which we both excitedly agreed to! Upon perusing Google and all possible studios found online near us, VinoArtist came up! We saw the ample examples and sessions they had and were super stoked to book a session. For $25/person, we would get a canvas, access to paint colors and brushes, and a pro instructor to teach us how to paint our desired picture for 3 hours! Wow, what a steal! Or so we thought. PS: if you want wine, you'll have to pay $5/cup or get their VIP pass to get wine for free (or discounted price. I don't drink, so not sure lol). Water bottles and snacks were sold $1 a piece too! No free gourmet popcorn for anyone with the wine pass. Upon arriving to the studio, we were greeted by our instructor for the night, Mark. He checked us off his tablet and instructed us to find an empty seat before the painting session started. We arrived roughly around 6:45pm, 15 minutes before 7:00pm (the start of the paint session). Unfortunately, we didn't really start until 7:20pm because people were either late or lost finding the building. I felt really bad that Mark had to keep running up and down the building to open the door for folks to come in since the lobby doors are locked. Perhaps the folks at VinoArtist should invest in a helper so that the teacher shouldn't have to run back and forth to let late students in? I felt bad for Mark and the number of times he had to run in and out of the room to let others in. Anyways, aside from starting late, the session felt a bit awkward at times. As much as Mark was trying to entertain everyone with his jokes, there were some awkward moments of silence or sad jokes being thrown in. To be honest, I can't even remember what was said or taught, as I was trying so hard on my own to paint and complete my painting with the little tips and tricks Mark presented. He did warn us he was quick though lol. The main thing that really disappointed me the most about this painting night session was how the painting that was advertised to us upon signing up was NOTHING like the reference photo depicted in class. When another student inquired why the reference photo was so different, Mark explained that students got frustrated with keeping up with the advanced/featured painting that we all signed up for. Hmmm...okay. Then why don't you just update the picture then? We all felt deceived that we weren't paying for what we expected to learn???? Take a look at my pictures to see what I'm talking about. I wish I took a photo of the painting he drew at the end of class because it also looked nothing like the reference photo he put up before he began painting. Aside from the tardiness, the deception, and the dry jokes that filled the evening, my partner and I thought the event was okay. We were too busy trying to complete the painting that we just kept to ourselves throughout the event and left once the event ended. PS: the event did not take 3 hours. Approximately a good 1 hour and 30 minutes, as we finished around 9:15pm. If you want to do a paint and wine night and don't have supplies at home, I think it's fine to paint here, but don't expect to walk away with the painting you signed up to learn...I think my partner and I will stick to at home painting with Bob Ross. read more

I'm somewhat torn on how many stars to leave this place. I thought Mark was engaging and made witty comments, and overall the night was an enjoyable experience. Where I'm torn is the actual business itself. I've been to many other paint nights and this one was just overall unusual. We got a Groupon which included wine and "gourmet" popcorn but there was no popcorn. They provided costco packs of Doritos etc on sale for a dollar and water for a dollar. The room was incredibly hot and unpleasant, apparently the AC wasn't working but if this is a bonafide business, basic HVAC should be a guarantee. Also the painting on the website was not what was instructed. I've seen the business owner reply with "as long as you have fun is what matters." This is where I have issue because I have been to many other paint nights where we got to paint what was exactly shown on the website, we got we we expected and we paid for what we expected. The example given "you and I" looked super warped, and just looked funny. It looked like a painting from another customer? Anyway I'm not trying to ding the instructor, he was pleasant and I think he was working with what he had. I think this is more of a business owner issue. Ok so after writing this all out, I started out with three stars but now I'm actually taking it down to two. What a pricey paint night with really subpar conditions (no AC, no snack that was included in the price, and weird painting template). I will not be coming here again not because of the instructor (again he was pleasant and engaging) but the business owner should look into addressing the above comments (it seems like everyone who have low stars have the same complaint). This is my first review ever. I wish I could give this business negative stars!! They do not return calls or emails so dont even bother. I've been trying to get help from them since November, but have yet to hear back from them. If any one is trying use a Groupon I wish you luck. You can only use the Groupon for select classes. Also during checking out they will still ask you to pay. I bought a Groupon for two with the value of $110. I tried to register for a class that was $90 for two. Upon check out I was asked to put in my credit info to pay for the $20 dollar difference. I also tried contacting Groupon, but they will not refund me beciase it was passed their grace period. The only reason I went passed the grace period was because I was waiting for vino artist to get back to me. Summary: Horrible business practices. No one will respond to your emails and or calls. Decided to switch our date night up and take a painting class at VinoArtist with my fiancé! Asides we're an unartistic duo-- we've had this in our to-do bucket list as a couple. Since VinoArtist offers different themes each class for you to recreate, we went with the "You and I" painting which is a couple admiring a sunset at a beach. If my fiancé and I were to be a masterpiece, it would be exactly that since we both love the beach and watching sunsets during spring/summer. As advertised once we arrived we were given art supplies along with aprons and a station with our canvas. Before class started, our instructor told us they had some snacks and alcohol for sale to eat and sip during class. So glad we brought our own bottle and charcuterie-- the pours seemed small and snack selection wasn't the best! Throughout the class we were guided step by step but midway through the couples seated next to us including ourselves had a hard time catching up since the instructor decided to speed up. Definitely was a challenge for most of us beginners but a great experience. For those who didn't get to finish once he was done with the class he gave the option to stay for a bit to add finishing touches or catch up. The end product forsure didn't turn out as shown on the website which is okay since you're supposed -- but we did a pretty good job or should I saw my fiancé did. Went here recently for a team building event. This place can be tough to find since it's inside a business building nestled in a little room on the third floor. After overcoming the hurdle of locating the actual place, everything was cool. We were able to bring in our own finger food and drinks (which included wine too). The instructor was fairly new (only two months on the job) but was very patient. Each person gets a station with an apron, thick and skinny paint brushes, a paper plate (for the paint), water cup, napkin, and a canvas sitting on an easel. There is a painting chosen before the class begins and your goal is to recreate that image onto your own canvas. Thankfully you're not on your own since there is an instructor that will guide you step by step as you're painting. It's a fun experience and I didn't realize how challenging painting can be. I really wish that I didn't have to write this review, as I have never once left a negative review before for any vendor on any platform. Unfortunately I need to share my experience to prevent others from having the same issues. Do NOT book a class with Vinoartist - the class purchase process is misleading, and it is impossible to connect with any customer service. I purchased a class from Groupon and was told that I could apply my Groupon code to my basket on the Vinoartist website. When booking and selecting my class, I progressed the page as there was no field for any type of code on the booking page. I was then charged with a class without being able to use my Groupon. I have called and emailed Vinoartist for weeks with no support. Groupon was able to credit my Groupon code for another activity as I was not able to contact Vinoartist at all. I have not been able to refund or reschedule my Vinoartist class, and have no idea what to do to get my money back. DO NOT BUY TICKETS FROM THIS BUSINESS. Reading other people's reviews, I can see this organization is either a scam or just unorganized. Either way, they are really unprofessional whoever runs this business. I bought 2 tickets and on the day of the event, nobody showed up. I was with a group of people who were waiting for the event to start. Called the number a bunch of times and it doesn't even go through. Emailed twice, and also messaged on Facebook. Ran into 2 people that work in that building and they said that the person who runs it car is not there and usually there is a sign saying they have a class. DO NOT BUY GROUPON EITHER. They have Groupon tickets but it says on their website certain tickets cannot be used for a voucher. They offer a 50% off coupon for people who subscribe to email and nothing gets emailed to you. I signed up for a class back in September. The day of the class, an email was sent informing us the class was canceled. Trying to get a refund was quite an experience: The website lists a fake phone number. The email address has an automated reply with no live person actually answering. The instructor painted a completely scribbled and loose version of the original painting we were supposed to paint. Ignoring the fact that the building itself seemed odd as a venue for this type of thing and people were crammed in there like sardines during COVID, there are lots of other problems with our experience here. 1. Wine & "Popcorn" - my friends and I booked VIP tickets via Groupon and were promised "gourmet" popcorn alongside our wine. We got wine (which tasted vaguely of like Franzia, but whatever. I wasn't expecting Napa or Sonoma level wine) but we never got popcorn. In fact, there was no popcorn to be seen anywhere on the premises. It seems like a weird thing to make "VIP" and pay extra for when we received nothing for the extra money we paid. 2. The instructor was rude. On the ride up in the elevator, we expressed how we had difficulty finding the place, and he said (and I quote directly), "well that's not my problem." Cool. So now we're stuck in an elevator with him, and we have the next 2 and a half hours painting with him. 3. The instructor could barely paint. His version of the Eiffel Tower was comical when compared to the original. I wish I had take a picture of his version. The colors weren't anywhere close to correct, and the proportions were absurdly wrong. I see that the owner has mentioned that these are "professional artists with years of experience" and I'd love, love, love for her to prove it. If he is a professional artist, then I'm the reincarnation of Vincent Van Gough. I had more fun writing this review than I did my 2.5 hours there. read more

I would give this place one star if I could. I booked a paint night several days in advance and then the company sent me an email the day before my scheduled class stating that they had to cancel it because the instructor was sick. I understand that things come up, and safety is first so if an instructor is sick, by all means-cancel the class. However, I take issue with the fact that they refused to refund my money even though they were the ones to cancel. They stated that "all sales are final", which doesn't make any sense to me as they didn't sell me anything since no service was provided. Very disappointing experience. First of all, the painting that was shown by the instructor for what the final product will look like had no semblance to the one we saw on the website when we booked our tickets. Secondly, the painting the instructor painted along with us, not only had no semblance to either the final product he showed us or to the one on the website but also looked very amateur like a little kid had painted it. The instructor kept saying he would focus on the details later on so we kept hoping the painting would get better at some point but that never happened. Not worth the money or time, could've painted a much better picture by just doing this at home ourselves and using the original picture as reference. The session was supposed to be 7-9:30pm. Located on the third floor of a computer supplies store building, I think Vino Artist is a decent place to come and paint with your friends. You receive two complementary glasses of wine, either Merlot or Chardonnay, as well as some ranch flavored popcorn. If you would like to drink more, it is available for purchase. When you come in, the studio is set up with your blank canvas, a paper plate with paint that you will use during the class, paintbrushes, a water cup, and an apron on the chair. I suggest coming a bit before 7 to pick the seats that you want. Surprisingly my friends and I are always the first to arrive. From my experience, the painting doesn't seem to start until 7:30 because people are still coming through the door at 7:15 and the teacher starts pouring cups of wine at that time as well. The class will usually end by 10pm. The teachers are different because it depends on the painting. Each teacher has their own style of teaching as well. Some may be extremely informative on how to do something while others lets you foster your own creativity to figure it out. Overall, great experiences here. I only wish that their website didn't have glitches because my friend signed up for the class and was confirmed and then they emailed back saying that the class was full. My group of friends and I were extremely disappointed because we were going as a group of 6. In the end, it worked out because two people didn't show up to the class. read more

I bought a deal on groupon 2 for 30$, instead of 2 for 62 as a Christmas present for my friend. It was a great way to buy a Christmas present for my friend and to have a girls night together! Vino Artist is located in the same building as the central computers company. When we arrived, we were greeted by the art teacher, checked in, got our choice of red or white wine, and helped ourselves to popcorn and cookies! Then the painting began! The instructor was super helpful and slow enough for us to keep up with. We did about half of the canvas and had an intermission to refill on wine and refreshments. We completed our masterpieces and the instructor took our pictures, and we were along our merry way! There was barely 2-3ft between us and other people, and it was a full class (about 30 people). When we took the class, masks were optional even without having to show proof of vaccine. The instructor was hard to hear and seemed like he was rushing. THE DEAL: We got one glass of wine with our VIP passes unlike in previous reviews. I bought the groupon deal and it was an overall fun experience! The groupon includes 2 glasses of wine along with popcorn; first glass served before painting starts and second glass served during the 10 minute break. Painted the tree of life and it was a lot easier than it looks. Our instructor demonstrated step by step and walked around the room to give tips. Tips: -Get here earlier than your scheduled class if you are coming with friends and want to sit together or want a good seat to view the demonstration painting. My friend and I showed up right on time and we had to get seats across from each other as there weren't any open seats for two next to each other -look for computer central building next to McDonald's and across from pep boys on Stevens creek. There is plenty of free parking behind the building and the studio is on the third floor of computer central -don't be afraid to add your own flair to your painting rather than just blindly following the demonstration :) -try to paint the edges of your canvas as you go along (while you have the mixed color paint you want) will look a lot more cleaner when finished Only downside is that the full classes are super cramped; literally elbow to elbow. It sounds great in theory, but falls short every step of the way. Getting into the building was the first hurdle, since the outer door was locked for the night. 10 of us were standing around waiting until someone from a different group was sent down to open the door. We then had to repeat this for anyone else who showed up (send someone down 3 floors to open a door). It was setup in a cramped room with tables of different heights packed close together. They didn't prepare enough stations for the number of tickets sold, and there was only one person running the thing. This meant that the first 45 minutes was waiting for them to serve drinks and move display paintings to make space for whoever showed up. For the actual painting, the example that was setup was someone else's product from a previous class. It threw off everyone in the room, since it was very proportionally different than the original. The instructor used yellow on white to start the painting, which would make sense for one person, but meant that people kept having to ask what they had just painted and walk right up to the canvas to see anything. The instructor was sweet, but not charismatic, helpful, good at painting, or efficient in running the class. The paints were really cheap and didn't mix or stack well. They were served in huge plops on a paper plate, with no real room to blend (this was also something that was not done in advance). Each person was provided with 2 brushes. Neither of mine were good nor fresh. They also provided a cup of water and a single paper towel. The wine service was just plain inefficient. While setting up and checking people in, the instructor was also going around the room taking wine orders, getting the tiny plastic cups 1/2 filled with mystery wine, bringing them around and handing out tickets for refills. When people tried to redeem the tickets, they were told to wait for a break in the instruction later. The wine was stored in plastic wrap covered juice carafes and whenever one ran out they had to go across the room into a storage area to refill it. If this were a $5 volunteer painting class at the learning annex targeted at children who didn't know any better, maybe it would be okay, but as a business this is unacceptable. read more

Got a groupon for $31 for a 3 hr wine & paint event with VinoArtist with 2 of my friends and was really pleasantly surprised with the whole experience :) Wine + paint on a Monday night plus a catch up session with 2 of my favorite girls = a recipe for awesomeness. I really didn't have high expectations for my painting because I have zero experience with water color nor do I have much artistic talent. Our instructor guided us step by step and explained where certain colors should go and the basics to blending and mixing our colors but gave us a lot of opportunity to be creative and paint our own interpretation of the night's theme (which was Sailboats). Everyone's painting honestly looked really good and it was interesting to see how each painting was different & unique in their own way :) I think the one thing they can definitely improve on is the wine & snacks. Although I liked my white wine, it was served in one of those disposable plastic cups and our snacks were kind of a mish mash of "kiddy" snacks served in a plastic container (gummy candy, cheese, crackers, grapes, cookies). I think investing a little bit in classing up the food/wine presentation would definitely earn the extra star!
