Horrible. If you're looking here for your loved one, ask them how many Executive Directors they…read morehad. At least 10 since the place opened in 2022. Just this week, Jim, one of the Activity Directors, was fired suddenly, after three years of providing great service to the residents. Food is awful, and lacks choices or quality. Have a special diet? Too bad. Eat what they make-- and pay $400/month for it! Mom needs low sodium and asked for alternatives for breakfast. She was told that she should just eat the sausage. Ummm....no. She cannot. Please do not treat her like an incompetent child. She is fully aware of what she can and cannot eat! But the most egregious?? Try having no way for the EMT's to access an apartment after hours. My mom fell and hit her head. She couldn't open the door. They had to break the lock to get in! And five months later, the lock is still broken. Still not convinced to stay away? This week, they drove my mom to Sherman Hospital for an appointment she had there. The bus never returned. My mom called me, saying she'd been waiting over 2 hours. My mom, who is 87 years old, was told they were coming and they never came. I called to find out when she could expect the bus and was told, 'oh, I thought she was home'. They had *no idea* that my mom was left behind. I had to go and get her and bring her back. Needless to say, she is moving to Clarendale at the end of this month. Do yourselves a favor and stay away from this den of incompetence and disregard. oh, and the other review that mentions the wonderful Director, Brian? he lasted about 6 weeks.

He took us to the desired apts, allowing us to " get a feel" for the size and style, layout while also answering all questions , ( trust me there were a lot ). As we were looking at the different floor plans, he was also talking and showing us all of the amenities throughout the community. We ended up at the main restaurant, where he invited us to return and enjoy breakfast ,lunch, or dinner, , further getting a feel for what goes on, and resident interaction. After we completed the tour, we asked for a few minutes to sit and chat, but also observe how some of the other residents interact daily. We were very pleased, with the looks, the tour, and also with Brian's patient and knowledge, and the "No Pressure" attitude. My mom said she felt good about everything!! We agreed to return the next day with my son so he could see and get a feel for the community where she would be staying. He agreed, it was comfortable and the right place for grandma. After having a little discussion, we all agreed and signed the lease. What a wonderful experience for mom, as well as myself, and even my son.

It is my life's greatest regret that I chose this place as my mothers' final residence. They lure…read moreyou in with empty promises, it all sounds lovely until your loved one is in residence, then it's a very different story. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!! But also, good luck with that, as the communication once all the forms are signed and the automatic payment is set up is an absolute joke. I have pages of emails that went unanswered (I live out of state). My sister called with questions and left multiple voicemails over 12 months, not one call was returned. Not one! It wasn't until I copied every name I could find that I finally received a response to questions like How do I get my mom on the schedule to see the onsite doctor? Who can I talk to about her prescriptions? Her refrigerator is still not working... 3 months later. Etc. In hindsight, I am convinced the reason they never responded to my emails is, so I did not have their response in writing. When I asked very important questions in writing, then escalated my email after weeks of no response, I would get a phone call saying I should come in to discuss it. Never a written response. This happened multiple times. My final two emails asking how to close out my mom's accounts, after months of no communication, also went unanswered. I had to call corporate to get a response. Julie is the most unprofessional person I have ever had the misfortune to interact with. There were 3 different Health & Wellness Directors in the 12 months that my mother lived there. That alone speaks volumes. Read the reviews on Indeed! I wish I had. For the most part, the medical staff was good. There were a few that were rude and borderline negligent toward my mom, and there were a few that were absolute gold and genuinely caring, but that just goes with the territory. My issue is when I tried to address some of my mom's complaints or concerns, I was met with "I'm sure that's not what happened". Or "She must have misunderstood" or nonsense like that. I witnessed one event, and it wasn't until I said Are you accusing her of lying? that she backed off the narrative that there's no way anything my mother was saying happened. Beware! They will not believe your loved one. They will deny everything instead of simply addressing the issue. They'll tell you their average response time is 6 mins from when the resident hits the button to call for help, that is not the reality at all. I witnessed multiple times where it was over 15 mins if not longer. Most times it was around 10-15 mins but there were far too many times when it wasn't. There were 2 instances at night when there was no response at all until the next day. The bigger issue for me was when I tried to speak to Julie about my mom's concerns about the long wait times or lack of response entirely, her response was to tell me that my mom was the 2nd highest quantity of requests for help. And? She's there because she needs help, and their response to not keeping up their end of the very expensive bargain is to say it's my mom's fault because she asks too many times??? Absolutely unacceptable. They'll tell you housekeeping is included - not true. I had to clean every time I went to see her. The hospice nurse even cleaned while she was there. When we moved my mom's furniture, the extent to which they did not clean was gut wrenching. They did keep to the laundry schedule for the most part, but they left us with a full hamper of dirty laundry when she passed. Over a weeks' worth. They didn't even have the decency to spare us that even though she was still under their care and we continued to pay for weeks after her death. They didn't call to offer condolences, but you better believe they called to find out when the apartment would be vacant. They did not return my calls when I asked when to expect the refund due to us 4 months after she passed. I could go on and on but just writing this breaks my heart. Don't make the same mistake I did. A mistake that will haunt me for the rest of my life.

I was widowed a few years ago, and could no longer maintain our house of 39 years on 1/2 acre. I'd looked into other places, but after having a tour at Westshire, I knew this was it for me. I have friends who've lived here for many years, and I know they're happy, so I had no doubts. There are plenty of activities and some of my friends just love them, although I haven't been active in any. However, I know I can at any time if I want. Community lunches (optional) are served twice a week, and periodic health check services, etc. are available. So, you can choose how active you'd like to be. Personally, I love people and am so glad to stop and chat, but I also cherish solitude. I live in one of the condo units, and have never been bothered by noise from other units. My balcony overlooks the woods, and I love watching the turkeys, sandhill cranes, deer and so many birds. More often than not I 'share' the nature path with the cranes and turkeys. In the winter when the leaves are off the trees, I've got a perfect view of the lake, and can see the ice fishing shanties. I just love it! And I was thrilled to watch Independence Day fireworks from my own living room and balcony, close up and personal! Wow! As I've lived in Delavan for 40 years, one of the pluses for me is to walk to my bank a block away. So I've got the country and town together. I'm in my mid-70's, and I accept that I'll be getting frailer as time passes. There are home health services through the Aurora and Mercy health systems, so that's reassuring to me. I've read the other review here. As I haven't been here long enough to know what happened with the party who had such a nightmare receiving the end of contract money, I would assume this was a one-time debacle, as I've never read or heard of lawsuits against Westshire for reneging on their contracts. This is a nonprofit organization with legal checks and balances, so whatever happened, I sympathize with the party, but can't imagine it's an ongoing problem. Let me end by suggesting that you come and take a tour. Bring a list of questions, concerns, etc. to ask the management. And especially, meet some residents and ask them for their opinions of this place. What do they like about it? And what don't they like (nothing is perfect, so see if there are any grumbles). That would tell you more than any review could possibly state, and you'd then have a much clearer idea of whether you'd like to live here. As for me? This is my beloved home from now the end of my days!

Tish Lux is the exclusive broker handling the leasing. She is completely unresponsive during the process and won't respond to phone calls or emails from past residents or their family inquiring about the status of the re-leasing efforts and their money. In our case, we just learned that they had re-leased my mother-in-law's condo sometime in the fall of 2016 and never sent her the money she was due or contacted her. When we finally sent a threatening letter we got an apology and check in April. We had called Tish numerous times in the intervening months without a return call, yet they claimed they didn't know how to reach us. If this is how they treat a person who used to volunteer every week in the office with Tish, I can't imagine how they would treat a regular resident.
