It poured rain the whole time we were in the area and was pretty chilly - we really enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while listening to the rain and nature sounds around us! We didn't have any problems, other than not having a corkscrew in the cabin- which Peggy resolved speedily! The locations great too. It's close to the parks and only a short drive away from Kroger, Walmart, the Hocking Hills Winery and Brewery 33. I'd stay here again and would recommend the cabin to my friends or family.

The location…read morewas great, as we wanted to explore the less well-known Clear Creek Metro Park instead of Hocking Hills. The guest book was full of people raving about how they'd return soon. Based on the location and affordability, I wish we could plan on returning, but after our first experience, we will not. Unfortunately the entire place smelled like natural gas the whole 3-day weekend. The loft concentrated the fumes and it was so bad there that we had to sleep downstairs. Opening all the windows helped a lot. Fortunately it was a very warm weekend so it didn't get too cold inside but most people will not be so lucky as to get 60 degree weather in February. When I mentioned the smell to the owners they said that this is what happens when the gas tank gets low. This really isn't an excuse, all they need to do is let the tanks run dry and replace a valve. Other complaints were minor. Some smashed pottery outside the house and the area could have used a little general picking up. Despite the printed instructions, we could not for the life of us figure out how to access the DirecTV channels, so there was only one TV channel available. (We didn't mind this much but it's still annoying.) The fireplace would turn on by itself sometimes; it was unnerving to wake up to a gas-filled house and find an unattended fire burning, despite following the printed fireplace instructions. Would have been a 4 star review if not for the gas.

There are only 2 imenities at the Freedom cottage,a hot tub and fireplace; however, our hot tub did not heat up until 6pm on 2nd night, we noticed the heat filter is very very full and should be changed ASAP causing hard to breathe and sleep. The fireplace pilot light switch is broke and could be Hazzardous to renters. There should be a trash can outside cabin like sign says inside. There should definitely be hot tub directions for renters to avoid issues in the future to ensure once cleaner drains and fills up that it us set on the correct code settings to heat up for the next renter. When drain hot tub should be done early and turned on and ready to ensure full amenities are working.

But none seem to have the solitude of Annette's property. Yet, we are only 10 minutes from major attractions and 15 minutes from dining and grocery stores. Great location!!! PROS: Location Location Location. Very clean. We stayed in the Wyandot. They have two more cabin types; Mingo and Delaware. Property has a nice jacuzzi, a fire pit, a full kitchen... literally everything you might need is provided. Just carry your groceries with you from nearby Logan or Lancaster. Cons: The Wyandot has 3 bedrooms but only one bathroom. The property has a well; the water smells of sulphur (It does not taste funky). We carried bottled water with us. The driveway is gravel and can be slippery in winter or in the rains.

There are hiking trails on the property and we left the beaten path and explored the property on our own. 2.5 hours of hiking without running into another person! It is beautiful! The driveway is steep and curvy but we didn't have any trouble in our van. They recommend 4 wheel drive - particularly in poor weather. The water is well water so bring bottled water to drink if you are sensitive to that. The kitchen had everything we needed.

I enjoyed the front porch glider and rocking chair too! We walked about 1/4 mile on a wide path to the pond on the property, and took advantage of fishing without a license. It was a short drive ( less than 20 mins) to trail heads at ash cave and cedar falls. We hiked a total of about 11/12 miles from ash cave to cedar falls to old man's cave and back. We enjoyed the hot tub after that! Check in and check out was seamless, as the office was extremely close to the cabins themselves. We highly recommend.

We sat on the porch and listened to the wood thrushes warbling through the woods, and after dark, we sat and enjoyed the quiet and the darkness. All of the amenities were seen to in the cabin, and when I needed something, they came right down with help. The cabin was very clean, and very comfy. We didn't want to leave!! If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, this is the one.

Well, we missed last year's trip because it was booked up. Meadows Lodge is nicely layed out with beautiful solid wood decor throughout and plush carpet to make you feel at home. At 6,700+ sq/ft, it's the largest cabin available there. It has 8 bedrooms (15 total beds), 4 full baths, 25+ acres, hot tub, internet and DirecTV with a 120 inch theater with surround sound, roulette table, card table, pool table and Foosball table in the basement, volleyball court, in-ground heated pool, built-in grill, (bring your own propane) built-in bar, corn hole, horse shoes and access to 160 acres of hiking. The full kitchen comes complete with cookware and utensils and there's also a kitchenette and a laundry room in the basement. In the yard they have a large fire pit with bench seats around it. You have to provide your own firewood, but they have delivery services available. The cabin is about a 20 minute drive from some of the attractions at Hocking Hills State Park. We always make a drive over to Old Man's Cave for some scenic hiking. Check it out! They also have zip lining and horseback riding close by, but we have yet to try that out. The Meadows gets booked up pretty quick, so we usually need to reserve it a year in advance. We usually reserve it for early spring and for 3 nights and it usually comes out to around $1700. When divided amongst our usual group of 17 or so people, it's really reasonable. Late spring and summer rates can almost double in cost, so we find this time of the year the best deal. We can't justify paying that much more just to have the pool open! If you have a large group or a smaller one, book the Meadows Lodge or any of the smaller cabins in the area for a great time in Hocking Hills!

It sounded too perfect not to…read morebook it when I made the reservations last October, but when I still couldn't find reviews online as of this spring I was getting nervous. It was just built in 2011, so I guess people just haven't gotten around to writing up their stays yet. The place was absolutely perfect for our needs. It was easy to book online (yay! no phone calls!), and easy to find. We really appreciated the hassle-free check-in and check-out process. The driveway is steep, but doable without 4WD in the summer (perhaps not in the winter). It's very secluded. We could hear cars on the road and voices at nearby properties, but we couldn't see anyone. The cabin is gorgeous, and the owners have thought of everything you might need. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cookware and small appliances (toaster, coffee maker, blender). They even provide detergent for the washing machine and dishwasher, roasting sticks for the fire pit, cooking spray for the grill, plenty of firewood, extra extension cord, and flashlights. I did read in the guest book that a few visitors experienced power outages, so maybe that's the reason for the flashlights. I can't comment on how responsive the owners are to maintenance issues because we had zero problems during our stay. We were only there for 2 nights, but we definitely want to go back. I would love to stay longer. I probably won't even bother to look at other lodging options if we ever decide to stay in the Hocking Hills area again.
