So happy we stumbled upon this little campground. Out of all the campgrounds we visited this summer (including Jellystone in Mt. Gilead), this was the kids favorite. I felt safe letting them ride their bikes and play at the playground. It is close to anything you'd need and about a 25 minute drive to Old Man's Cave. We also had a small issue (which turned into a non-issue) in the beginning with someone else plugged into our 30 amp and the lady at the office couldn't have been nicer and took care of everything right away. We did not visit the "beach" because it was fairly brisk. Came mid week after a rain and it was nice and quiet. The staff was helpful, providing us with benches, fire pits, and trash collection services. There are about six bathrooms on-site, which also have shower facilities. However, on our second night, the campsite was fully occupied, making it difficult to use the restrooms as they were often in use. Many people took long showers without considering others. By the end of the night, the bathrooms were very dirty, the toilets were clogged, and there was no hand soap left.

If you have a small camper or like to tent camp, this place is perfect. The back half of the grounds are shaded very well. Also mentioned by others, there are plenty of pond related things to do. Not mentioned often is that there is a nice playset and a jump pad in the center of the camp which was nice for us to let the kids go play on with other kids. The restroom was clean and well stocked. The showers were decent. As with any camp bathouse, it was soupy inside. Negatives: The lack of shade for the cabins and pull through sites. The activities were hit or miss the weekend we stayed. We showed up for a couple of them to find the activity area abandoned, or were told that they didn't know if it was going to happen. We had to leave early morning the day we left. There is no night slot on the office so we had to slide our keys on top of the door and hope they were found. We called the after hours number which went to voicemail. We left a message to call us to confirm they received the message and found the keys... no call back... we called them later in the day and confirmed they found them. All and all our stay nets out as a 5 out of 10. Mediocre customer service, inconsistent camp activities, good bath house, great cabins, and great water activities, bad pool situation. I would have scored this much higher if not for the little problems.

The online pictures created expectations that simply were not met when we arrived. To make matters worse, campsites were not clearly labeled, which resulted in another camper taking our reserved site. Management was very disorganized and, instead of taking responsibility and resolving issues efficiently, seemed to have an excuse for everything. The site we were ultimately assigned was basically a mud pit and not suitable for the premium price we paid. Many of the amenities advertised were either under construction or unavailable during our stay, yet this was not adequately communicated beforehand. We chose this campground and paid the higher rates expecting the advertised experience, but what we received fell far short. For the amount of money spent, this campground was simply not worth it. Hocking Hills itself is beautiful, but we left feeling frustrated and misled. Unfortunately, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this campground to others.

If u are going to tackle the more challenging trail, I suggest you wear something better than running shoe, because surface can be slippery, especially on the Grandma Gatewood trail and whispering cave trail Best time to come is during rainy season or after a big storm, because the water flows are higher. Otherwise you might just see a small trickle from the waterfalls.

Plenty of bridges and paved areas. You can really make your Hocking Hills experience as intense as you'd like. With features such as Old Man's Cave and a creek with several water falls, you do not want to miss this park. My personal favorite season to visit is autumn, watching the trees shed their colorful leaves. Gorgeous views, great photo ops, and fun for the whole family. Not to mention free parking.

It almost feels like stepping into another environment entirely, especially knowing the area is dedicated to wildlife conservation. Our campsite was quiet and well spaced out, which made it easy to enjoy the surroundings without constant noise from nearby groups. The campsites had a small bundle of wood for a campfire and they were really well spaced out so you don't feel that you are right on top of the next site.
