I love shopping for vinyl, mostly because it feels like a treasure hunt, with the reward being some…read moreof your favorite music in physical form. Whenever I'm in Rochester, I make sure to stop here to get my fix. It is HUGE. You could easily spend a long chunk of time here perusing through their collection of records. But that's not all they have. They've got CDs, movies, books, vintage clothing, posters, and lots of great "gift" type items. They even have a little bar area that serves as a venue for musicians to play. The inside is quirky and everything I love to see in a record store. I really resonate with the posters they have hanging and all the random decor they have throughout the shop. The staff is super friendly and eager to help if you're looking for something specific, which is a plus since there's so much terrain to cover. Record Archive is definitely what I'd consider a top tier record shop.

So after living here what feels like forever, I FINALLY made it to Record Archive. This place is…read moremassive. In the back, there's a cool space where they host live concerts and yes, you can grab a libation while you enjoy the music. Cheers to that. The selection? Ridiculous (in the best way). Vinyl and CDs from just about every artist on the planet. They'll even buy your old music. You'll also find some local goods, and the moment you walk in, you're hit with the comforting smell of incense. It's a vibe! The staff? Helpful, friendly, and chill and zero snobbery. It honestly reminds me of Wax Trax and Vintage Vinyl in Chicago... but way bigger. I'll be back.

Well organized. Good prices. (I'm especially into soundtracks, and this place has an impressive collection of used soundtracks.) This is my new favorite local record shop!

This is officially my favorite record store in Buffalo. The owner, Wayne, is such a genuine guy and…read morewill ask if you need any help looking for something specific the moment you walk in the door. And if you stick around browsing long enough, he'll tell you incredible stories about famous musicians and his friends in the business. The atmosphere in his store is like no other. Wayne takes pride in the memorabilia he has on the walls and shelves, as he should! Each piece he collects has a story that's worth hearing. The walls are covered in artwork by local artists, concert posters of famous bands who performed locally, and some really fun stuff too, like a drawing by Bono that his friend gave him! Cool Beat has an awesome collection of vinyl. Both new and old and all different genres. The store is super organized and every artist/ record was easy to find. Wayne is always working on getting new music in so always check back in from time to time to find something new. He also sells cds, 45s, posters, and other retro Buffalo/ music related items. His store seriously has a great collection and his prices are extremely fair in comparison to other record stores in the area. He also has a stamp card to get $5 off when you spend $50. All in all, Cool Beat is hands down the best place to come if you truly appreciate music and want to support local business.
