I originally got introduced to TSME when my dad was shopping for cds with AC/DC ORIGINAL vocalist Vaughn Scott. It impressed me that they found it as an import that they could get. Since then I go every time I'm home. I've gotten music, movies and even posters for the Goonies and Purple Rain! Recently I found my niece here in WA was getting a record player for Christmas. My sister in law asked to help her track down two classics from when we were younger. I was nearly always a rock and hard rock kind of kid. I found Aerosmiths greatest hits and Def Leppard Pyromania! TSME took my call after I got back home to WA AND I got a them both from WA. A week later they're safely in my hands and awaiting my 21 year old nieces first play of them after Christmas. Whenever I'm in Rochester, I make sure to stop here to get my fix. It is HUGE. You could easily spend a long chunk of time here perusing through their collection of records. But that's not all they have. They've got CDs, movies, books, vintage clothing, posters, and lots of great "gift" type items. They even have a little bar area that serves as a venue for musicians to play. The inside is quirky and everything I love to see in a record store. I really resonate with the posters they have hanging and all the random decor they have throughout the shop. The staff is super friendly and eager to help if you're looking for something specific, which is a plus since there's so much terrain to cover. Record Archive is definitely what I'd consider a top tier record shop.

Vinyl and CDs from just about every artist on the planet. They'll even buy your old music. Wayne takes pride in the memorabilia he has on the walls and shelves, as he should! Each piece he collects has a story that's worth hearing. The walls are covered in artwork by local artists, concert posters of famous bands who performed locally, and some really fun stuff too, like a drawing by Bono that his friend gave him! Cool Beat has an awesome collection of vinyl. Both new and old and all different genres. The store is super organized and every artist/ record was easy to find. Wayne is always working on getting new music in so always check back in from time to time to find something new. He also sells cds, 45s, posters, and other retro Buffalo/ music related items. Payment terms are not clearly marked or advertised until you walk up to the "counter" and see a small sign asking you to pay via PayPal using a QR code. I don't like this at all. Get a Square and accept credit cards. I ended up paying cash and was on my way. Probably won't be back due to the payment thing unless I see it clearly marked for my convenience next time I roll by.
