Here's a place in Nashville that's not a plain old bar. It sells records and adult beverages. Four of us stopped in to have something to sip on and browse. It brought back memories as we rediscovered music from our past. Then we moved outside just to enjoy the evening and sat at the outside tables. If you're hungry, there is a food truck serving burgers in the lot as well. We didn't try that but other patrons told us that the burgers were very good. It's a great place to spend some time. I always make a point to ask the bar tender what beer I should get based on whats on tap here. There was one time I got dream burger and wasn't really feeling a beer. What could be better than a divey record bar with a great beer selection? I've been to Vinyl Tap a handful of times now, and it's always a great hang. I'm not a record collector, but my friends who are absolutely love being able to browse through what's new while sipping their brews. The service is fast and friendly, and they do a great job with a crowd! We stopped in during Music Bingo night, and while it was definitely busy, we still had our drinks in hand quickly. My favorite drink on tap right now is the PB&J Mixtape from Xul Beer Company. It's from a microbrewery in Knoxville, and I swear it tastes exactly like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. A paradigm shift in record stores that I couldn't really enjoy as much as it could be enjoyed. This is what happens when you combine neighborhood bar with record store. In a former life, I'd have worked and lived here. I don't know if there's an upstairs, but if they'd had one circa 2015, I'd have taken a job as general overseer, worked for free, and lived out my days spinning discs and being a pillar of the derelict community as the occasional train passed by just north. Maybe in the next lifetime. This lifetime, however, I got to enjoy the record store part. The collection and offerings are eclectic. I was looking for my usual quarry, the odd Third Man live pressing here or there, some used '90s alt rock, or new era soul (Durand Jones, Nathaniel Rateliff, The Heavy). Digging through the bins, I happened upon JJ Grey and Mofro's latest, grab it, and checked out. While waiting, I was delighted to see that this is a place where parents in the late 20s bring their babies...and I do not mean this as a bad thing. It's a chill vibe; the staff is helpful (juxtapose to Jack Black's character in High Fidelity; none of that elitist slacker scoffing as is endemic among mainstay holder over vinyl places run by Gen Xers) if not welcoming and hospitable, it's not too loud, and fairly secluded. A nice hideaway/ respite from the real world (queue the Cheers theme song: here). read more

Very cool vibe! Record store mixed with a bar and DJ playing vinyl. Perfect start to my first Friday night visiting Nashville. Seems like the local hang too as I chatted with a couple who lived nearby. They gave me some great options for dining over the weekend. The vibe was so chill. They do have a few food options to snack on also. My drink was very well mixed by one of the bartenders and he was sure to add a cherry (luxardo not maraschino) IYKYK. We stopped here because I saw the building and it's obvious badassery and music tie in plus it's a bar?!? Omg. I screamed in excitement (and then in protestation as we were passing it) and nearly caused my fiancé to wreck my poor little Honda. I absolutely loved everything about this place. The noms, the drinks, the beer, the atmosphere, the people, the music choice. *shivers with delight* If I lived in Nashville this would be one of my regular haunts. I didn't have a whole lot of time and only poked my head in for about 15 minutes as I was grabbing food across the street at Cafe Roze. They have two televisions for sports watching and frequently have live bands. It's a darkly lit and small bar with plenty of charm. I've been due for a return visit and updated review for some time considering I first reviewed this place 6 years ago! Very glad they survived the COVID years and are still here. I stopped in this week because I saw they were hosting a meet and greet + record signing by The Watson Twins! Well worth a visit and it was great to pick up their new record, get it signed and have the chance to speak with them. That experience alone prompted my upgrade to 5 stars, cool that they host events like this. But the upgrade is also due to just an appreciation of the whole vibe this place has going for them. The bartenders and staff are super friendly and the craft beer offerings are on point. There are also some solid cocktail choices. Not to mention records! In addition to my signed TWT album I picked up a few new and used records from my wish list, including a signed Lilly Hiatt album and a used Leonard Cohen I've wanted for some time. My old review docked them for price--and, to be honest, records here are still on the higher end of things. I'd say prices for used and new LPs seem to run 5-10% higher than at other record stores in town. But I enjoyed myself too much to hold that against them now, and to be fair they have titles I haven't seen elsewhere. After a couple of beers I was totally fine with paying a bit more to support such a cool business and to ensure other future events like this one. The DJ was playing great music the whole time, too! THIS. IS. VINYL. TAP. Hold up. A local biz that doubles as a bar and record store? Nashville, you lucky dog. I'd hang out here all the time. I think the reason Vinyl Tap succeeds is because the bar is a perfectly good bar as is and the record portion is a perfectly good record store as is. Having both enhances each experience, but one doesn't necessarily get in the way of the other to have a good time if you're not into one. Friendly staff over at the bar that recommended a great, local beer. I believe it was a milk stout and it was damn tasty. Coolest part of the concept is that you can drink beer while sifting through records!! And they even installed cupholders along the way. Genius. Great selection of new and used across all major genres, including some of the niche ones that I'm into. My only qualm? The records were packed so tightly on the shelves that it made it rather taxing to skim through. If they had a few extra shelves on hand, this problem would be eliminated. Also, the punk and metal genres were on the bottom shelf. And basically the only way to search through them are to stick your entire head into the case while close to the ground, which isn't all that fun. Now don't take this the wrong way, because they still rocked a killer selection! From the name to the staff, to the beer to the vinyl, this place boasts a chill atmosphere with cool music in a unique setting. Nashville, if you haven't been you MUST check out Vinyl Tap! read more

Enough room to hang out and a great selection of beers on tap with a food truck parked out front means you could probably just live here until your significant other drags you away East parking with a dedicated parking lot and nearby smaller neighborhoods. Across the street on one side is ice cream, another is coffee, and next to coffee is a tattoo shop. A little something for everyone on this corner. read more

If you love craft beers and great vinyl (to listen to AND purchase) then this is your spot. They have a full bar, a small menu and lots of tables to invite friends. Great craft beer selection with a bartender that will match you with the perfect pint. They will buy your used records if in good shape, or perhaps trade (don't know but hopeful). Of course, my husband couldn't help but say repeatedly "this is vinyl tap", yes play on words of course. We parked around the corner on the street without much fuss and enjoyed the short walk through the neighborhood. I tell you though it's like putting an alcoholic in a liquor store though as I always feel the need to purchase a new album each time! Damn you Vinyl Tap! My boyfriend and I got dropped off in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere, as we prepared to kill 6 hours before our departing flight back home. Turns out the middle of nowhere houses two of the best pubs/ breweries we've had the pleasure of visiting. Vinyl Taps was incredible. But I think it's a great business plan to put a record store right next to a bar. have a few drinks before you go shopping and it's almost guaranteed you buy something. From what I saw it was 80% new vinyl and then some used in the back area. I found a Beastie Boys record that I had been searching for so I walked away happy.
