We popped in before a concert during the holidays. The drink flight was fantastic. The only thing I could have wished was for more time here! The holiday decorations were fun, too
We stopped by before a show at Marathon and were able to enjoy their holiday menu with a few friends. We grabbed flights of espresso martinis which were all tasty, but in hindsight we should have gotten 2-cocktails instead. It took a moment for our drinks to come out, as they were busy, but we were able to find a table that held 5 and sit comfortably. The lights were all quite bright inside, not dimmed, which was not expected and impacted the ambiance. We would stop by again in the future, and will be sure to try something new next time.

First off in the morning, their coffee menu is what you would expect. However, they do have homemade syrups, one of which is inspired by the classic goo goo cluster. Later in the evening you can find the same, but darker, ambiance. They have great drink specials. Im not sure off the top of my head if this is an every thursday type deal but they had 1/2 off espresso martinis. And on top of that they have a whole list of espresso martinis to choose from. I got the salted caramel one, it was amazing. Id want to try the banana pudding espresso martini next.

This place is so cute and cozy, and it's tucked away from a normal crowd but not too far from my place. I've been here twice now and both times were awesome. I've taken advantage of their $5 cocktail of the week - the first time it was the Chai Me a River and the second it was Peppermint Mocha-tini. Both were fabulous! I loved the peppermint drink, and it was perfect for a late December night. I stumbled in on an open mic night and it was a pleasant experience. I love the mood lighting, the table and bar setup, and their menu. You absolutely must go - local or visitors! Support local & tip your bartenders.
I wish I would have gotten the barista/bartender's name when we were there yesterday. She was so sweet and super friendly. I called ahead since I found out they stop serving coffee at a certain time and she was so nice to explain those cutoffs. When we arrived we got to sit at the bar and chat with her. She explained the menu and some of the other events they host too. I really liked hanging out and would love to come back for cocktails. I highly recommend the Cheekwood latte though. So delicious! The decor is so cool and I loved all of the finishing touches to this space. Great place to hang or grab a drink before a show at marathon music works.
Found this gem of a place on yelp! Come to find out it just opened in October. The place is a whole mood... from the decor, the owner, the employees, the music and the great coffee. We got a cold brew and a honky tonk latte. They make the syrups in house and our drinks were delicious. I hope they bottle and sell them one day! We were only in the area for a few days and we stopped by every morning. They also had some delicious looking pasties, I believe from frothy monkey. Wish we would have had an opportunity for a cocktail. This place would be great for studying (they have WiFi) and do private events too! Definitely check it out!

Before I even get to the cocktails, here's what we loved most: * Speakeasy vibe * The bar chairs are so unique (and comfortable) * There are so many small details in the decor (ask them about the 1920s cocktail menu posted on the wall), even down to the signage in the bathrooms * This place serves coffee in the morning, then cocktails in the evening Now moving into the cocktails, you can tell there is so much love put into these recipes. In speaking to their staff, they make all their syrups from scratch... including the "goo goo" inspired syrup for those locals.. My favorite was the Espresso martini (they also have a Chai version!!). For anyone reading this and considering a classy cocktail bar tonight.. DO IT. You will not be disappointed!!

It had opened a couple of days before our group left and we just discovered it the morning of our flight -- we wish we had known about it a day earlier! Upon entering, I met the owner Mike - he was so kind and welcoming. I decided to order an iced matcha latte with oat milk, and upon his suggestion, added their house made lavender syrup. It was my favorite beverage during the whole trip! Others in my group had some of the coffee drinks and enjoyed those a lot as well. They also have an assortment of pastries brought fresh daily, including both sweet and savory options. You can really tell that Mike put so much thought and effort into this establishment. The decor is reminiscent of a cigar lounge or speakeasy, I think. I loved all the details! At the moment they're only open as a coffee shop, but their bar is scheduled to open October 12, 2023. If I ever make another trip to Nashville, I will definitely have to come back and check it out!

Ok- just WOW! Hidden GEM! Walk in and get a small, quaint, chill, speakeasy vibe! LOVE! Menu was simple but mighty- the owner was there working behind the bar! He forgot my drink- only took 10 min total to get... the banana pudding espresso martini (was phenomenal BTW- EVERY espresso martini needs cold foam on top) but he felt bad so offered to comp my next drink and my friends next drink! WHAT FREAKIN SERVICE! Some of the best drinks and friendliest staff I have had! Obsessed! This will be my new go to place!

I had no idea Grandpa Bar doubles as a coffee shop during the day, and I've been missing out. Their tiramisu latte is incredible. The staff is friendly, and the space has a cool, vibey atmosphere (everything you want in a coffee shop). It's also a great place to get work done (yes, there's free Wi-Fi), and there's plenty of street parking. Definitely a spot I'm excited to return to. read more

This is an espresso martini bar were the majority of their menu are espresso martinis. They had interesting martinis like Chai, early grey, and normal ones too. Ambiance could be better, the vibe was there, but it felt thrown together. I ordered at the bar amd they brought my drink to me which was nice, and I got my drink quickly. I'll go back when the espresso martinis call my name again. read more

Celebrated my 30th party at Grandpas bar this past weekend and I had a blast! From coordinating with Mike (owner) to the bartenders everything was perfect! Every single one of my guests enjoyed their cocktail drinks! Espresso martinis are top notch as always! The space was perfect for a group of 40! I would highly recommend grandpas bar for any special private event or just come check it out for the best espresso martini in Nashville! You won't regret it!! This is a great new addition to the North Nashville neighborhood. It is a charming day to night concept, that serves up coffee by day and craft cocktail by night. While the menu changes, the warm and cozy environment is consistent. Parking is a breeze, with plenty of street parking available. And the ambiance is on point with beautiful decor, vintage signs, and velvet bar seats. What really stands out here is the quality and personalized service. The team is focused on creating unique cocktails, while still forming relationships with the customers. I'll be back, and highly recommend it to others! read more

Warm, inviting, cool vibe, eclectic are the first things that immediately come to mind when I walk into Grandpa Bar in inside Apex Marathon Village........then WOW tasty & delicious flavor warm and sometimes wake me up once I have their killer offerings......Mike and his team have what many lack, and that's that warm, inviting culture (....and that's on both sides of the counter)..... #fatjared say...Unique, clean, intimate, an amazing experience at a brand new coffee shop in town. I use my grading criteria for every review I do, and I so not sway from it. 5 stars on Yelp is perfect, therefore you must provide a perfect experience to get 5 stars from me. Grandpa Bar is going to be a sought after place. So unique in the layout and ambience of the inside, and contrary to what so many shops do, they are staying hyper focused on what they do best. 1 roast of coffee. A medium roast that has an amazing chocolate flavor with subtle hint of hazelnut. This roast is used in all their brews (drip, espresso, and cold brew) and having tried all 3 I can attest that the flavor profile changes based on what you get. The story behind this bar is so cool, and I only know it because the owner is so friendly and personable and told us all about it at my business meeting this morning. You can have coffee in the morning and a cocktail later on all at the same place, and you can have your own small get together there as well. It's beautiful inside, and you'll have a great time when you go. 5 stars all the way!! Make the trip. It'll be worth it! read more

Vintage meets modern here at Grandpa bar. Check it out while it's still a hidden gem. Food not served here (yet) at least for the evening portion. Drinks are up to par and my favorite, a self serve water stand. Ambience is a treat and I love a comedy night. Seats are diverse. Some high tops. Some long benches. I love Grandpa's Bar! There are 2 things I look for when I go to a bar or restaurant that will make me leave a 5-star review, and that's amazing hospitality and great quality drinks or food! The team here is so kind, and you just feel like you're right at home but a cool home - Grandpa's Bar! The quality of drinks here is special because, first and foremost, they're made with love, but the ingredients and thought process while making these drinks are top-notch, and that's a major shout-out to Mike, the owner. Such an instant classic of a spot! It doesn't take long after stepping in to Grandpa's Bar, whether in the morning for coffee or the evening for a cocktail, to feel comfortable & at home. I've experienced both their morning coffee and evening offerings multiple times now, and neither have ever lacked in both taste and experience. This is a hidden gem! I am a huge coffee lover and always have to try different places while in town. I love home made syrups don't give me the bottled stuff. This place has it all. Craft coffee that has a delicious flavor and house made syrups. Would definitely recommend. The vibe is great here! Love it all. read more
