Thanks to the many positive reviews on Yelp, we found, hired and collaborated with April to help facilitate the design and renovation of our 500 square-foot condo in Waikiki. We had no idea how many decisions would be involved in a floor-to-ceiling renovation to make our penthouse a place we are proud to call home. April was the creative professional we had hoped we could find! Her enthusiasm, instincts, experience technical skills and follow through were exactly what we needed, all at a very reasonable price. We discussed priorities, then she measured our tiny home and created a design that she adjusted for us along the way, using a technology-based program that helped us understand and visualize how all the components were going to work and look together. She also developed storyboards for us to use to discuss and research color, lighting, furniture, and accessories. She recommended our bedroom furniture, which we love! She introduced us to a variety of vendors, including the construction manager, custom closet creators, lighting professionals, etc. We found local custom shoji screen craftsmen, and she readily integrated their designs into our plan. We met several times in person and online, and she was always positive and maintained her sense of humor, in the face of the pandemic and supply chain issues. She was very personable and helpful, but after postponing the final edits twice, she simply sent us an email stating she doesn't work with the GC anymore and `good luck with our project.' She didn't finish the final edits, which she was supposedly paid for, and we had to start with a new designer. So instead of being completed at the end of June to enjoy our new backyard this summer, we won't complete until the end of August. I find that incredibly unprofessional to be so close and throw us to the side without the courtesy of an explanation. read more

I was nearing the end of my remodeling and it was time to choose the colors for my walls. With 10 million colors out there, I had no clue what to do. I hired April and she came over and spent a few hours talking about the colors and going over different options with me. I had her choose all the colors which included the interior and exterior doors, the ceilings, walls for all the rooms and trims. The final result was amazing. She took her time with the color swabs and held the colors to the different flooring, cabinets, my accent brick wall and chose the best colors. Everybody walks into my house and loves the colors. Currently I am working with April on redoing a kitchen and living room, which I have never done before. I recently bought a condo and am looking to maximize the limited space I have. My wife and I needed to remodel our kitchen but we have issues: I work in SoCal and only travel to Sunnyvale every other weekend; my wife spends one week in Sunnyvale and one week in SoCal. How would we ever get the time to plan and do a remodel? We talked to other kitchen people and we found those who supply cabinets, but don't do projects; contractors who build and install your design, cabinets, and appliances, etc., but who's got a design or appliance specs when you're just starting out? So based on Yelp and Houzz reviews, we contacted April and initially hired her to do a design for us... seemed like the place we needed to start. I tell you, she was so high energy, knocking out the design and modding it on the fly so every issue we had was quickly resolved or incorporated. I couldn't believe how happy I was with her design and I was doubly-pleased she listened to us and our desires as opposed to her design preferences. Still, she didn't let us make huge mistakes! It was easy to see our choices vs her suggestions because she was so fast with her software. She completed her contract very quickly. I talked it over with my wife and we asked April to manage the entire project for us, not as a contractor, but as our representative; to interface with the contractors, the appliance people, make decisions on our behalf if we were out of the area; in short, to get us a kitchen. Turned out to be a great decision on our part. April 's energy and follow-through kept the project moving forward. She planned "shopping days" for us when we were in town, making appointments for appliances, hardware, counters, flooring, moldings and wainscots, paint, sconces and lighting, sinks and faucets, new doors, and furniture (did I tell you we folded in our dining room and entry remodels into her project as well?). She did it all and made sure we got what we wanted. When we picked floor tiles, she took pictures and the kitchen design reflected our chosen tiles. When we picked natural stone counters... scanned and in the design. Boom, done. Cabinets... she got a sample door and into the design. Same for the paint. We knew what our kitchen, dining and entry would look like... no surprises. She really earned her money, but we saved money on the project. She got us her designer discounts at most of the stores we used and she got us real cabinet discounts. Remember, we had quoted cabinets on our own prior to hiring her when we went to kitchen remodel stores that were really only cabinets sellers. So April is the reason we have a completed project today... non-stop progress, day after day, week after week. I don't write a lot of Yelp reviews, but that's how we found her and believe me, she earned it. read more

April is a God send. Our clinic spent two weeks trying to figure out the color for our walls. She came in and was able to come up with colors to our liking within a half an hour. She then was able to fulfill our need of an office that required dual function. One being a full functioning clinic and the other being a movement therapy studio.
