However we're from NYC and the 2 hr. drive is daunting. After my appointment I learned there is an app where you can book and earn rewards. There were positive vibes all around, engaging conversation...one of the barbers even recommended a local pizza shop that just opened in downtown bpt. *The Cut: Of course, every barber is different however, I have confidence that whoever's chair you're in you will leave satisfied. I asked for a tape up and small design with Victor and I am satisfied. To note, all the barbers seem to be skilled; they will ask what you're looking for and even details. Walk into this place for the first time and you automatically feel at home welcome where all the barbers greet you. It's like the show Cheers but in a barbershop setting. It's a no frills barbershop but then, what else would you expect but great service with an amazing attitude and dedication to their craft. Everyone seems to work in harmony like a band of brothers that you can't help but get drawn into the conversation. The Cut? They are so meticulous like a glass blower inspecting his or her craft. Vic runs a great shop with master barbers great at cutting all types of hair. The vibe in the shop is professional but also laid back with music and TV for entertainment and light conversations all throughout. It's super clean as each barber takes turns cleaning the hair clippings between cuts and wiping down the area to look pristine for the next customer to sit in the chair. Bryan DeJesus has been my barber since I moved to CT in 2016. Bryan always pays close attention to the customer requests and is precise in his work and can cut any type of hair: Black, White, Asian, Latinx etc. Bryan is also good about pausing to ensure the customer is getting the haircut they want and can give good recommendations to new customers who may not know exactly the look they're going for with a consultative approach. Can't say enough great things about my experiences at VIP and to see how Vic has handled the impact of COVID-19 has given me even more confidence that this is place i need to be going to for cuts. They've got partitions between every customer and chair, each barber is wearing their masks (they have extra masks if customers need), and they check your temperature upon entry to the shop - which for me shows the right level of due diligence toward keeping everyone healthy. read more

Excellent. I stopped by here to get all of my hairs cut before my wedding at the beginning of July and I can't say enough great things about the staff over at VIP. I even recommended them to a couple of guys who were coming in from out of town. The only thing I guess you could complain about, if anything, was the front door. You have to be "buzzed" in which I thought was weird but I guess the neighborhood can be a little rough from time to time. Friendly staff. Quick service. Affordable prices. Cash only. I'm the kind of person that's been going to the same barber in my neighborhood since my first haircut. After moving cities to southern CT, I've been researching barbershops and been consistently disappointed with most places I've visited. After reading the positive reviews, I decided to try VIP barbershop and made an appointment with Vic after work. I am so glad I did. Vic was an absolute professional. Got an excellent side part, exceeding my expectations. Vic also used a air pressurizer to blow away the hair clippings. It was the first time in my life I didn't need to shower right after a cut. Came in with 4 other groomsmen for a hot towel shave before a wedding. Made appointments via phone. The shave was great and very relaxing. The price advertised on their website is $20. When we went to pay, one of the barbers said "charge them forty". They then had a conversation in Spanish and said it was forty dollars. When we asked why we were being charged double, they said there was a $20 fee for appointments. We didn't argue or make a scene, just paid the $40 and left. Their website includes online booking, where you can make an appointment. Using online booking, it lists a hot towel shave as $20. Again the shave was great and all the barbers were friendly and professional, but we were clearly taken advantage of. I don't regret going but I would an unlikely to return. read more

Let me start off by saying that I'm not a huge haircut person. I never really had a solid place I went to often for a haircut, but after my first visit to VIP, I think I found it. I walked in and i didn't even sit down yet and I was up. Carlos was my barber and he was awesome. Very easy to work with and easy to talk to. I searched for someone local to Trumbull and fell upon VIP. I decided to take a chance. I have curly hair and like it to be curly, as does my wife. I was pleasantly surprised to find VIP and in particular Robert. He gave me a cut every bit as good as the "stylist". This place is old school.
