Not only was the cut flattering and the coloring deep and rich, my hair was light and smooth and strong The Hair Doctor rinsed my hair 5 times with different treatments to super moisturize my hair again. It restored the natural oils that had lost. I bought her shampoo and conditioner and an oil to add just one drop of after future washes. I am very very happy. I went there to get my hair (shoulder length). and Julia did not nkow what She was doing. She also said that is be 30 min job and it 55 min. Make Me miss my bus to Mexico. She gave Me a GROCERY BAG to cover my hair. I and umbrella with and shower cover on my car. THE CURLS LASTED 2 hrs only. I spent $70 plus the bus fare because I lost the bus for nothin. The place is amazing love the atmosphere ms .h was wonderful enjoyed talking to her. But my issue was no price for cuts were in site I was sent by a buddy of mine since I moved down here. The cutz are pricey and so is the the products I came here expecting to spend 25$ on a hair cut cause that's what I was told it would be walked out paying a little over 50$ for it and I mean the products are abit pricey too i didn't want to say no thinking maybe 20$ at most but was wrong again. I did get nicked a few in the back but overall it was a good experience just really pricey dont mean to be negative but people here at vip know what there doing. Best Hair salon ever... It's family owned and family operated. Owners are amazing, Dr. H does my hair and she is the best!!

I came for a hair cut after being referred by a friend who raved about the work and prices. After my simple haircut I was charged $125. I was not informed that I was also going to be charged $35 to straighten my "extra long" hair even though I just got 6 inches cut off to my shoulders. If that was the case I could've went home and done that myself for free. I talked to the friend after I walked out because I felt ripped off and she informed me that the same service only cost her $40 and that when her and her boyfriend went they spent $100 total and even got a relaxer. I believe they make the prices up as they go and make it different for every client. Highly not impressed and would not recommend for that reason alone. I am so grateful for VIP my mom had eye surgery and needed extra care, patience and a very clean salon to have her hair, wash, style and trim. Looking for a Clean salon following all the Covid regulations required by Texas, is hard to find in Harlingen/ RGV. We drive from McAllen and Dr. Haggins was awesome. Her professionalism and high standards was exactly what I was looking for! We made an appointment. Upon arrival we had our temp taken, everyone was wearing a N95 mask. Her products were amazing and paraben free. This is an upscale salon, having traveled all over the world, this a fantastic spot, much better then the JCP Salon so many people think that's upscale here. If you are looking for a quick cheap do then don't come here go to a dirty salon down the street there are so many places here that are not up to code. I've tried different hair salons in the valley since moving here from NYC, but VIP has definitely been the best experience!!

I am not one who normally would take the time to write a review, however, the reason I went to this salon was the reviews were good. I was greeted by the owner's wife at the door she took me by the hand and treated me like I was her first cousin she'd not seen in awhile. When she finally stopped yapping I explained I needed my roots touched up and a haircut. She, the salon owner's wife told me she had her own line of products, VIP WoW! Her products were "natural" ingredients and she said the color she was going to prepare to match my medium blonde hair was A++! Obviously, her concocted ingredients for coloring hair is a waste of time and money. The color lasted about as long as the entire process took! I arrived at 5:45 p.m. and at 9:00 p.m I walked out the door after being charged $363.00! I was charged $175.00 for cut and root touch up, $40 for the 2 min.'s-4 passes made with a straightening iron on my short hair. Products, her concocted, 3 oz. bottle of WoW shampoo $46.00, 3 oz. bottle of Wow conditioner $46, 3 oz. bottle of some kind of WoW water spray $45 and I didn't ask to buy I was told I had to buy! I found that the 3 costly products were no different than the 4 oz. bottle of SUAVE products that cost $1.00 each! We recently moved here from the northeast and I had the same stylist for seven years, so I was a little nervous. I asked for someone experienced in short styles and was lucky to get Mrs. "H". I showed her some pictures I had printed off the internet, we talked about the pros and cons of each style vs. my hair and then she dived right in. She took a lot of time shaping the back and sides and then did a great job on the top. She found all of my cowlicks and dealt with them! I walked out an hour later feeling much prettier than when I went in. I'll be back in five weeks! read more

This salon is definitely a one of a kind. I received A cut, color and highlights. My hair is very fine and was damaged. They gave me the vip treatment and more, Management is hands on, I couldn't have been happier with the entire experience. Came in with a friend did not love how our hair came out hers came out orange and way off of what she wanted through almost a 4 hour process in total and mine look like a brassy color will never come for this service again there very pushy to sell the expensive products that don't even have returns when they usually have 30 days even if product is used ,now we need to find someone to fix our hair which was way too expensive for what we did not even want !!! read more

BUT...I am absolutely compelled to leave one for VIP. I know you don't me so let me just say that I was at WIT'S END with my hair. I went from one bad haircut to the next, only to have each one worse than the last. Tears, embarrassment and just a general feeling of ugly. Then the anxiousness of finding another new stylist who would do who knows what with my already messy mess of a 'do'. Til now. I got the very best absolutely perfect love love love it cut at VIP!! AND, everybody there, EVERY SINGLE ONE, made me feel like royalty and helped me feel gorgeous. From the warm welcome, as a walk-in!, to bottled water, to pampering, to actually teaching you about your own hair and how to care for it and how to style it based on your hair's natural ways (I've had my hair over 40 years and just now learned why it does what it does)...you have no idea how truly awesome this salon is. I am so truly happy. Like I said, chances are you don't know me, but chances are you're looking for a stylist since you're reading my review. The customer service from everyone besides a woman named Wanda was great. I got a full wax service from her and she absolutely destroyed my skin. Kept saying my hair was too thick, clearly she only knows how to handle white people hair - she kept mentioning that she was from Indiana and would "do this all the time" despite not being the full time esthetician. She also took forever and did an absolutely terrible job. I will have to go somewhere else to get this mess cleaned up once my huge swollen skin goes down. This is ridiculous and she was far less than professional. I could not believe that she couldn't handle my hair or figure out how to remove it. Now, $111 and nearly 1.5 hours later I still have a messy situation that is raw and red and painful. My skin has never reacted to a wax like this! Do not waste your money getting a wax here. They are unclear with prices and you pay the price for them taking forever and not understanding thick hair. Their hair services were much more pleasant. I got a quick haircut that looks great from the very friendly staff. Definitely recommend their hair products and services but I am leaving this terrible review because of the awful and expensive wax I got! I am literally sitting in an ice bath as I type this due to the tremendous pain I am in. read more

These people charge a fortune and so not worth it. I didn't even pay this much in Dallas. Linda said she had been cutting hair for over 30 years but I got home and one of my sides was longer than the other. I had to go to a hair place today to have someone fix it. She does not know how to dry hair professionally at all. Maybe they can do shaves and little boys hair but I am VERY sorry I spent my money and time there. I was new in the area, decided to get my hair done here. I should of followed my instinct the moment I walked in. I was there for 8 hrs, getting highlights, treatment, and a hair cut. Was VERY upset at how my hair turned out. The lady decided to go with a color that matched with my skin tone, you would think that me being the customer I would get what I asked for. Even more upset at how much the lady charged me! $490!!!!! My sister got a hair cut and was charged $73. It was unbelievable! Not a happy camper. We will NEVER return to the salon!
