We have been staying at the lovely 2-bedroom cottage at the Campground for many years. The proprietors Rick and Trish have added upgrades each year that have made our stay even more comfortable and enjoyable. The cottage can easily accommodate a family or 2 couples. Its location away from the main camp sites offers plenty of privacy, yet it's within easy walking distance to the lake. You can even see the sunset from the living room window. We absolutely loved this campsite. We were in the tent camping section. Our campsite was very spacious and private. We even had a little view of the lake! It was very pretty and very comfortable. We were close to the restrooms as well. We were very happy to see that they toilets flushed! The lake was gorgeous. The beach was a little rough with the stones in the water, but that's not something that was controllable. The sunset was amazing!! I think we will be back!! read more

We enjoyed our stay. We shared a wooded campsite in two separate tents . This was very scenic and was comparable to a state park. The bathrooms were well kept. The walk to the lake is short as well. Not a huge beach area but there was enough sand to place our towels. In the early evening, we enjoyed the sunset . It was beautiful. Overall, we agreed, for the price, we probably would not return. We would rather go to a state park or a campground with more amenities. Nothing negative to say about the campground itself, just price. read more

I read a lot of the reviews before staying here. I must say I was nervous about our stay but it ended up being awesome! And the GUY was very friendly and not over bearing at all...$160 a night for a cabin with full amenities is cheap! And it's right on the lake ! There was 11 of us and we had two cabins and they were clean inside and out. I think maybe some of the unsatisfied ppl that gave a nasty review were in the wrong and or caught the guy on a bad day?? My family has been staying at Virginia's Beach numerous times every summer since 2011. It used to be our hidden gem. We looked forward to coming every year. We started out in the wooded tent area which was always private and relaxing. We then started staying in the lake front cabins which we loved even for the price. We never had much interaction with the owners or anyone else for that matter. We kept to ourselves and enjoyed our weekend. In 2019 we rented a cabin as usual. When we arrived our cabin was a disaster. It hadn't been cleaned and there were numerous things broken. Even light fixtures falling off the wall with exposed wiring. We alerted the office and told them we were running to town quickly and would be back since they were unable to repair it at that moment. While gone the office called to let me know they were going to fix the issues and it would take awhile. We told them we would like for them to wait for us to return because we did not feel comfortable with all our belongings inside with workers repairing things. The male owner was completely nasty about the entire situation. He then refused to fix anything and refused us our money back. We decided we would never be back. Paying $160 for a cabin that was not only filthy but a hazard to our children wasn't worth it. Fast forward to 2021 and we decided to give it another shot. We arrived Monday to check into our cabin at approx 230. Started unloading our belongings to find the cabin full of tools and things being worked on all through the cabin. We are like, oh no here we go again. Just then men entered the cabin with out even knocking telling us we shouldn't be there, one being the owner. I'm like I'm sorry we were allowed to check in. He said well you checked in early and she shouldn't have checked you in. I stood there in disbelief of the tone he was getting with me. He kept going on and on like it was our fault. Then he said we needed to remove our belongings and leave until he was finished and then also wait for the cleaning crew. He didn't know how long it would be. And being that it was literally almost 3 they had no intentions of delivery us the cabin on time anyway. He made the comment that it wasn't that big of an inconvenience over and over. My husband replied that yeah it kind of is. I should mention it was raining and we had literally no where to go. He started yelling that we needed to just leave and I said well then I want my money back and he said good leave. I stood there in disbelief because yet another trip ruined for my kids. He sped away on his golf cart. We packed the van back up and sat there wondering what the hell we were supposed to do now. Because obviously in his eyes as the guest we were at fault. He then flew up to the van window on his golf cart and was like well so what are you doing. My husband replied "we don't know yet". The owner then yelled " well you have wasted the last 15 minutes crying". My husband yelled whose crying. Now he was pissed. The owner was yelling that I was attacking him in the cabin when I literally stood there in disbelief that he would treat a guest this way. The owner proceeded to get into my husbands face to fight him. I have never in my life dealt with such an asshole. He treats his guests like garbage. He should have apologized and been extremely accommodating for the inconvenience instead of blaming us for checking in 20 mins early when we were allowed to by his wife. If you have ever had an encounter with this man you know how rude a belittling he is to his guests. We luckily got a refund but ended up with no where to go. They ruined our getaway and thoroughly upset my children for yelling at their parents and trying to fight their dad!!! I will never be back here and I will make sure I let everyone know that unless they want verbally and almost physically assaulted by the owner this is not the place for them. This man needs put in a straight jacket. He has zero business running a campground!!!! read more

Our view was beautiful. We were originally booked in the lake front spots but when we got there we decided to stay longer and moved back to "lake view" which was still awesome. Maybe actually better because we had shade. The rules said quiet time was at 11pm and no fire after 1am which we followed but on Saturday night of our Wednesday to Sunday stay there was a live band that played way later than 11pm. That was kind of frustrating. The showers were not great for the price to stay and the water pressure was low in our camper without filling the tanks. We would stay here again for sure for the view though. The beach was rocky and water was cold but not their fault on that. The water was crystal clear! read more

Our multi-generational family is traveling cross-country. My mother made this reservation eight days prior to our arrival speaking with a lovely, polite woman. My mom informed the campground by email that we were traveling from Iowa that day and would be arriving late. She received a confirmation email which included our campsite number. Sounds perfect, right? We drove through quaint country, oohing and ahhing over lightening bugs and other cute wildlife arriving at a gate. Hmmm, no mention of a gate in our email. No code to open it either. We rang the buzzer and waited while the last rays of light disappeared and we scoured our emails for codes. No luck. So yes, with tired kids, I went around the bar at 5 mph and found our campsite after returning to check the posted map a second time. Now dark, we were considering where to set up our tent when a man drove up at rapid speed on an ATV, spoke aggressively to my mother, scared my exhausted children so badly they cried, refused to even look at our confirmation and told us we had to leave. He also told us his wife would divorce him over us being there, and said we were like thieves. A second man also arrived, while his was not rude, he was obviously not in charge. My mom's credit card was charged days ago, so we had pre-paid for the site. The final result was satisfactory to us as our fees were refunded, however, if late arrivals are not allowed, they should have replied to our email by letting us know that. I can not recommend this site. And that makes me sad, because on day 8 of our 28 day west coast to east coast and back trip, this is the first poor encounter we have had. read more

The reviews for this campground are all over the place depending on what the reviewer chooses to focus on, usually revolving around what they think of the "beach". Getting to Virginia's Beach Campground will take you through some scenic and rural parts of Pennsylvania. The gravel road completes the isolation and, if you are fortunate, you will have a campsite with a commanding view of Lake Erie. It is a short walk to the shoreline, but if you are looking for a place to set out your beach chair, this is probably not what you are looking for. OTOH, if you set out your chairs around your fire ring and get comfortable while you watch the sunset, you are going to have a nice evening. The grounds were pretty with a small catch/release pond for your kids to fish. The store was a bit spartan. Overall, the view of the lake and sunset alone was worth the price of admission. read more

He would check on us much more than needed, borderline stalking. He treated us as if we were his own children. We rented the 2 bedroom cottage. It was outside their gate so we had to get a key which had a $10 deposit. If your looking to go to the rocky beach it is 600 feet away but the sandy one you'll be driving too. The cottage floor was dirty and there was no mop to clean it. It also smelled. The bed was so hard we bought a mattress pad just so we could sleep on it. The store has almost nothing in it so you'll e driving to get any thing you may have forgotten. It's also a 20-30 minute drive back up to downtown Erie. I'm not sure if it was the owners or other camper that tried to clean up the beach some after the water went down. It was 2.5 feet high. The road going back to the campground was dirt. I know it rained a good bit but would it hurt to get some gravel to fill the pot holes. Needless to say that was our first and last time staying here. read more

Absolutely horrible place. First, most unfriendly owner on the planet. He never introduced himself. He mumble multiple times, speed limit is 5 miles. After 24 hours, I think most if the kids would like the excitement of being hit. Cleanliness, I don't think the owners know where to follow nod soap sx the restrooms were dirty and smelled like locker room socks. One running toilet and three showered for 50 or more sites. The so called lake front, beautiful view(really)! However, the shore was all rock, no sand. The person family left three days early as the kids had absolutely. Nothing to do. We left. Nope!!! I wish I would have read the reviews first. This is the most unwelcoming place I've ever stayed. It is overpriced and there is absolutely nothing near by. We were accused of having a dog in their cabin. We have dogs, but we paid to have them stay in a kennel back in WV. They lied and said they were getting reports from other campers that we had a dog. Then the man rudely told us, "If I find out you have a dog I will be very offended!" What actually happened was, my husband had to walk a distance away from the cabin, because there is hardly any service, to call the office and get the wifi password (which we were not provided with at check in) and a woman was walking her barking dog nearby! The general attitude of the staff is unpleasant and they make you feel like an inconvenience. The cabin was filthy! There was food left in the mini fridge from previous occupants. There was a ring on the inside of the toilet. This is a very overpriced cabin and it is not located near anything. The beach area is crowded with drift wood and is unkempt. I was very disappointed in this campground and I advise you to read ALL negative reviews before booking a stay! read more

worst campground experience I have ever had. the owners are so rude and un welcoming. very unprofessional. the bathrooms are disgusting. we two days early due to not wanting to bath our children yet another night in a cold water, filthy shower. don't waste your time or money this place was better when it was owned by the previous people years ago.
