It was a busy night and we were a bigger group, but we were still able to grab a table. Just a heads up, there isn't a ton of seating for bigger groups, so we felt lucky to find a spot! There were only one or two servers working, so we were ready to be patient and expect a wait, but they were so quick! I was impressed with their service. I also loved that you can try smaller tasters of their beers before committing to a full one. I had a taster of their raspberry hibiscus saison and a refreshing lager. First came here for omaha beer week. They have an amazing selection on tap! They even have amazing alcoholic slushies for the summers We've come back several times throughout the years, and Vis Major never disappoints! What has actually become my favorite here? The pizzas! Stopped by Vis Major and was pleasantly surprised! We ordered the pepperoni pizza but swapped out the regular sauce for beer cheese--and wow, highly recommend doing that. It was rich, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the crispy crust. They also had a fun Halloween-themed cocktail menu, which totally added to the vibe. This was a super fun stop during restaurant week! Again this place is super close to my house but I've never stopped in before. I did the restaurant week special and got the truffle popcorn (which I'm still thinking about), one of the pesto vegan pizzas (add sausage), and the apple dessert. I was super happy with the vegan pizzas (I'm not even vegan), and the crust. I tried a few beers and was able to find an IPA that really hit the spot. Went for the first time this week for their book club. Turns out us nerds like to eat and drink too. Such a cute establishment. We ordered the snack mix, which fell a little flat and tasted like it came straight from a giant Sam's Club jar, and the Goonie Crab Rangoon Pizza. A group of 6 of us came in around 7pm and we were easily able to snag a table. The staff was very attentive and got our drink and food orders taken. I didn't get many pictures. I had The Goonie which was really good with a cream cheese base, crab meat, and sweet chili sauce. Came here for the beer, and enjoyed the New England IPA (Tis this be Treason). Wasn't a huge fan of their version of a Belgian Tripel, but I won't hold that against them, that's a tough one to nail it seems. I would definitely come here more if they offered a good happy hour. Food was typical bar food, just something to munch on while having a beer, I went with chicken nachos and they did the job. Inside is a cool space, with a really well done bar, and even some seating that looks out onto the street. Also has some tables available for seating. I went to Vis Major on a Friday evening for a beer. All of their options looked so good that I had to get a flight. I was able to try the gose, a dark IPA, a Mexican lager, and a sour that had edible glitter in it. The staff at the bar were very friendly and were able to recommend some of their more popular beers on tap. There's a lot of seating at the bar or at other tables and there seems to be a lot of cool events like trivia going on weekly. read more

Vis Major has quickly become a regular date night option. The food is incredible and the rotating special pizzas keep the menu fresh. Our favorites are the truffle popcorn ($4!!) and the crab rangoon pizza. We've tried about every pizza there though, and I have 0 complaints about anything. It's a brewery so I can't miss commenting on their beer as well. I'm a huge sour fan and don't love hoppy, heavy beers but my husband is the opposite and and they usually have a few options for both of us. The watermelon sour is one of my favorite there's and is a must visit while it's in their rotation. It's such a cute place, and though small, you just have to time your visit right. If you get there and there isn't a spot right away, the friendly staff helps make sure you get a spot in the order of who was waiting first. read more

The place is super comfortable. It is clean. The beer is never a hit with me. They always have a very good variety but I don't love it. I want to, but I don't. For this visit, we tried the pizza because so many friends talk it up. Again, not a super hit. We ordered the pizza of the month, which had marinara, olive salad, salami, Capicola, mozzarella, and tomatoes. The crust was good. The pizza was lukewarm. The toppings were just right in terms of quantity. They get credit for creativity with their specialty pizzas, that's for sure. This was another place I've been meaning to try ever since I've moved back to Omaha and with the nudge from my aunt, we both went and were very pleased with our visit. We actually attempted to go previously, but we didn't pay attention to their hours and had to go a different day. This is one of those places that I like to call it nice and quaint. I will start off with the bad first. It really wasn't that busy, and it did take time for someone to recognize us and for us to be served. But it did give us time to see what we wanted, so it was something that I can overlook. I did like it that it was nice and quiet. It was a nice place to chill at. I started off with the surprisingly good Almighty Imperial Stout (see my pic) that comes with a big, toasted marshmallow. And then I followed that up with an even slightly better choice of Elder's Cup, which is a spiced herb beer. My aunt ordered a pepperoni pizza (see my pic) which i tried and really enjoyed. Vis Major is another of Omaha's fantastic breweries tucked away in Hanscom Park/Field Club. They were a pretty popular place, even on a Sunday evening, so I can't imagine how popular it is on a Friday or Saturday night. However, the bartenders and servers are very attentive and kind. The service is always great, and their pizza is outstanding. Im not a fan of a chunk of their beers, (nothing wrong with them, they're well brewed, just not styles I enjoy, but as a Cicerone I can give them credit where it is due). An absolute MUST! They typically have a specialty pizza of the month. I visited in October and was able to experience the dill pickle pizza- topped with bacon. It was so good and the crust was unlike any other. I will be looking out for it! Extra points if you go during the night market and visit Sheelytown across the street. Friendly staff and cool finishes... check. High chairs and games... check. Maybe this place isn't totally a "family destination" but it's about as family friendly as a bar can be. And you can tell that Vis Major follows the trend of catering to individuals - like myself - the may want to enjoy some classy local beers while feeding delicious non-chain pizza to our young kids. That wasn't our situation tonight specifically but I certainly could see it being so in the future. Tonight we pretended we were in our 20's again and sat at the bar while instagramming our tasting flights of ALL THE BEERS. Some of which I can honestly say I've never had the like of. And that's saying something as I have tried no less thn 377 unique beers. The Ember to Ash and the Tropicrush were totally unreal. On the mission to find the best Crab Rangoon pizza in Omaha. First stop, Vis Major. The bartender/staff. Friendly, helpful, and great with suggestions. The crab Rangoon pizza was very tasty. The sauce was a little heavy but flavorful. The cheese was nice and gooey. A nice drizzle of sweet chili sauce and nice crispy wontons. The Michelada unfortunately had some excess foaming issues and I had to ask for another drink due to the salt on the rim sinking into the drink and making it unpalatable. But the bartender understood and comped the ticket. And they have slushies! The Irish Crème slush was incredible! Definitely will be back for more of that! They run monthly specials for pizza. The party room can hold up to thirty standing and about 20 seated with a $400 minimum food tab on the weekend and $300 during the week as of todays date but can change at any time. Good location.
