Maybe the office staff has changed since these other awful reviews because my appt was 2/2/26 and everyone was amazing! I did the advance check-in paperwork which was super easy. Uploaded all my insurance cards and ID. By the time I got to the office, it was easy breezy and the front desk staff was super nice. Burgandy did the advance tests and was also super nice! Dr. Feil did some more tests and explained what was happening in my eyes in simple, easy to understand terms. He is very thorough! Since I'm a Medicare insurance agent, I have spoken to hundreds of clients over the years about cataract surgery and how they felt pressured to pay extra for laser and upgraded lens. We had nice convo about cataract surgery where he freely shared his thoughts about the different options. Everyone made me feel very welcomed! I felt like I had been going there for years. Was there waiting time, in between tests? Yes. But nothing out of the ordinary. I don't mind at all and even relish the quiet moments. Overall, I woud totally recommend Dr. Feil! read more

The optometrists are great at this facility. I've never had an issue with this part of the facility. I even switched insurances in order to be accepted there. However, I'm not very pleased with the optical department. This was the first time I used them in order for coverage of my glasses. The staff there were not very friendly and made me feel as if I were a bother when I went in to order my glasses. When I went in to pick up my glasses, the girl didn't even try to adjust them. She just handed them to me. I told her they were a bit loose. She didn't even try them on me to adjust them. I'll not go there again for glasses. Costco is so much better as far as friendliness and assistance. read more

The Visalia Eye Center is the very best clinic that I have seen. They are all so very professional and yet friendly. I had cataracts in both eyes and thus two surgeries and in both I felt the greatest of care and felt as is I was the only patient they had. I was handled with respect and treated like a guest. My only regret is that I only had two eyes that needed surgery. I would have easily gone back for a third. They have my trust because they earned it. read more

If you like being charged for services you never get! This is the place to go! These people are SO quick to try and send you to collections even when THEY were the ones who canceled my appointment due to covid. During covid, before they even opened back up, I was getting letters threatening to send me to collections on a service that was never started, or completed. I have been a patient of Dr. Oblad and now of Dr. Stan Fiel. Here is my review of my recent lasik procedure. I had my 1 week post op visit and my vision is better than 20/20 (it's actually 20/15) and I was able to see pretty clear the same day if the surgery. I was near sighted so I no longer need glasses. I was told that eventually we all will need reading glasses but this is to be expected around my 50's. I will suggest you take the medications the offer you before surgery as I elected to not take it (because I wasn't nervous so i didn't think I needed them). If you don't, you will be pretty miserable like I was for the hours following if I would have known that it's best to go to sleep after the surgery I would have taken the medication to at least help me sleep and skip being awake and in pain. Brightness was a big issue for me even with the dark glasses but it's gotten better with every day that passes. My eyes were red the days following and even 1 week post op I can still see some but nothing super noticeable. They did let me know ahead of time that this was to be expected. The procedure itself was not painful at all and lasted about 15 minutes total. It was uncomfortable having to keep your eyes open in bright lights but nothing that was too much for me to hear. And for the ladies, you will need to go a WHOLE WEEK without makeup but if you're a natural beauty you'll be fine. I am not so this is one thing I disliked about this lol Before this, I had been asking my Dr. Oblad when I could consider lasik and it took 2 years of my prescription remaining the same before he pulled the trigger. I was referred over to the surgery side of the building and saw Dr. Stan Feil. I would definitely recommend. And if you have VSP for your eye insurance, depending on your plan, you get a 15% discount on the procedure read more

This review is only for the Surgery Center portion of Visalia Eye Center. This is another classic situation where the lead people (in this case the doctors) are excellent, but the staff is brings them down. The Surgery Center staff contacted my insurance company for approval, which I expected they would do. When there was some confusion on my part regarding one aspect of the approval, I contacted the insurance company, but still was not clear. I asked the Surgery Center staff to help me clarify it, but they refused to assist. The rather lame excuse by one was that she did not to be liable for a mistake. I even had problem with her placing a prescription for me, so her comment was consistent with my experience with her. Her Supervisor took the same approach. Reflecting on the all the interactions that I have had with doctors and insurance companies for me, my mother, and my brother, there has not been one case where the medical staff said, "You figure it out." In the world of medical procedures and insurance there is a reason the medical staff handles the insurance. It is a world of codes, exclusions, and alternatives. Anyway, I cancelled the procedure because I lost confidence in the staff. The doctors at Visalia Eye Center are among the best in the area. read more

Looks like a fairly large practice but it took 2 hours for a diabetic eye exam.....sheesh.

I am giving two stars because of the eye glass ordering/fitting staff. The doctors are great and so is the "nurse" who assists in the room with him. But the ones up front that you order from and do the fitting with are rude, waste your time and act as though they are doing you a favor and are in no hurry whatsoever. Very disappointed in them, it's a shame the doctors can't see this and change the girls attitudes, and they aren't that young. read more

Do people in Visalia use Yelp? There are never enough reviews to really be helpful in this city. I'm review my LASIK procedure in hopes that it will one day help someone else. I initially had a surgery appointment to get my LASIK in Orange County, but it seemed like such a hassle. A few people mentioned some Fresno LASIK places, but several co-workers mentioned Visalia Eye Center. Step 1: Consultation with Dr. Feil. He is very nice and professional. His staff will do a few tests and then he will come in and speak with you and answer any questions. This first appointment will be where you find out if you are a candidate for the procedure. I think some people have corneas that are too thin or something science-y like that. Step 2: Full eye exam with eye dilation. OK, so here is the more difficult part. Before you get the full eye exam, they want you to be out of your contacts for two weeks. For some very blind people, like I was, wearing glasses for two weeks is a big pain in the ass. But its worth it. So wear your glasses for two weeks, go in for the exam, and Dr. Feil will look at your dilated eyes to make sure there aren't any issues. No issues? Then time to schedule the LASIK! They usually do the surgery on Wednesdays and you will have a follow up appointment the day after. So, you'll need to be out of your contacts for 5 days prior to the surgery. A couple days before the surgery, you will go to a pre-op appointment. You'll get a couple different eye drops to put in the night before surgery. Step 3: LASIK day. If you want, they will give you a Valium to help you relax. I didn't feel like it did anything, so it must be a really low dose. The procedure went by SO fast. The first machine creates a suction on your eye and that is when the cornea flap is created-- for me, this was the uncomfortable part. Not the cutting part, because you won't feel like at all (numbing eye drops). The suction part creates a lot of pressure, and for me that was the most uncomfortable thing. I really didn't feel anything else during the procedure. After that, they swivel you to the other machine that actually does the LASIK, which also is very quick. There is a smell that I truly can't describe, but you will feel nothing. Afterward-- I went home and laid down in a dark room and listen to podcasts for several hours. My eyes burned and watered a little, but that was it. By about 6 pm the day of surgery, I was fine. Oh, you have to wear funny goggles to bed for about a week to make sure you don't rub your eyes. But that is a small price to pay. I had LASIK done 2 weeks ago after wearing contacts for 18 years. My vision is perfect now. If you are thinking about getting it done, just do it. Don't put it off. I wish I had done it sooner. read more

My mom passed away and I was in the process of taking care of things, as my Dad will be moving in with us in Moreno Valley, down South. Last night my son hugged me to tight and my frames were bend. Called to see if they could help and they said, come at your convenience. Saw Tamara and she was able to fix my glasses perfectly. I'm not a patient, and she was very helpful with my glasses so I can now see. To my surprise there was no charge. Thank you for your kindness and doing a great job on my glasses. read more

Well, this morning I had my annual eye appointment with the best Optometrist around, Dr. Oblad. He is compassionate, friendly, kind, funny when appropriate but most of all thorough. It's always a pleasure to look forward to my appointment with him. My complaint does not concern him and I would give the clinic only 3 stars because those who assist, never introduce themselves. Ex: "Hello, I'm so-n-so and I'll take you back to a room." In my fair opinion, it's a lovely way to begin one's eye journey. But alas, I've mentioned this in the past, and yet, no change. Of course it's not only for me, but it's a comfort to most, to know in whose gentle hands your appointment has been handed. Now, everyone was sweet and pleasant and I was able to ascertain Dr. Oblad's assistant's name at the end. So thank you Miss Britney! The 5 star evaluation is due to the doc (Dr. Oblad) who tolerates my jokes and agrees when I tell him I'm his favorite patient! Right? read more

I had my lasik done here 3 days ago and I'm glad I didn't go anywhere else. Dr. Feil and his staff are awesome, the day of the procedure I was super nervous, they explain everything step by step and made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. The next day I woke up and my vision was 20/20! Feels great not to have to wear glasses anymore just wish I had done it sooner. Very rude lady named Flo that helped me. She brought me back and seemed to have other things on her mind. Was very short with me and snapped at me for asking a question.
