Got my eye exam and prescriptions on Sept. 18, 2025. I preferred to use my favorite frames and all Serrins had to do was the lenses. Three weeks later when I received my glasses, they didn't fit my vision and Serrins had to re-do. Another three weeks passed and when I tried my eyeglasses, they still didn't fit my vision, in fact, the lenses got worse! Another 3 weeks went by and I finally called Serrins about my eyeglasses, to which the staff said that it was delivered to the wrong lab and that they're going to send it back to the correct lab. Frustrated, I decided to retrieve my frame back and go somewhere else where they know what they're doing! Overall, there were 2.5 months without my glasses! Unacceptable! (Granted, Serrins have some friendly staff in the office, I would NOT recommend them based on my personal experience.) read more

You can NEVER reach a live person. When you call you get an answering machine followed by an automated text message. They do not return phone calls. Very disappointing since we just switched to the optometrist recently based on a recommendation. We will be looking for another optometrist. read more

This place used to be amazing, but now you can't get through to anyone. I had to call for weeks to get a callback last year but assumed things would get better. Same thing this year and when they finally called back, couldn't get us in for over a month. We have to find another office since we can't get in. Don't return phone calls. The minute you call you get a text I left the message and on a recording machine never returned a phone call this is the third time over months apart for different things if you want an appointment go somewhere else. read more

I found Serrins Valley Vision while googling for a new optometrist. I called a few times and never got through while calling. I finally left a message the last time calling, and I did receive a call back. I made an appointment and was happy to finally have an appointment scheduled. Life happens and I had a work trip pop up, and I needed to reschedule. I have called at least 6 times over the last 2 weeks during business hours, and nobody has ever picked up. I have left 3 messages and nobody has returned my calls. Every time I receive a text from the business asking how they can help. I have responded to those texts and I have never received a response. What poor management. I'm going to make an appointment somewhere else as it's obvious they have problems. I have enough of my own problems. I don't need to deal with any of theirs. read more

I wouldn't recommend!! My husband and I are new to Visalia. We both wear glasses & contacts. We were never asked any clarifying questions about our eyewear when we booked the apt for an exam. When we ask a question if the insurance/benefits coordinator she became defensive, rude & tried to turn the situation back on us as if WE were out of line. I'm guessing that the rest of the staff & Dr's are fine, but she is the reason we walked out without getting an exam. If your first experience on the first day is terrible..... their terrible! Just left this office after my first visit and needed to immediately review! This place is incredible. I had a scheduling conflict where I had to leave in the middle of my exam but they didnt hesitate to accommodate my issue and told me just to come back when I was done. The customer service not only by the front staff but the doctor himself were the best I've ever experienced! The options for glasses and accessories are great too but the service is priceless. Seems based on the reviews that their business is declining over the last year. I decided to try a new optometrist after using Stanton for several years because I wanted more of a family owned business and wanted to see the same Dr each year. I was recommended to this business by a friend and am now realizing I made the wrong choice. They never answer their phone. They do not call back once you leave a message. Even if you text them they do not respond or call back even though their automated text message asks if there's anything they can do to help. I got an appointment finally and did an eye exam for contacts and prescription for lenses. I got the trial pair of contacts and had to try so many different pairs but none worked super well which has never happened to me before. The girl said that they never had my exact prescription in house but that she gave me the closes option in each brand and that when it came time to order the ones I chose they the exact prescription would fit better. It had been almost 6 months of using trial after trial so I felt bad and just chose the pair that worked well enough compared to the others (my mistake). I used the lense prescription to buy glasses online but the prescription was not what I needed and I can't even wear the glasses without getting a headache from switching glasses/contacts. I wasn't able to get another eye exam because my insurance only covers one a year so I was stuck with this prescription because I placed an order for contacts they said there's nothing they can do unless I want to pay out of pocket for another exam which is over $200. I've been getting headaches and it's just frustrating. I am now eligible for a new exam but I cannot get through when I call them. I won't be going back. read more

My experience with Serrin on both the Mooney & Caldwell locations were a disaster. I was with them for 2 years and from day one starting with the Mooney I was treated bad by Maria whom I believe was the Supervisor. When, I switched to the Caldwell location I told them about my Spy glasses that I had gotten defective and I waited 2 years to get an another pair of frames and when I finally got them, they were also defective. I ended up getting a new pair of Ray Bans with a new prescription and this time I walked around for 3 weeks or so with a headache cus the prescription was wrong. When, told that they were hurting my eyes and head they told me that there was nothing more they can do for me. I paid really good money for frames and lenses and they acted like I was just complaining for no reason. All 2 years that I was there was nothing but problems. They don't seem to take their customer or jobs seriously I wasn't just complaining for no reason. Everything, that they did for me during the 2 years that I was there was a total disaster. I would often see and hear customers go in and ask to get their glasses fixed cus they were the same way as mine so I wasn't the only one. They have rude employees (Mooney Location) bad service, bad & defective frames, prescription on your lenses are crap and instead of making it right they end up telling you to go elsewhere. I was just told that they were not going to do anything else for me and to go elsewhere. This is after wearing bad glasses, having headaches for 2 years and spending good money. I don't believe that this is the way you treat people. To anyone who's thinking of going there DON'T DO IT!!! read more

Whenever, I call them they never answer it took me a while to make an appointment because they never picked up so I couldn't make an appointment. Now I'm having trouble again because they don't pick up to confirm that my glasses are ready to get picked up. I don't Know if their not picking up because it's holiday but if so then they should have put closed instead of open and the time that I went when I finally got my appointment all of the staff members were chatting while the phone was going off. Maybe they might have been on break at the time but I call almost every single day at different hours of the day and they never pick up. read more

Staff is very friendly and welcoming. I was seen by Dr. Mathur. My old optometry would have taken almost a month before they could get me in so I decided to give Dr. Serrins a try. Dr. Mathur was very kind. I have astigmatism and she recommended the contact brand 'Biofinity' but since I feel more comfortable with my old brand 'Air Optix' she ordered a trial pair of the Air Optix and let me use the Biofinity trials for the time being. So long story short; I ended up needing contacts sooner than I anticipated and ended up calling back to just put in an order for the Biofinity brand. Took just a week and when I went in to pick up my contacts, they also gave me the Air Optix trials no charge. The environment and location of Dr Serrins is beautiful. The doctors are wonderful. Although, the staff made me a bit uncomfortable, because they looked and talked unprofessional in my opinion...won't go into too much depth (look below). Personally, I won't be coming here again. *My last review got taken down by moderators because of defamatory comments towards the staff. I'm sorry if my review damaged your business or anyone's reputation... I really was being honest, but I guess TOO honest looking back at my old review. Although, I doubt one comment that almost no one votes on will affect your business in pretty much any way at all... but I can see how it can damage the staff, and again, I'm sorry. But my advice to the owner of the business (this is constructive criticism)... please take negative comments on your business as constructive criticism, so you can improve your business, instead of defend yourself to the commenter who criticizes your business, because 99% of commenters are just trying to recommend improvements to the business rather than try and defame the company. Dr Steven's office is the most clean, modern, and comfortable optometrist office I've ever been to... CASSIE is the most helpful desk lady. When I first came in, Cassie immediately complimented my sister and I, she was so expressive and SWEETTTT. She is super understanding, sweet, charismatic, and also awesome on the phone as well. The wait is never long plus they provide magazines, water, and even children toys to keep your little ones preoccupied. Ashley, Eileen & Juanita are also awesome ladies, they're very relaxed, humble, and there if you ever need help. ANTHONY is also super helpful when it comes to finding the perfect lens for your eyes!! Also super helpful during your transactions! Rafael, the intern I believe, was also super sweet! He was very calm, clean, and super cool. Shout out to you with the sweet fit and thanks for the follow on insta!!! haha Dr. Mathur was an amazing doctor!!! The staff here is incredibly warm and welcoming. I had ordered a pair of prescription glasses online, once recieved I noticed they were in need of an adjustment. I was sent away by a couple of other places, including the office I've gone to for years for all my optometrist appointments, contacts, and glasses needs! No one would touch my glasses because I didn't purchase from through them... I happened upon Dr. Serrins place through a google search. Cassie at the front desk was so kind, told me to come right down, which I immediately did. Anthony adjusted my glasses and I was out of there in less than 3 minutes. We were switched from another eye Dr that we loved, and we love Dr Serrins and his staff even more!!! They are always so friendly, attentive, patient and SUPER knowledgeable!! They have been awesome helping our youngest son with his "lazy" eye problem. The doctors have made follow up calls and are always showing concern for getting it corrected before he gets too old and in becomes permanent. On top of that, we are able to get appoints just about when ever we need and even on one Saturday a month, very convenient!! They are great with the getting all of the insurance stuff done as well plus they always tell us copays up front. We totally love these guys!! read more

You ever see an old movie called Animal House? About a noisy frat house with all this commotion going on at a fictitious college? Well, that's what it reminded me of when I called today to make an appointment. There was so much background noise (loud laughter, personal conversations, phones ringing)during the call in that office that it I almost hung up & called another optometrist. So unprofessional! I could barely hear the girl who was scheduling my appointment that I had to ask her to tell the merrymakers to turn the noise down. They didn't. I asked her who was their office manager was & she answered 'Cassie, she's sitting next to me.' So who's really in charge of the circus? Because the office manager wasn't doing her job of maintaining a professional office. I'm a fairly new patient and I really liked Dr Vin(?) last year, but that whole background zoo atmosphere was a complete turnoff. I'm keeping my scheduled appointment but I pray that I'll find a more professional attitude when I walk in. Because I really liked Dr. Vin I'm giving 2 stars, but the office shenanigans get -2. I thought I liked this Dr office until my sons last visit. Apparently my insurance company dropped their office and they never contacted me to tell me. I show up to the appointment and they tell me to have a seat 10-15 minutes later they call me up to tell me that they were dropped the previous month. No call, no letter nothing. Very unprofessional. I purchased insurance because I was in need of contacts bad so I went here. I know exactly what was covered on my plan and the ladies at the front desk told me they didn't exactly know how to read my benefits but they were sure my plan does not cover a contact exam. They tried to get me to pay about $112 out of pocket even though my insurance clearly states it covers my exam and the remainder goes towards contacts. One of the ladies said ALL insurance plans never cover contact exams. Such BS. They also pulled this with a friend I know and told him one of the doctors only handles exams for glasses but will schedule him anyway for contacts. I'm sorry but no! If the doctor's profession is not in contact exams then don't send someone in need of contacts to him! It took over a month to even get the contacts in and they messed up on ordering the glasses. I had hoped this office were a lot more professional than what I saw while there. I don't think people in this type of profession who handle glasses and contacts should have long claw like nails since they're dealing with peoples expensive glasses or contacts. Underneath nails can be very disgusting and they are spreading these germs to ones eyes. They should be cut to a professional length. I also don't think someone in this profession should have crazy unnatural bright colored hair as it makes the office seem low class and tacky. But that's just my opinion. I have also heard so much gossip from the employees about each other because one person kept calling off. Very unprofessional. I didn't like seeing one of the employees eating where glasses and contacts are tried on. One last thing is the answering of the phones. I have had to call many times to this office and I feel every single phone call should be answered like they are happy to be there and help. Not answer in a monotone voice and rudely telling someone to hold. It should be asked. I don't have anything negative to say about the doctors though it's just the staff at the front. For the past year, I've been suffering from a tearing eye which I was told was due to chemotherapy treatment. I sought help from three different eye doctors including an optometrist, ophthalmologist & an ophthalmologist plastic surgeon. During tests and recommended treatment therapies, NONE of these clinicians ever told me I had cornea deterioration & dry eye which was the root cause of my tearing issue, that is, until I saw Dr. Steven Serrins in his Visalia office. Not only did Dr. Serrins identify the cornea issue but he spent quality time clearly explaining the protocol I needed to follow to realize improvement. I went in a week before my appointment so I could have my current glasses adjusted and the girl cracked my frames, I didn't notice till the next day (Sat). I ended up having to go to Lenscrafters over the weekend and getting contacts till my new glasses come in. I no longer feel comfortable going back there because what if it happened again?? read more
