This place is very popular and very nice and in a great location. It's very busy so make a reservation in advance any night of the week. I've been here a couple times now because I go to Amsterdam for work and this is pretty close to the hotel. It's maybe a little over the top for me but it is pretty good. As you might expect they serve pretty much all seafood so if you don't like fish you might want to look elsewhere. In general the food is really good in a classy environment. The service can be spotty. It's very popular and trendy and they can act accordingly. Prices are generally expensive as you can get decent food in Amsterdam for generally decent prices and this is definitely on the higher end. So all in all if you're visiting Amsterdam and want a nice meal this is a good place to go just make a reservation. read more

This restaurant came recommended by a local when we asked for a restaurant that served mussels. We made our reservation and decided to give it a try. It was very busy when we got there. In spite of this, we were immediately seated. Our waitress came to us and took our orders. Before we knew it, our plates started coming to us! Really quick service. Getting towards the end of our trip and spending a few days in Amsterdam. Our first dinner stop was here at the SeafoodBar. It's a very nice spot, busy but a very attentive staff. We tried a few things, garlic butter shrimp was so good for an app. The oysters were a real hit at the table and I forgot to mention how great the drinks were. We had the cold seafood platter at the table along with the fish and chips and the salmon plate. All in all, very much worth the stop. There was a slight problem with the bill, I have to say, management was very apologetic and corrected it. They did a great job with all around service. Been to Amsterdam several times in the last two years, so I already have my favorite places. Still need to try different spots though, so that's how we ended up at The Seafood Bar! I knew it was gonna be legit when the restaurant proudly displays the seafood it has on offer. Had several items here: Sea Bass Ceviche, some oysters, Kibbeling with Tartar Sauce, Fish and Chips (fried cod fillet), and Fruits De Mer. Food is really good and worth the price IMO. Really enjoyed the Fruits de Mer, as it was a plate of fresh seafood. And of course you can't go wrong with a properly done plate of fish and chips. Love everything about this place! Especially Sev--a hostess/waitress who speaks English with the most amazing accent in the entire world. She was super nice seated immediately at the bar and came by to ask if I wanted a table. All the waitress and the cook/chef behind the bar were talking with me and so amazingly friendly or might just seem that way after 10 days in Norway, nobody was social! Borders on rude. Anyway, everyone was chatting and super friendly. The place was in the weeds/crushed its Easter and while in Norway they have their Red Days and EVERYTHING was closed since Wednesday, here locals took to town. This place has amazing finger food and today I had the shrimp croquettes. Excellent the dipping sauce was great. I didn't order the seafood combo "Fruit of the Sea" but it looked amazing! Delcious and a must try when in Amsterdam! Make sure you make a reservation for dinner if you want to secure a spot. We walked in trying to get last minute seating although there wasn't room that night, we were able to make a booking for the next night. We decided to with the half cooked and half raw/on ice seafood platter, a whole grilled fish, grilled octopus app and a side of sweet potato fries. This was enough to feed our party of four. Definitely enjoyed the cooked portion more of the two sections of the platter. We are able to figure out most if the cooked section while the raw section left us unsure but willing to give it a taste. From the raw/on ice section the rock crab was a standout. It was sweet and meaty but tough to crack open. We particularly enjoyed the cooked portion as it came with stewed mussels two different grilled fish filets and shrimps. The whole grilled fish was definitely worth it, the meat was tender and the bones were large enough to comfortably pick out. It was served with a side for relish or sauce which complimented the fish so well. We found ourselves dunking other items into the sauce. Of course the sweet potato fries were a hit, crunchy, sweet and full of flavor. The octopus was also cooked perfectly, not overly chewy and fresh tasting. We truly enjoyed our meal. The staff were friendly and patient when ordering. Offering wine recommendations for our specific menu items as well as checking in on us and clearing the shell bucket multiple times. read more

That said, be warned: eating fish with bones can be inconvenient, so keep that in mind when ordering. Now for the frustrating part--the reservation system. There are three different Seafood Bar locations, but the main phone number goes to an automated line that doesn't ask which location you're trying to reach. We called to make a reservation and assumed we were good, but when we arrived with family, they said we booked the wrong location and couldn't seat us. Several other families were dealing with the same issue while we were there. Tip: Book directly with the location you want to go to--don't rely on the main line.
