Guests are greeted by friendly faces and helpful volunteers and staff willing to help them with anything to make their stay better. The building is massive (especially since the recent expansion) with lots of guest rooms, indoor and outdoor playgrounds, plenty of kitchens, fitness center, arcade, and so much more. All areas are maintained by staff and volunteers to keep a clean and comfortable environment for the perfect home away from home. The kitchens are stocked with anything you may need to prepare a home cooked meal, as well as many days where organizations will come in and cook for you. The house plans activities for the week with art therapy, movie nights, pet therapy, and so much more to provide great support and care. The location is adjacent to the MRMC campus with a skywalk, over the busy street, to Children's Hospital. If walking is not for you, there is a van shuttle to take families to and from the hospitals without having to worry about transportation. The fantastic facilities, great staff, friendly volunteers, and many services is what makes RMHC a great place dedicated for families facing medical challenges. There is plenty of good things to say about it!

What a beautiful facility for families that need it most. At capacity, those families number 70…read more I was at Ronald McDonald house this evening making sandwiches for people that will need them the next day. Or even if they wake up that evening or wee hours of the night/morning in need of some nourishment. I was told most of what me made (about 6 or so loaves of bread worth in addition to salads and bagged snacks) would be gone well before noon the next day. Most of the staff here are volunteers and very dedicated to this place. It was very humbling to be there. Aside from making sandwiches you can come in with a group and make "family dinner" Sunday through Thursday or Saturday (Fridays are the one night excluded). I'd love to come back and do this with a dedicated group of 8 - 10 ready to get creative with a menu and show the residents a throwdown. There are so many thoughtful things, such as a gym, an arcade with ping pong table, playroom, outdoor patio, outdoor playhouse, outdoor babbling brook that I was told is very soothing, non-denominational chapel, a community loom where anyone can add a piece of fabric, a music room to at your instrument and the coveted "Magic Room" -- which I won't give it away. Please instead come volunteer for a night and find out! Residents here have to come to their rooms at least once every 24 hours. This is to make the best use of their provided space for those truly in need. A $20 per day donation is asked, but no one deserving will be turned away. The largest sponsors for this facility are local corporations and local people. Yes, McDonalds plays a part, as well. But truly it's a lot about local corporations. And those local people who sponsor or volunteer. Also some local sports athletes. The stunning metal tree sculpture on the tall fireplace mantle is detailed with leaves, each etched on the back in the name of a sponsor. There are jewels below it, which represent sponsors able to give more and also embedded within the tree are butterflies which indicate large endowments. Writing this I realized that this is my 400th review on Yelp. How fitting that it be something that is so helpful to people who truly deserve the most love in the world at a given time. Happy Holidays to all!

"Look what's happening out in the streets Ain't it amazing…read moreall the people I meet Hey, now it's time for you and me We are volunteers of America" (Jefferson Airplane) What on Earth is Blue Goose? I found out when I joined in 1993, and because I value community service and volunteerism, I've never regretted that decision for one minute. Founded in 1906, the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose, International, is a charitable organization of individuals across the U.S. and Canada. We have one thing in common - we all work in the insurance industry and its related lines of business. We gather at restaurants, golf tournaments, professional and collegiate sporting events, escape rooms, and charitable activities. We have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities and sponsored food, clothing, school supplies, personal care items, and toy drives. We volunteer in the community by collecting after-school snacks and craft supplies for the children's programs, sorting food at local pantries and food banks, cooking and serving dinner, or preparing lunches for homeless shelters. If you are in any way involved in the insurance industry, joining the Blue Goose can advance your career and enrich your life in many ways. You will expand your contacts and pool your resources with fellow professionals to do good things in your community. Just like I did, you'll find a welcoming group of friends. You'll find that a place has been saved for you. Feel free to message me with any questions.
