Well I have to say these guys are fantastic. I wasn't actually expecting much as I though it would be a snobby Shoreditch twat hair spot but actually they are fantastic. I brought Lolly the doggy I'm looking after at the moment with me and they were totally cool about having her there and everyone was so friendly. Okay down to the nitty gritty, nope you don't get a drink when you walk in (but that doesn't really bother me) Yes you do get a lovely head rub while you're hair is being washed ( Lolly got a tummy rub - she's a fan too!) Yes they made me feel comfortable and yes they asked me how I liked it all the way through. Actually it was a really enjoyable hour I spent in here and even grabbed a coffee from 1001 on my walk home. I have new hair and am a happy lady! £35 was pretty fair for the service too! read more

Independently owned hair salon Vision, located within The Truman Brewery just off Brick Lane, is popular amongst locals and the press alike having featured in Vogue, Tank and ID magazines. A contemporary and cool salon, Vision's staff of 10 stylists (nee hairdressers) and six colourists are as capable of giving you a classically beautiful barnet as they are of fashioning your hair into an avant garde do. FINALLY. I have found somewhere to get my hair cut. Recommended by a friend, I nervously went here - on a Sunday, brilliantly (wander the Up market and Sapitalfields afterwards) - to have my locks chopped off. I needn't have worried. Egon was fantastic. He knew exactly what I meant, wasn't afraid to do it (it takes a brave stylist to lop off 2 years' of growth into a completely new style they suggested themselves), and made my hair look brilliant (if I say so myself). I now have an edgy-but-not-too-edgy cut which is easy to look after. He talked through all the products, as did whoever washed my hair, but they weren't pushy on sales at all - they don't need to be, the products are damn good and sell themselves I'd imagine. I got a lovely cuppa, and there's some hysterical reading material lying around ('bad hair' now my favourtie book). Everyone is chatty and friendly. Half the price I thought it might be when I first heard the words 'Shoreditch salon' and worth twice the price. I'll be visiting Egon religiously. Sometimes I think we label people Shoreditch twats far too easily because the staff at Vision are nowhere near twattish at all. Yeah they are achingly cool and you are right in the middle of Brick Lane. But very sweet and lovely staff, I was offered a drink by 4 different people. They are excellent at washing hair and ensure that you don't get a stream of water down your back! My stylist Stelios was the nicest guy, very friendly and gave me a great cut, knowing exactly what I wanted. I'd never go back to Toni and Guy after coming here. Maybe it was because most of them were European or Japanese, perhaps Shoreditch twatism is a purely British thing (controversial!!) Cannot recommend Vision enough and they cut on Sundays! read more

Rhys made me feel like the only girl in the world. As my boo Rhianna would say. After discovering Vision on Yelp, I booked an appointment online and printed off the voucher for 30% off for first-time visitors. When I arrived at the salon the woman at the front desk stopped her casual conversation to greet me and get my details. It is clear that this place values customer service. Rhys, a Russell Brand look- alike, came for me as I was reading one of the many super interesting vintage hair-style magazines. He was extremely warm and we began discussing my thoughts on how I wanted my hair cut. I stupidly did not bring pictures, and began describing my desired hair as similar to a number of obscure pop culture icons from the 80s and as "a helmet". He laughed and tried his best to translate my hand-waving into an actual haircut. Eventually I got my point acrossed. Although he is a stylist, Rhys was not to uppity to wash and massage my frock. He did a wet cut and continually asked questions about the cutting progress, my life, and what I wanted to drink. As my mint iced tea arrived, Rhys began applying a Morrocan Oil to make my locks shine and blew it dry. He then did a dry cut and perfected my wig helmet. We laughed and chatted and before I knew it he had been cutting my fringe for nearly an hour. Rhys then mentioned that I could get free fringe trims and that I should consider using a flat iron as he did to get a super-perfect edge. He is incredibly neat with his work and workstation, which is all evidence that he truly cares about his work and wants to make clients happy. I paid my £28 bill, YES ONLY £28 and the woman at reception proceeded to give me loads of vouchers for money off various services. And reiterate that all fringe trims are free. I have found my salon and stylist. Go with Rhys, have a great and inexpensive haircut, and enjoy the 5-star streatment. read more

-The salon is swanky without being intimidating. -The haircutting is trendy without being twatty. -The cost is a bit spendy without being unreasonable. I'm sure you could walk out of this place with a hairstyle that's fit to take you straight to a Hackney dive bar if you wanted. But when I came in and asked for a trim and a bit of a restyle to amp up the 'cool' factor of my current look, the stylist (Paris) gave me just that. My hair's suitable for my day job at the bank while still managing to make me feel like I'm hip to the beat. The little things: The beautiful boy with blue eyes* working front of house exuded friendliness, was quite accommodating and had a wonderful smile. The wash was relaxing and unhurried. The coffee I was given was a bit crap, but I wasn't expecting anything much; at least it was forthcoming, which is more than I can say about refreshments at some other salons I've been to in London. As for the cut: Paris took his time while snipping away at my locks and explained the things he was doing as he did them. If I had wanted to object, I could have - something to note if you're a picky customer. He used a treatment oil on my ends before he blow dried my hair and then finished off the cut and meticulously trimmed my fringe. He cut my hair in such a way that the end result was suitable for both my hair type and my lifestyle; I appreciated that. He also used the Bumble & Bumble products I mentioned I had at home when he went to style my hair at the end. Importantly, this salon uses Bumble and Bumble products exclusively. I'm a brand-loyalist, so Vision wins big points with me for this one. A week on, I like my haircut better than I did on the day, I admit, but that's always the way with me. Therefore, I'd call my visit to Vision a resounding success. Would I return for another haircut? Quite possibly. If that same front-of-house boy welcomed me with his charming smile? My hipster friend told me he has been going here for the last four years, according to him its the best salon in London. Taking his advice I decided to opted for a change and to come here. I had one of the senior stylist, Paris. He did a okay haircut but for some one who is senior, you would expect a lot more for your money. My haircut looked exactly the same hair with what I left with. To top it off, it took an hour to do my hair, my old hairdresser would do it in 30 minutes, with full wash, cut, blow-dry and style. The shock moment was when he tried to cut my fringe when wet, I have been to a few master classes at Vidal Sassoon Academy and everyone knows fringes shrink when after being dry, so it tends to be the last bit of hair to be cut. I left the salon feeling robbed by good looking hipsters in Bricklane and £54 less in my pocket. Its getting two stars because the overpriced cost and the ok haircut. will I go back there again? probably not unless they doing the haircuts for half the price. I'm going back to my nearest and dearest Windle and Moodle. Actually you could even pay less money and get a top stylish at Brookes and Brooks, get free sweets in the process and be treated more like a princess. read more

Hyper trendy hairdressers just off Brick Lane, full of trendies and their ridiculous haircuts. A friend of mine had her haircut in here and came out looking like the goth on Hollyoaks (yep, he wears a wig). Although i do know people who've had good cuts here, so at best I'd say it's hit and miss. Although haircuts are completely subjective so it's best to find a hairdresser that you like and stick with them. Prices are standard for trendy salons - cuts for around £50, dyes for around the £100 mark. It also gets busy, so you'll probably need to book well in advance - definitely not the kind of place you can turn up and be cut. read more

If you're hair is of the birds nest variety and violently rebels at any hint of humidity like mine, you will understand the importance of a good salon. I was initially dubious about going to a hairdressers smack bang in hectic Brick Lane- mecca of Shoreditch scenesters. I feared I'd leave in tears with either a buzzcut or a Pat Sharp mullet. Nevertheless I was tempted by the extremely reasonable prices in what is a very swish and modern salon with all the latest in hair treatments, including the coveted Yuko straightening system. On my first trip I was greeted with a cup of tea and a quick chat and hair fluff by the stylist. This was followed by an uncommonly comfortable shampoo and professional head massage- miles away from the usual pain-fest that is trying to relax with your head in a sink. The haircut itself was swift and consisted of more primping than holiday chit-chat. Half an hour later and I'd gone from disheveled Dynasty reject to sleek Cleopatra, with a fringe so perfect I could've shed a tear. I'm not gonna lie, I've guiltily cheated on Visions occasionally, but always come running back to give my barnet the TLC it deserves. read more

Alas, my search for the perfect London haircut continues... -I recently moved to London and I've gotten my hair done twice. The first time was awful (I won't say where, but it rhymes with "head-shmasters") and this time was just OK. I feel like I always walk out with some weird frizz layers around my face that makes me look like a poodle. +Friendly reception, decent coffee. There were only 2 or 3 stylists working, which meant it was quiet and not chaotic as some salons are with so many people and hairdryers. + They used great products too. She showed me what it was but in no way guilted me into buying them in the end. The best part though? A £28 cut. Whaaaaaat? 30% first time customers say yeaaah. My first visit to Vision is now behind and I still own a very classical haircut. Thank god. I was a bit scarred as this place has so innovative reputation to say the least. But the Vision was more down the earth and with nice and relaxed atmosphere and cool music offered by the neighbour Rough Trade records. I was offered coffee and mince pies while having all the top fashion magazines on my lap. Sometimes you just need to pamper your self. Great stylist. My hair has been a dried mess for a while now. Having bleached it white while growing it out at the same time (not recommended) it has been in a constant state of looking like I never get it cut. Thankfully I've stopped that and this last cut really made a difference. It looks like a real style now! My stylist was Gemma, her head massage was very relaxing and she was very confident with her choices in what would work best with my head had to offer. I said she could do what ever she liked with my bangs and she gave me some very edgy asymmetrical bangs that work well with my cowlick. Would definitely recommend! read more

I live in the area and have gone to Vision twice. Stylist was good but service is really crap. The guys there are achingly cool - that they forget that customers need to be treated with respect. They offer the 'additional service' of trimming your fringe (i have an extremely straight blunt fringe which needs upkeep) but treat you like crap when you actually try and go for the trim. They basically tell you to turn up on the hour - if the stylist is busy. too bad. then you'll have to come back next time. For those who travel, its a bit like getting those excess plane tickets, sometimes the plane is full and you just have to come back. p.s. it is not an indication of good service if they dont get water down your back, its bad service if they do. read more

I had my haircut by Stelios several months ago and I have to say I was so upset afterwards I went home and cried. He cut it much, much shorter than we agreed - I could barely get it in a pony tail afterwards. He also cut all the layers out and basically gave me a blunt bob - which I had not come in to get and which most definitely didn't suit me and looked nothing like the photo I had brought with me. Even today although my hair has grown there is no style in it whatsoever. Very disappointed. read more

OMG - got my hair cut by Constantine and it was the worst hair cut I have ever had. I ask for a particular style (had a picture with me) and he gave me something completely different. Looking back I should have refused to pay. I told my friend who said she also got her hair cut by him and he chopped 4 years worth of growth off - not what she asked for. Constantine is clearly a bit scissor happy (not to mention arrogant). Any way went back as was recommended a guy called Paris who was a dream hair stylist. Did every thing I asked for and more - in a good way. As I got my hair shampooed I told the junior of my terrible experience about Constantine. Apparently everyone in the salon also thinks he's scissor happy and none of them would ever get their hair cut by him. Wish I knew this before he ruined my hair. Paris is great though so try him if you go to visions! read more

I've been to Vision a number of times and have to say each visit has been great, leaving my hair looking fantastic. From the first step into the salon the last step out you are met with lovely warm staff. You are greeted, asked if you'd like a like a drink (anything from green tea to champagne by the way) and your coat and bag is taken behind the counter. Yilmaz on reception is always friendly, so helpful and will do whatever he can to please the client- great customer service. My first ever visit there was a few years ago when I wanted to dye my black hair blond. The technician Satchiko and Hiroko were brilliant my hair looked amazing considering most salons said they could not dye my hair blond. My most recent visit was again brilliant. My technician Vogi touched up my roots and did a few highlights with speed and precision. All in all, staff and friend;y, professional and know what they are doing at all times. Located in the very cool Shoreditch with very cool staff if you're looking for an edgy new look this is the perfect place. read more

I just got a Brazilian Blow Dry done today at Vision hairdressers and have to say that i am throughly disappointed. I always wanted to get it done and when i found out that i could get 30% discount due to a March offer i decided to enquire. Over the phone i explained that i had chemically straightened extremely fine hair and it was about medium length. I asked if it was a fixed price and i was told that it was and for my type of hair it would be £150. No consultation was necessary apparently. I went in for my appointment at 10am and no one was there. I was left to wait 10 minutes. I guess this should have sent alarm bells ringing. My hair was done by Paris, a nice guy but who really struggled with English. He endeavored to tell me the process as i have never had it done before, but i couldn't understand much he was saying. He got on with his job, asking a junior to help. Although Pairs did a good job, the junior was bad!! He kept pulling my hair with a brush, which at times was just painful. Paris almost burned my scalp with his extra hot blowdryer which i found really unnerving, and the thought of what he was going to be like with straightening irons just scared me!!! The end result was ok, my roots were still curly, even after seeing smoke come from my hair after the hot irons were run over it again and again and again (I don't know how that could be good for my hair) I know the results wont last long, precisely for this reason. I went to pay for it and was told that i HAD to buy shampoo and conditioner otherwise the treatment wouldn't last long, i declined and was pressured again saying that if i chose not to, then the salon cannot be held responsible for my hair. I declined again and was told that i had to pay £180. I told them that the price i was quoted over the phone was £150. They quibbled and said "it is FROM £150" and because my hair was "afro-Caribbean it had taken over 3 hours which would be an extra £30". I was flabbergasted. If there are different costs for different hair types, then why aren't these quoted on the price list?? I fought my corner saying that it was ridiculous. They said that the Keratin treatment they had given me was more expensive and they do not do the cheaper one anymore. Why wasn't i told this before???? I told them that i had only bought £105 with me (30% of £150), take it or leave it. They took it and i went on my way. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO BACK!! read more

I'm always looking for the best hairdresser cause I've got the worst hair in the world. I googled it and I found this hair salon which according to the reviews seemed to be a good one. My bad luck, turned out it wasn't. The lady who took care of me was always complimenting me all the way through to a point it sounded fake, just to get more tip or something. She kept questioning me about my job, position and all that even if I didn't want to talk about it, so was the guy from birmingham who did my shampoo. That made me feel really unconfortable. And the icing on the cake, even if they have 1 hour to do everything she was talking so much that she had to rush and for the styling I had to do it myself. So at the end they made me waste not only my money but my time as well. At least in a cheaper one they wouldn't have wasted any of both. In spite of the pleasant treatment I got on my first visit, for a salon that charges 37£ for a graduate stylist, you would expect a lot more for your money. When I got home, and after washing and drying my hair, I realised that one side of my hair on top was a lot longer than the other side, which happened as a result of first having pointed out to him the opposite side was longer, in the end, I ended up with one side longer, just not the same I pointed out when there. Unfortunately, I felt like I was in a barber, the haircut I got is plain and boring, a beginners haircut or one that you would get in a 10£ haircut place, with the difference that this was one of the longest haircuts I have ever had. I have been to Hob and ESHK Hairdressers in Hoxton, where I have always had good haircuts. While at Hob I got better haircuts for around 30£, from a stylist, in ESHK I paid 37£ for a senior stylist and his confidence with the scissors and experience was the best I have encountered in London, I actually just trusted him and did not have to guide him though the haircut. At Vision, I was on edge, I felt a lack of confidence and the end result proved I was not wrong, I am disappointed with my haircut, but I did not even knew what to say at then end, as it is not horrible just very cheap looking for the price, I could have got a haircut like this in a cheaper barber. Also, it was very uncomfortable, unlike other hairdressers I seemed to have to twist my head all the time to make it easier for him. I have to say the person who cut it was very pleasant and he just needs more experience and a bit of know how with the cool haircuts you see around Brick Lane, which I asked for and I did not really get. It seems that the price tag has more to do with location than ability, as I would be more understanding of this haircut if I had paid 15£, not more. Good hair massage, uncomfortable cutting chairs that seem to never face straight. As one reviewer said, hit and miss? Price tag not justified. read more
