The staff was very polite, helpful, and efficient. They saw me about 10 mins after my appointment time. I didn't need new glasses and didn't feel pressured to buy another pair. They provided me a prescription with my PD in case I got a pair elsewhere. Visionworks took my insurance when many other places didn't. I opted for an extra $20 for an optical coherence tomography image. It showed that I potentially have borderline glaucoma. I had an appointment scheduled for over a month on the day of the appointment I showed up half hour early expecting to fill out some paperwork.But Then I was told that I don't have any appointment scheduled I said I do and I showed them the email where I made the appointment but then they said they sent me another email to confirm the appointment a few days prior but because somehow I didn't respond to that email my appointment that I made was invalidated! Allow me to add to the chorus of negative reviews that start with customer service. It is truly not good. Not *the worst* I've encountered, but down in the bottom 10% for sure. I don't really like to be made to feel like I'm inconveniencing someone whose job it is to help me see better, nor do I need the gaslighting pushback when I mention that the prescription doesn't seem right. The only bright spot was how the person helped me with my refund after the 3rd make failed to improve my vision (it was actually the worst prescription to date). But I'm getting ahead of myself. The first appointment wasn't too bad. Waited too long in one of the chairs in the back of the store, to the point where I had to ask if they had forgotten about me, but once I got through the room where they do the initial eye-check and saw the doctor, things went pretty well. I don't remember her name off the top of my head, but I actually liked her a lot. It was all downhill from there. We talked about my concerns. She seemed confident, like she knew just what I needed (a prism for my left lens), and I was on my way. Fast forward to my pickup (turnaround time was fine; not great, but within expectations) and I encountered friction from the front desk as soon as it seemed like the glasses were not helping. They basically wouldn't do anything until I had them for a week to let my eyes get used to the prescription (I've never bought this explanation from any shop; my eyes don't seem to "adjust" to any prescription I've had in over 15 years; they either work or they don't). After a week, the issue was still present, so they asked me to come back. The wait was a little lengthy, though not as bad as my original visit. The guy they put me with was... I hate to say nasty things about anyone, but he was just... not a people person. No "bedside" manner. No efficiency, not even any confidence, really. He seemed like he only completed optometry school by doing makeup credits or something. It was a struggle to get through that appointment. He recommended I take the prism out and strengthened the other prescriptions (progressive lenses). Fast forward again. Same story with pickup. Same story with a repeat exam, same guy. Same bumbling, mumbling, slow, worrisome experience. I accepted his advice to go for a computer-type prescription (bifocals for computer use, basically). Fast forward *again* and the new prescription is the worst yet. It was the first time anything had ever blurred and made things hard to see, hurting my eyes worse than when I try to focus too long without glasses. This time I got my refund on the spot, with really no pushback, which was the first time I'd gotten none from that place. There was almost a hint of empathy from her and from a guy that was there. Again, I didn't take names. But despite being refunded, I was not done yet. I found another optometrist to try--unfortunately there was no one I could see within a couple miles or so, but whatever--and they told me that I had to call VSP or Visionworks to release the claim so that I could do another exam. I called VSP, because one other thing I have HATED about Visionworks is dealing with their impossible phone system. It is among the worst phone trees ever, right up there with insurance companies like USAA. Anyway, long story short, they told me I did have to get Visionworks to do it, so I called Visionworks and, after finally getting into a hold queue, I waited for 25 minutes for someone to pick up, only to find that I was talking to someone at a central office. I was already walking back to the store from the grocery store across the parking lot, since I was running errands anyway, and it was faster to hang up and talk to the person who refunded me earlier. She told me she had already reversed the claim. She was nice enough about it--again, she was the rare helpful person I spoke with there, but I had to take that on "faith," and only believed her because she was so decent to me otherwise compared to everyone else. Here's hoping the claim is available to use when I visit the new optometrist. Unfortunately, my appointment is 2 weeks from today, and I don't have any backup glasses to use. They took the lenses from my regular glasses and my sunglasses, since they made them, and of course they did not give me back my originals, since the lab keeps them or tosses them out. So they gave me back my frames. So, yeah, I got my money back from their lenses, but I kinda think I'm in the hole here, since they took my previous lenses and didn't compensate me for the loss. I may not have glasses for another 4 weeks now, between the wait to see the new doctor and the wait for the lenses to be made. I will survive it, of course, but this is hugely inconvenient, makes things more difficult for me fora month, and I'm going to be having more headaches for the foreseeable future, too. Not just this figurative headache I've been having with Visionworks for the past few weeks. STAY AWAY. read more

I don't normally write reviews but I felt I had to. Visionworks Clarke receptionists are so rude. I can't believe I was accused of lying when they couldn't find my appointment. When found it was automatically cancelled the night before because I never Confirmed my appointment even though i wasn't asked to confirm. I received notification by email to fill out paperwork which I did the night before. I was told to move to the side as they had other patients coming in. Clearly I was upset and let it known. Don't waste your time going to Clarke. I would recommend going to another visionworks. read more

Had a appointment at 5:20 arrived 18 minutes late fortunately they still took. The service was amazing was greeted by Clarissa who was very sweet and attentive. I didn't really wait at all since I did the admission forms online it really helped. Everything was great, during check out was helped by Marissa she was great, nice, polite and very helpful with my insurance. I was sort of nervous at first reading reviews but all of that went away as soon as I entered. Will definitely be making my appointments here from now on. Unprofessional, called asking for my last four of my ss number without identifying who they were. Went in person to give the info and they called the next day for the same thing. Requested no pressure check due to a retina disease and they cancelled my appointment. But got preapproval from my insurance company which I intercepted. The woman was very pleasant. When I arrived, I was received with politeness and a smile. I waited less than 15 minutes for the doctor. (Dr. Pinho who was awesome). I bought my glasses from a small store connected to my eye doctor. Unfortunately after a few months both nose pieces fell out which I didn't even notice until I acquired an annoying blister on the bridge of my nose. Being that it was Sunday I knew my options were limited. I went to the local pharmacy and picked up the adhesive nosepads contained in the standard glasses repair kit. It was a short term solution but those felt nosepads are both uncomfortable and tacky. I then remembered that Visionworks was right down the street and figured I would give it a try. Walking into the store I was met with a friendly greeting by the people working there. The person at the store who assisted me was able to replace the nosepads for me in a timely manner (and did not even charge me for the service). I was pleasantly surprised by this being that I had not purchased my initial pair of glasses there It's not often you see companies put customer service over profit. Next time I'm looking to buy a pair of glasses I will definitely keep this place in mind! read more

I have had several negative experiences here. The customer service is really upsetting. I once waited 20 min to be helped when a worker was not helping anyone else. She was just walking around, cleaning up glasses. She acknowledged us and said she will be right with us, but continued on. 20 minutes! Crazy. Then my glasses did not come in when they said they would. Then they cracked so I brought them to be fixed. They looked in the computer and said I did not purchase a warranty so they could not be fixed. I told her I purchased it, she insisted I did not. I pulled out my receipt showing that I did, and asked why she wouldn't have honored my warranty if I did not keep the receipt from 7 months ago and she said she would have. Lie. I purchased my glasses at the Visonworks in Toms River, which did not thrill me either. I paid extra for them to be thinned and they are not. Anyway, I went to the Clark store to have my frames adjusted since they were loose and crooked. The two girls at the front desk just stared at me and told me to, "go sit over there." I sat and waited for five minutes before one of them came to ask for the glasses (there was no one in the store). The doctor than came out and asked the same question, and took my glasses in the back. I waited about 15 minutes for him to bring them back, he tightened them a little too much and they still felt crooked. He adjusted them so they fit correctly, and I asked him if they were still crooked because they felt like it and I had my contacts in so I couldn't see. I got home and put them on and they were more crooked than when I brought them there! You could definitely tell no one wanted to be there nor help you.... read more

I have visited this facility a good amount of times I have gotten my glasses done here as well as my mother. Today makes the second time that I have to reschedule an appointment for my father. I don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is a woman attending at the front desk today at 6:00 pm named Daniela. This is the second time that I unfortunately meet with her and both times she has greeted me my mother and my father with attitude. I understand that we were a few minutes late to our appointment but I did call to let them know that we were coming. I deal with customer service myself but giving attitude and rolling your eyes at a client is not good customer care. Ok first off The doctor is great, the manager is awesome, the lady that helped me through the process of purchasing the glasses was sweet... So after almost a year I decide to bring my sister there to buy a new pair of glasses, we didnt know if her insurance would cover it so we stopped by to ask. When we did that there was a lady working there an older blonde lady. She was the rudest person ever, she didnt care that we wanted glasses, she didn't care about our insurance, she didn't care period. She was rude and unhelpful telling us short answers to question like "We would like to know if we can get a pair of glasses under this insurance?", she replies " it varies between companies" and she repeats this multiple times and more aggressively, so I say yeah I know and if she can find out if we can get one, long story short, she was rude to my mother and my sister until I came into the picture asking her name and if she's a manger bla bla bla. I decided to come back later, where the manager a nice lady answered all our questions in just a few seconds with a smile. the place is great but the blonde lady really shouldn't be there, made us walk out the door and file a complaint to her manager who seemed like she already had experienced this before. read more

wow just so horrible and inconvenient. first off, the doctor is RUDE and gets annoyed easily with questions. she wrote me a prescription for a contact lens brand i told her i hated, and she kept telling me that it's impossible since the brand never dropped until recently. i had the contacts sitting at home from two years ago when she told me it wasn't true. i already tried those and she insisted on me getting the ones i don't like. she was like okay so what's your question? in a rude tone after i told her i have them at home. also i asked if i could use color contacts for astigmatism and she told me that doesn't exist. a quick google search showed that was a lie. they do exist. the front desk lady kept pushing me and pushing me to buy glasses i did NOT want. i kept saying no. they're extremely pushy. i came to pick up my trials i ordered, and it was a big fuss because the doctor had to see me try them on blah blah blah. apparently i had a follow up appointment and without the follow up appointment you can't pick up contacts you pay FOR! that's extremely inconvenient. i rather pay out of pocket at JcPenney optical. it's fast and easy. no follow up appointment necessary. follow up, needed approval from doctor, trials i don't even want, i couldn't even say i don't want the trials because the doctor has to approve me not wanting it. save your time and money. this place may be covered under your insurance but the stress it gives me UGH!!! read more

Had a nine a.m. appointment on a Saturday. Got right in, no waiting. Dr. Khullar was very thorough and definitely competent and knowledgeable. She answered my questions and invited me to ask more. She was also very calming. The staff member who performed my initial eye tests was a touch too short with me, and not very personable, but she was still professional. No issue with using my insurance. The selection of glasses looks good, but I buy my online. I will come here for future eye exams. read more

Unprofessional staff members. I understand that there is a protocol during these trying times but being rude and unprofessional should not accompany that. One staff member, greeted me at the door and explained that they are at max capacity and when a customer leaves, then I should be able to go in. Well, one person left and a different employee greeted me at the door. She asked all the pertinent questions but in an unprofessional manner. I had an appointment and was outside the store, 10-15 mins early, yet she says that they are at max capacity and that I won't be able to come in until my appointed time. Please, practice and enforce the same standards, so that customers are not confused when they arrive. I also asked a question about eye exams and was told none will be available until October. Given the times, we are in now, a lot of individuals will be losing their jobs and along with those jobs are their health benefits. If there isn't an appointment available for an eye exam for another couple of months, then extend some professional courtesy and offer a waitlist for possible cancellations. Or just plainly apologize for the inconvenience instead of being rude. This will be the last time, I will be coming to this establishment. read more

When you first walk in they will confirm that they are member of your providers directory. However after your exam they will switch the pricing and refuse to give you the pricing on your eye plan. I have Davis Vision and will never go in Visionworks stores again. read more
