I read several reviews that mentioned this place cuts lenses on-site and offers a fast turnaround, so I called ahead to confirm they could get my lenses ready before my upcoming vacation. They assured me it would be possible, so I drove 45 minutes on my lunch break to drop off my glasses. Unfortunately, they weren't ready in time for my trip. It actually took 10 days from when I dropped them off until my glasses were ready for pickup. To make matters worse, after they missed the deadline, they closed for a week for vacation (which they conveniently "forgot" to warn me about). They placed the blame for the delay entirely on UPS, but it was Rems who told me they could have my glasses done before I left. UPS didn't close for a week and didn't fail to communicate with me--Rems did. While I appreciate that they cut lenses on-site and can sometimes offer a quick turnaround under absolutely ideal circumstances, the 10 days it took to complete my order was actually longer than if I had gone to a closer optician that sends glasses out to a lab. read more

Rems Opticians on Raritan Road in Clark are the bomb-diggity. They offered to drive an elderly woman back to her home today so she didn't have to walk in the dire heat, they also offered to bring her glasses to her at her home once her order was complete so she didn't have to deal with the heat... again. They also scaled down her order to make sure her glasses were the most affordable for her needs. They are awesome human beings. Honest, caring, descent! Nice work, Rems! Rems Opticians is the best place for your eye needs. Alison and Stanley are very welcoming and will make sure you get what you are looking for. They have great variety of glasses and frames. We went to buy glasses for my son with very little knowledge/experience and happy that we went to Rems. Staff explained us all the details and what to buy and what not to. I highly recommend REMS Opticians. The owners, Stan & Allison and staff member Sonya are true professionals in their field. When you enter their store, you're welcomed by friendly people! My prescription is complex and after my longtime optometrist passed away, I was not able to find a place to get glasses made that I could see comfortably out of. One of our neighbors recommended them back in '05, so I gave them a try. Every year now (since 2005), they have made me perfect lenses! I am SO glad I found them! I have recommended them to family, friends & other neighbors and found that another one of our neighbors has been going there for over a decade. The neighbor that originally recommended them still bring their entire family there. You are never rushed or pressured to make a decision; they'll give you various options & what the cost of each is. Their recommendations (for frames) have always been right for me as I can tell from the compliments I receive from family & friends. I know if I have any problems with a pair of eyeglasses, that they will take care of it without a question. I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Rems Opticians in Clark. Not only did they help me out in a spot where my glasses broke and they fixed it within an hour (I bought the glasses online too), but when I mentioned to them that my mom Marie Kessler was a loyal customer of theirs, and that she passed away earlier this year, Alison was visibly upset by hearing this. My mom had bad eyes, but they always helped her out and sat and listened to her talk. When I was there, Alison was helping an elderly lady who was finished with her transaction, but she sat and talked to this woman until the woman finished saying what she needed to say. I imagined my mom sitting in that same chair talking about things that were probably only important to her. I received a sympathy card today from Rems, with a hand written note saying how much they loved my mom and how sorry they were for our loss. This moved me like you cannot believe.
