I stopped into Vision Works (Quakertown location) on my lunch break. I was very happy with the huge selection of glasses to choose from. I was most impressed with the staff. The woman who helped me was extremely helpful and very friendly. I did not feel pressured at all. I found a pair of regular prescription glasses along with a pair of sunglasses. This Vision works in Quakertown is by far the worst place to go for glasses. First they NEVER answer the phone. You have to schedule online. The staff is beyond rude and unwelcoming. The lady employee with the purple hair is condescending. If you must go to vision works avoid this location Go to the one in Montgomeryville at least they answer the phone. read more

Not a great place from start to finish. The person who examined my eyes was ready to tell me that I only needed distance, not bifocals, after about 3 minutes of examination. When I questioned whether my eyes improved and I didn't need the reading prescription anymore, she changed her mind without any additional examination or testing and told me to just use the prescription from two years prior. That doesn't give me a lot of confidence about the person who examined my eyes. My glasses were ready for pick up almost two weeks ago. They never contacted me, so I called today, thinking that there was some sort of delay or problem. They told me that they have been having trouble with sending text alerts, and that I should check my spam folder. I don't have a spam folder on my phone, and asked them why they would not follow up with a phone call if they are not hearing back from people. Then she made an excuse that they just found out today and that they are short staffed because of the snow (today). Then as a proposed remedy, she told me that "the least she could do" was to give me a free lens cleaning kit. Um, that really is the least you can do. Those things are free in most places anyway, and it doesn't make up for your poor customer service. read more

Okay. I get it... there's a pandemic. But I have now had my eye appointment cancelled multiple times over the last 6 months. Everytime I choose an appointment, they cancel with the doctor is off that day or the doctor has no appointments that day. It has nothing to do with the pandemic. It has to do with a poorly run scheduling site. Why I am able to make an appointment at 9 am when you know the doctor doesn't come in until 11??? You cannot call the store directly. Stopped in this morning to purchase new lenses. Both clerks couldn't be bothered helping me. My family has gotten glasses for years here and we always had a great experience. The clerks were inconsiderate and apathetic. I will be taking all 4 family members elsewhere. Went here to expect great service; however, it was a total failure. Bought two pair of glasses, the first one was perfect, but the second was awful. I went 3x to have them fixed the issue, but no resolutions. After the 3rd visit, I just had enough of the same BS excuse of telling me that they fixed the glasses which it wasn't. I traveled 2 hrs round trip to get to Quakertown. My mistake to even try it after terrible reviews online. Never again. I finally asked for a refund. Upon entering the Quakertown Visionworks Store, I got the impression that I was interrupting a conversation between two sales associates. Rather than saying 'hello' or 'let me know if you need anything,' one lady abruptly stated, "Do you even have a prescription?" As I had already glanced at the available options, which appeared limited, I didn't find it worth my time to engage in conversation. They appeared very eager to get me out of the store, despite the fact that I was the only customer there. On the way out the lady said, "We get very busy at the end of the year, so make certain you have your prescription." While I may have been wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, my budget was unlimited, I have Davis Vision benefits, and had my prescription with me from my own personal ophthalmologist. It seems that Visionworks is more equipped for working with the indigent, and if they treat them the same way they treat the commercially insured, they ought to be ashamed of themselves. read more

I would never recommend this company to anyone. They are rude, unprofessional and uncaring. They also insult people! The first time we were here we had the first appointment of the day and waited almost an hour to see the doctor. Okay, things happen but no apology or update whatsoever! We had to come back for my son's contact lens and paid for a contact lens fitting. I wanted to sit in the room with him so I would be able to help him at home with them if he had questions. The woman said parents aren't allowed because parents are unbearable during the fitting! This is a minor child! What a terrible policy and thing to say! Now my son is having trouble with them and not doing things correctly and he was never explained certain things and maybe if I was in the room with him I would be able to help him. I also had to call to order more contacts and they did not want to call the insurance or anything! They wanted me to come to the store after I called the insurance! I know my benefits, are they just going to take my word for it. This was nothing more than the individual answering the phone not wanted to do her job! Where is the customer service?? This company makes you feel more like a bother than a valued customer. We are so disgusted here we actually pulled our four other accounts with upcoming appointments and will go elsewhere. This place is a disgrace and a joke! If being talked down to and terrible customer service is for you this is the place, otherwise RUN! Stay far, far away from this joke of a company. read more

I've come here before 4 years ago and purchased 2 pair of glasses and dealt with a woman who I think was Barb. She was very helpful professional and kind. When I walked in the store this time, 4 years later, I heard a woman associate on the phone complaining to someone about insurance and how was that her problem blah blah blah. When she got off the phone she continued bitching about what ever it was she was talking about for everyone to hear, as if we all needed an explanation. I continued looking at frames waiting for (her) to ask me if I needed any help or if I had any questions. She didn't, and I purposely took my time waiting to see if she would. I finally approached her to ask a few questions which I will explain in my next review after my eye exam next week. This woman is rude and shouldn't be in the customer service field. After having a horrible experience at another Visionsworks I wrote a bad review and Tina who I assume is a regional manager (?) contacted me to make it right. She was so friendly and gave me her cell number and we talked a few times. Tina referred us to this location (Quakertown) and the manager, Barb, was so helpful and fixed all the problems we had at the other location. I went back for my third visit to FINALLY get my contacts and they didn't even give me my prescription for them until I specifically requested it. The fun didn't end there though bc the contacts I was given were defective (as in they would literally disinterest from any small amount of friction and there was a strange film on them) so I had to go back to get more. They gave me another box for free "just that once as a courtesy" but I've also had issues with some of the pairs in that box as well. Worst experience ever. So much hassle. read more

I was confused if the one was even an employee or not, she had no uniform on and she looked totally clueless. Then there was another 'employee' barking orders at everyone in the store while she sat her ass in her seat and didn't budge to help anyone...wait, let me reiterate....she was sitting with a man for over an hour - just discussing life and occasionally she would yell to the clueless 'employee' about not eating all day, being hungry, not knowing what day it was and discussing life. NOW...I am standing at the counter this whole entire time. Poor Renee was helping customer after customer , breaking her butt, while these other two sorry ass excuses for customer service ignored me. When I finally spoke up, the very rude short blonde haired woman with the black glasses got snotty with me. I was in this store for 2 hours. This was a horrible experience. I will never ever be back. I like to spend money too.....your loss. Renee is a rare gem , excellent customer service. I give her and the doctor 5 stars, those other two Yahoo's , I give negative stars. So unprofessional, they need to be retrained, if they ever even were trained- doubt it. They lack any customer service skills. How disappointed I am. read more

I have called Vision works Quakertown EVERYDAY (sometimes twice a day) for 8 days so that I can order my contacts which I was just fitted for the prior Thursday. First 3 times I called, they told me they needed to check with someone and would call me back. no calls. 4th day, i called and spoke to a girl whom said she had pulled down my insurance info, quoted me what the difference would be out of pocket, gave her my credit card info and was told they would call me back to let me know how long until they would be in. Called day 5 to find out the girl the prior day had NOT ordered them but that she would check with the girl that had worked that day to find out what she did with the paperwork. Called day 6 to check status again. Said she couldn't find the paperwork and I requested for a manager to call me asap. Day 7 no manager called back. Tried 4 different times to get ahold of a person but phones just rang and rang. Day 8, called and asked for manager. none available. girl said she would order them while I was on the phone. Great. She started asking the brand, etc. I said the ones yous JUST fitted me for on Apr 19th. Oh, let me get someone. Was put on hold for 19 minutes before I finally hung up. While the rest of the staff are pleasant, I do not care for the optician here at all. The optician is very cocky and I do not care for her attitude at all. Went in for a routine eye exam and even though I was told by a very respected and well known eye specialist that I DO NOT NEED prescription glasses or contacts, the eye dr. at this location of Visionworks insisted on giving me prescriptions for bifocals and reading glasses! Even though I had shown her the results of my previous eye exam with the specialist that had previously examined my eyes, this very cocky woman forced a prescription on me anyway. Needless to say, I did not fill the prescription. And adding further insult to injury, she prescribed glasses for my husband that were very weak. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Visionworks again. We'll stick with the specialist even though it is a longer distance. At least we know the specialist will not coerce us in any way and will write the correct prescription for my husband and not force any unnecessary prescriptions on anyone. read more

I will absolutely give this place 5 stars. Not only were they super helpful with picking out my frames, but they helped me with my fear of seeing the eye doctor. I have never been to a place with such patience and politeness. I ended up getting a new set of frames, and a pair of sunglasses. I got a great deal and my glasses are still holding up fantastically. Do not go here for contacts. The doctors just seem like they don't care if they fit it or how they fit and they don't try different brands of lenses on you. I am a first time contact wearer. And I've purchased glasses here without a problem but contacts are a different story. It's been two months and just yesterday I finally ordered the right lenses for me. Only after I had to call the corporate offices to tell them I needed to see a different doctor because the contacts that the doctor said "will settle" scratched my whole cornea. Worst experience with any doctor in my life. If you are a first time contact wearer see a real doctor in a real office. These doctors are lazy. They only got three stars because the manager was so nice after she the call from corporate of course. But I finally feel like a can see with comfort. And it's only because of her. stay away...quakertown...very friendly during my initial appointment that took 2 weeks to obtain...went to pick up glasses, associate couldnt be bothered to help me to see if they fit correctly or explain the progressive lenses to me. felt like she just wanted me out of the store. originally went because of a great deal of computer work. when i got to work on monday all excited that i can see from my paper to computer..wrong..looking down was fine. look back up at computer everything out of focus. my readers work better. i feel they took advantage of me and gave me progressive lenses when all i needed was a new pair of readers. called and the girl said i need to be re examined but they had no appointments for at least 2 weeks...what? they should have offered to get me in that day...but they already had my money so they dont care about me now. will be returning my glasses and expect a full refund of what i paid and to my insurance company (davis insurance) read more

I was upset to find out that my usual eye doctor did not take my new eye insurance so I had to try someone new. I saw Vision works takes my insurance so I thought I'd give them a chance. I wish I hadn't. They were completely understaffed. While waiting one me the girl was answering phone calls and helping customers who walked in the door to pick up their glasses. I was there for 2 1/2 hours, just for an exam and to get contacts, not even frames and lens. Then the doctor I saw was terrible. All she wanted to do was talk about torn retinas, which I have no systems of. She was rude and nasty. When she asked me to remove my contacts I explained I couldn't use the brand solution she was giving me since I'm allergic to it. She gave me a hard time and told me that I probably wasn't allergic, that my contacts just had calcium build up and it caused allergy like systems. When I refused to use it, she had me throw away the contacts in my eyes which were only a week old. She did give me replacements but only after she gave me a hard time. I don't feel like I got a real eye exam, she told me to hold my hand over one of my eyes and read the chart. She never moved the letters/numbers on the chart to see if I could see any smaller. The doctor never even mentioned anything about my stigmatism, which I know I have. She claims my eyes didn't change but who knows if they did since she really didn't give me much of an exam. They didn't have my contacts in stock so they had to be ordered and I was told someone would let me know when they came in. Two weeks went by and no one contacted me so I called. I was told they have been there for a while. This place is a joke, if you want a real eye exam with a professional don't go here. read more

I wouldn't recommend Visionworks to anyone I know. I've gotten glasses two separate times from the same location and both times I've had a negative experience. On my first visit the optometrist was cocky and was giving me attitude because I was struggling to read the letter charts because I have severe astigmatism. Why are you being rude to me because I have vision problems, isn't it your job to help me see? The frames I bought were in my opinion overpriced because the plastic coating started peeling and scratching my face. Who wants to pay over $100 for cheap glasses? Fast forward one year and the service didn't get much better. The second time I had a different eye doctor and she was very nice but the associates were too pushy about expensive upgrades and won't let you pick out what you want a.k.a. trying to convince you to buy something expensive. Every cheap frame I picked out they made an excuse as to why I couldn't get them. Finally I chose something a little more expensive but I was there for over three hours. Next time I will try LensCrafters or a different store. Don't waste your time with this aggravating and unprofessional store. read more
