When it came time to search for glasses, we were lucky to have had Kat to help us. I explained what I was looking for and she took me right to the selections that matched my criteria. I've consistently ordered glasses from Visionworks and have always been happy with the value and service. This time I was called to say my glasses were ready to be picked up. When I arrived in the store they said my glasses weren't there and after 20 minutes of looking, they sent me on my way without an explanation of where my glasses actually were. They acted like I was mistaken that someone from their store called me to say they weren't in. I had to call the next day in order to try to speak to someone else at the store and had a very difficult time getting connected to the actual store. Their phone service takes you to a central location sometimes. I finally reached someone at a different store who researched my situation and found that my glasses did not meet quality control standards and had to be sent back. That's fair, all I needed to know was what actually happened to my order as I had paid for the glasses already. It took several days and an employee outside of the store to figure it out. Let me start out with thanking Naomi for her time, patience, and her lovely willingness to help in any way I needed. I had a lot of questions as a young 20 year old who only recently started wearing glasses and I was treated with nothing but care, understanding, and a desire to truly help me make the right decision for me. It was a wonderful experience and I felt so taken care of here. There was also another lady who I didn't get the name of that was determined to help me find the exact glasses I was looking for even though it took a while, which I also want to take the time to appreciate. I'll be completely transparent. This is our first experience with Visionworks. We went there because my eye insurance recommended it. From the first time we set foot in the store, the customer service was outstanding. There is also a large selection of frames to choose from. However, what has impacted us the most is that they stand behind their product and are honest and of great integrity. Unfortunately, this is challenging to find in other industries. we came up to San Antonio to visit my sister. She recommended me to Vision Works. I was able to make my appointment on the same day. I was treated respectfully and kindly. My doctor explained very well the progression of my astigmatism and gave me a new prescription that will help correct my eyesight. I was also sent home with trial contact lenses. I have been coming to this optical for years. They always have great customer service and are always willing to help. They do get busy but I guess that's a sign of how busy this area is. Today I went in to get a pair of glasses fixed for my daughter and Miguel was courteous, professionals d helpful. He took the time to have a conversation with me even though they were extremely busy. I have been going here for mine and my husbands glasses for years and never had a problem until this pass month. I have an eye problem that makes my vision change constantly and so I am constantly having them checked and when I need new glasses I really need them. I don't order expensive frames because I have to order top off the line glasses. This last visit they told us it should be a week to get our new glasses. Well my husbands came in right away but something happened to mine and they were broken during the process of making them. So I was at their mercy waiting on my glasses. They took almost two more weeks to come in. I'm not sure what's happening over there but I am use to better service and a more crowded place. Their was no one there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE! I used to go to Alamo ranch eye and they were great and fast and never had any issues. I tried vision works and I didn't even get my trial contacts the same day. My appointment august 31 and it is now October 11 and my TRIAL contacts are not even in. They don't ever answer and if they do you're on hold for awhile. If you are looking for anything quick do not go here! I never leave reviews and this place pissed me off so much I decided to finally leave one. read more

Came here after visiting the competition, mostly because we were out of network with the competition. It was the best thing that could have happened. Instantly greeted by two different associates, and sat down with the specialist to begin the eyewear selection process. We were helped by Reneé (2) and from verification of coverage to frame selection, she was very helpful and attentive not only to our needs, but also our wants. How hard is it to do the simple stuff? Like call people that they're orders are and actually in? The purpose of a store like this is to process glasses orders and contact orders. If you're unsure what frames look good on people that's understandable, but you would think the simple stuff is doable? Not this store! I was told my order would be in about a week after I ordered, nope! One box of contacts were in but nothing else. A week later I'm told my full order of contacts are in and I asked if my glasses were in and I was told yes. I come in the next to pick the contacts and glasses up, and guess what? No glasses! I understand if orders take a while, but I shouldn't get three wrong answers from three separate employees. I will not shop for glasses here again. read more

Visited this location since my family purchases glasses here, and was ordering contacts for myself. The employee looked up my insurance and was very knowledgable of what she was looking at, and explained how it all works for me (since I'm sort of new to civilian insurance and the way copays and deductibles work). I was able to get contacts fully covered and glasses half off, and the stylish young lady helped me pick out pairs that were great for my facial structure. I finally found a gorgeous Vera Bradley frame and will be picking up my whole order in just a few days. I will report back how fitting goes. I so hope it is great, since you can see from my other reviews that customer service and professional demeanors are just my favvvvvvvv part of Yelp reviews! I was very pleasantly surprised by Visionworks. I took my husband here for his eyeglasses and they had so many current Styles as well as the regular go to looks in stock that I fell in love with this place and plan to get my next pair of glasses here. We've always gone other places and now I have no idea why we did not find this little Slice of Heaven. The cost is wonderful. This is a place that you can actually afford a decent beautiful pair of glasses that both fit well and that get your prescription right the first time. My wife ordered contacts literally two months ago and we barely got them a week ago. Apparently they were never ordered, and it wasn't until a month ago that we called, and they had stated that they never ordered them! Finally, it took another week of waiting and realized they were never going to call us and let us know that the contacts we actually in the store waiting for us ! Worst store ever! read more

I ordered glasses on October 1 and was told 5-7 business days, which is pretty much standard. I was told by the clerk that they text and or call me. No problem. Life happens and I forgot about the date they were supposed to be in. I called them on the 11th and was told yes they have been there since the 7th. And was told they reached out to me the week prior to let me know they were in. So I doubled checked my voicemails and text messages and received no notification. So I checked my email and there it was. Now I do not check my emails all that often so I did not see it. I then went to the store for 2 days now and they are closed for training. Hope the training is on how to use the phone and actually call or text the customer. The places I have gone to in the past did call or texted me. The doctor was great and would have no problem seeing him, but will take my eyeglasses purchase some place else. read more

Been using this store for years because they had an in store lab. Then they changed to a lab several miles away! Until recently, I could drop off my prescription, they would call, dropped off my frames and new lens would be installed in an hour. No longer. If you like your frames they now need them for TWO WEEKS! From great to lousy with only a overly hyped virus in between. Never again..... read more

3 children with high prescriptions, with vision insurance was still pretty pricey. You would except quality glasses and great service, not the case. The staff does not care I've replaced the same glasses 4 times due to an apparent defect, when I expressed this I was told and I quote " oh well the frames are not covered in our insurance any more, you should pick a different frame next time, since you keep having the same issue. I paid the $134 to replace my sons frames because he needs them now but I will never bring my kids to another visionworks again.. Next she was not able to properly switch the lenses over to the new frame so she used an alternate screw and told me the " should be okay". Don't ever come here. From the moment I sat down in the chair for the eye exam I let them know I was asking for colored contacts. The optometrist said okay. I have astigmatism in one eye. He gave me my prescription for my contacts so I go to order them to find out they do not make colored contacts for astigmatism. I've had colored contacts before with astigmatism so I ask him to rewrite my prescription for colored contacts without the correcting for astigmatism and I tell them I understand I will not be able to see as clearly and that is fine, I would like to pay what I'm asking for which colored contacts. The optometrist refuses to rewrite the prescription and refuses to refund me blaming the insurance. I call my insure to get the refund to find out I paid out of pocket for the contacts fitting. I call the store back and ask for the refund again since I paid out of pocket and said I have no problem returning the prescription since I will not be using it and they still refuse to refund my money. Horrible horrible horrible service I cannot say enough how horrible this experience was and will never come back again. What a waste of time and money, there goes $75 down the drain. Hello, I originally appeared in store for the first time sometime around the end of this past September, early October. I initially experienced a disorderly staff. I started working with one young lady who then proceeded to walk away after telling me that they were going to run it through my insurance first to see what would be covered. Approximately 10 min later I returned to the desk and spoke with a different young lady who began to fill out the same paperwork. I informed her that the other associate had already done that I was waiting on my insurance. She then proceeded to ask the initial associate I dealt with where my paperwork was, only to find out she had never completed it or contacted my insurance because she began helping another customer instead. After everything, I returned later that evening to pick my frames and take measurements. I was told that my glasses would be ready for pick up the following day by noon. The next day I arrived at the store at approximately 12:45pm, only to be informed that my glasses weren't suppose to be ready until 1pm and that they weren't sure why I had been told noon. They continued to say that he was finishing a pair now and that my pair would be next. About 25 min later my glasses were finished. I tried them on, purchased my solution package and left. Everyday since then I notice the botched job on my lenses. Each day small flecks of glass fall off, at times landing in my eye, which is extremely uncomfortable and painful. I have literally had to pull my car off of the highway twice while driving at night in order to rinse my eye out. The overall craftsmanship is absolutely terrible and I'm extremely disappointed. Now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. My insurance only covers one pair of lens a year. Our family of three relies solely on my husbands income to support us while I raise our now 23 month old son and finish my degree. We simply don't have the extra funds right now with the holidays and my sons birthday coming up as well as other recent health issues arising from an accident that was completely out of my hands, and we shouldn't have to pay for something twice that as a result of rushing a job, my glasses were (lenses) were botched. read more

I'm so over this place. We've had four years of bad service and I keep going back because they are right next door to our doctor's office, but I am finally done. Today they tried to 'upsell' me the digital lenses, telling me the best reason I should get it is because my insurance covers so much of it... where it's regularly $599 with insurance I only have to pay an additional $155. I feel like I'm at a used car dealers. That just infuriates me that they are saying what they have been giving me is inferior. But there's a whole lot more. Last year I got bifocals there, and they told me to wear them for two weeks straight and my eyes would get used to them, so I did, and after almost a year I wondered why my vision was so very bad driving at night, and put on my old prescription, and could see..... love that I did what they said and just made them work since it was me needing to adjust to them when in actuality, it was me getting used to wearing the wrong prescription. Then the numerous times they have said something would be ready only to not have it ready, or lose it and have to go back time and again, and then have them not call us when they say they will. The second time we had a bad experience I should have stopped going back, at this point, it's just shame on me for being such a fool. Since we only go once or twice a year, I tend to forget how frustrated I am each time. Taking our business elsewhere right now... convenient is not worth the continual headaches, which I got a good reminder of today. read more
