We decided to go on a harbor cruise with Hakuna Matata to make the most of our time, since we were there for 24hrs. When we arrived, you check in at a small blue hut. Unfortunately, the initial welcome wasn't great. We weren't really greeted--just asked for our names so we could receive a card to board the boat. The woman helping us continued chatting with her coworker and looking at her phone while assisting us, which felt a bit dismissive. The weather was beautiful and the views around the harbor were fantastic, making for a really relaxing cruise. Jeff, the bartender, was a highlight of the trip. He was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the harbor. He even took a couple of photos for my husband and me, which we really appreciated. Overall, while the check-in experience could definitely be more welcoming and attentive, the cruise itself was enjoyable thanks to the scenery and the great service from Jeff at the bar. read more

Wonderful afternoon on the water with our family on the Hakuna Matata! The captain was very knowledgeable and provided local knowledge about the homes and sites along the way. Fully stocked bar, good music, and attentive crew. My only feedback for improvement would be getting a PA system for the captain to speak over while giving local information, as it was sometimes difficult to hear the facts and information with a group of 30 people on board. read more

During our little road trip staycation, my friend and I decided to check out the sunset cruise by Visit Palm Beach. When we first saw it in their website, it showed the boat as being sold out. However, I decided to make a phone call the old-school way and was able to get us spots on board, on the "Motonui" catamaran (2- hulled ship). We were able to get a seat on the lower deck, in front of the bar and by rail to sip our wine and enjoy the views. The couch / settees they had were perfect to relax and see the sights. The music was also not too loud. The pier is located right off the Clematis area, and actually pretty close to the restaurant we had brunch at. This tour company offers a variety of water tours and adventures in Palm Beach. We did the 2 hour sunset cruise $45 on the Hakuna Matada 50' catamaran. Parked at the recommended Banyan garage about two blocks away and arrived at the hut for our reserved ticket. I also purchased a couple of snacks and water to bring on board. I have nothing bad to say about the 3 staff on board the boat. They all went above and beyond and deserve raises. However, the company and the Director of Business Development should be ashamed and the company should be shut down. I suffered many injuries due to fall that occurred caused by unprotected openings to the bathroom below deck. I was standing on an anchored boat, I did not trip and I was not careless, when what I assume happened was a wave hitting the boat and I fell headfirst down the 4 foot drop through the unprotected opening. I blacked out, when I came to I was covered in blood and struggling to catch my breath. I spent the next two hours icing my head and ankle onboard the boat. Once we docked I went to urgent care to be seen. Twice I requested the openings be covered to protect future guests. Twice I was told by the Director of Business Operations that leaving them open is not negligent and it was my fault for standing on an anchored boat. It seemed fair to me to request a reimbursement since I did not have the 'experience' I was promised. It seemed fair to me the company reimburse my urgent care cost. Since, "In nearly 30 years of operation, having welcomed HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of guests aboard..." this small amount would show due diligence, professionalism, customer care, and basic human decency. I did not foresee any issues. However, along with twice denying my request to protect future guests, they twice denied my reimbursement request. DO NOT use this company. You will be jeopardizing your safety and the safety of your loved ones. read more

It ain't no passing craze. There's a BOGO sunset cruise coupon in the Enjoy the City book for the Palm Beaches, so my husband and I decided to give it a shot to get our mini cruise on. When I tried to book the reservation through the website, it wouldn't let me reserve it since the code wasn't on the coupon. I called and the lady on the phone was really nice about reserving it and honoring it that way. She mentioned to bring it when we checked in. About a month later, the day arrived for sailing. There's a option to valet about a block away from the check in location and they would have validated the ticket for up to 5 hours. We decided to park in one of the nearby garages instead and walked about a couple blocks to the boat's location. The process for check in was smooth and they complied with CDC guidelines. The Hakuna Matata sunset cruise was from 6 to 8 p.m. and it was beautiful weather for it. There was about 40 or so people on the boat and we were able to enjoy drinks and snacks on board. The captain and the crew did a great job with keeping everybody happy with delicious cocktails and food while playing music in the background. I had some margaritas while my husband sipped on mojitos. We saw pretty mansions along the intercoastal and the crew gave us some insight as well as some trivia on who owns a couple of them. There were plenty of boats and jet skis that we passed by, which most of the people waved when we did. It was so nice to forget about worries for a couple hours and just relax with a cold one or three. It's too bad that two hours doesn't seem like two days on a boat. We had a great time and recommend doing this cruise whether you live in the area or not. There are other activities to do if you look on the website and want to reserve for such as jet ski, scooters, or kayak rentals. Let it be no worries for the rest of your days ;) read more

Our Florida Outreach Center for the Blind did a field trip with 25 of our blind and visually impaired students, taking a cruise on the new Motunui Catamaran for the day the end of June. It was fantastic, as was the staff who helped us arrange it all (Thank you so much, Kaitlyn!!). They went above and beyond to help us set up the event, then the day of...making sure we got on board safely. We sailed the Intracoastal and the crew was wonderful, as was the tour. Fascinating! And we bought the box lunch meals for our students - and he was a great variety to choose from and simply delicious. We chose the Motunui because it fits 50 people, has shaded covering and bathrooms, comfortable seats with tables that are shaded, and an open bar with soft drinks and all kinds of delicious alcohol drinks. All in all we had an incredible day on the Motunui and would do it again in a heartbeat! Highly recommend them!! (Call us at FOCB if you know of anyone visually impaired or blind. The weather perfect and the staff was extremely patient with helping my mom up the stairs. There weren't many riders so the staff was not super busy. Kristen was a phenomenal host and went around and made sure everyone was happy. I talked to the captain for a while and she was super nice also. My family and I just visited and took the boat cruise and can't recommend this enough, especially for those who have a group with kids & friends. There's a full bar, music and activities for the kids. The crew was truly AMAZING. They were engaged with the kids and the adults every moment making it a fun and memorable experience for everyone. I can't even tell you if their adventures are good or not because they kept scheduling, canceling, rescheduling and canceling... They booked my family, then canceled, then they called the next day to reschedule and said they could accommodate everyone after all... Then less than 24 hours later they called and canceled again! So frustrating when trying to plan an itinerary for visiting family and embarrassing because I recommended this place. I tried to reach out to see what the heck was going on and was told a manager named Lee would get back to me, but no one ever followed up.... Our guide Andrew was very good. Told us a lot of history, was knowledgeable about the ecosystem and what WPB is doing to care for the intercostal water, birds and little creatures. He even picked us some "sea grapes" to taste. He picked up any garbage he saw floating along really emphasizing his love for nature. All & all a good trip. It helped that we were only a group of 3 so it was easy for him to talk to us as we paddled our kayaks. read more

Very disgusted with the hakuna matatta day cruise today. March 12th. We spent 160$ plus for 3 of us to enjoy this sightseeing tour mainly because the ad says it will see maralago (the only reason we went) We never even went near it. The excuses were " its too windy, the boat dock moved because of the upcoming boat show ". It was too late to back out. I hope others will complain of this too.
